Gene Fusion System: Crime Hunter
Chapter 1260 - 624: Paranoid Suspicions? First Stirring of Feelings?
Watching the other man, he was really worked up.
And he was looking at himself with a kind of disbelief.
Manager Liu was practically scared stupid.
"Wait, officer, what are you talking about? How does this have anything to do with me? I never had any beef with Miss Yang, no grudges, no bad blood. Why would I do something like that?"
As Manager Liu spoke, he looked a bit torn between crying and laughing.
But he really did look wronged.
Luo Fei, however, spoke seriously.
"Manager Liu, that’s not quite how this works. To get to the truth, we have to clarify the entire course of events. We have to be absolutely rigorous and eliminate every possibility. So I hope you can actively cooperate with the police."
"Only then can we determine whether you’re telling the truth, and not lying."
Luo Fei’s tone was dead serious.
That made Manager Liu take a deep breath.
"Yes, Mr. Luo is right. In that case, I’ll go to the station with Mr. Luo right now and give a statement."
Seeing him agree.
Although he was still a bit dejected, at least he agreed.
Luo Fei nodded with some relief and said,
"That’s more like it."
And Big Sister Bai standing to the side looked uneasy, as if she was worried he’d make the wrong call.
Afraid the killer might just slip away like this.
Luo Fei quickly tried to reassure her.
"Big Sister Bai, the incident has already happened, so try not to dwell on it too much."
"We’ll track this to the very end and do our best to get to the truth as soon as possible."
Luo Fei’s words made her nod over and over.
"Officer, then I’ll leave this matter in your hands. If possible, I really hope you can catch the mastermind behind this! That guy is truly disgusting. I can’t even imagine what my Miss Yang went through before she died!"
Looking at her, she was sincerely, proactively asking for help.
Her nose stung and her eyes turned red.
Luo Fei, however, made a serious suggestion.
"Big Sister Bai, we’ll do everything we can to investigate this case thoroughly. But we need you to cooperate with us and help us with one thing..."
She looked like she wanted to speak but held back.
As if she had a favor to ask.
But the big sister agreed immediately.
"Mr. Luo, whatever you ask, I’ll agree to it."
"Big Sister, when we investigate a case, the police need to keep things confidential. So I’m going to need you to help me find that reporter, give her a heads‑up, and have her delete the video she recorded just now."
But as soon as she heard Luo Fei’s request—
She glanced over at the female reporter not far away, head down, pretending to drink her milk tea.
The big sister was really reluctant.
"Huh? Officer, it took a lot of effort for me to talk her into coming to record a video with me. That was to collect evidence, to prevent anyone from trying to dodge responsibility."
But seeing how serious she was—
In reality, she wanted to use Yang Youqin’s death to make a front‑page headline, squeeze the last bit of value out of her.
Luo Fei spoke sternly.
"Big Sister, I understand what you’re thinking."
"But from the police’s standpoint, we have to ensure the confidentiality of the case. Otherwise, we might startle the snake in the grass, and that killer might catch wind of something and run to avoid punishment. Or are you saying you don’t want us to solve the case quickly and help Miss Yang?"
He could tell she was wavering.
By this point she was looking at him a little doubtfully.
The big sister hurriedly shook her head.
"No, no, Mr. Luo, I would never mean that. You can relax on that point."
Once he saw her agree,
Luo Fei finally felt a bit of relief.
"That’s better, Big Sister. If you work closely with us and do what we ask, we’ll be able to give you and Miss Yang an answer as soon as possible."
With that, Luo Fei got into the police car with Manager Liu.
Just as he watched Luo Fei and the others getting ready to leave,
Zhou Mingrun suddenly spoke up.
"Mr. Luo, how about I come with you to the station? After all, this happened in my restaurant, so I have a duty to cooperate with the investigation. I genuinely hope we can find out the truth as soon as possible."
"I liked Miss Yang so much, I never imagined something like this would happen to her! I’m definitely going to see that damned killer caught!"
Zhou Mingrun spoke earnestly, and there was a sob in his voice.
That made Luo Fei suspicious.
"Boss Zhou, strictly speaking, you’re not the first witness. You just need to assign one of your staff to handle this. You don’t necessarily have to come forward personally."
But seeing Luo Fei hesitate,
Zhou Mingrun shook his head quickly.
"Mr. Luo, I know you might not understand when I say this."
"But when it comes to Miss Yang, I was really single‑minded about her. So I have to follow this investigation. I want to see with my own eyes when that damned murderer gets caught."
Watching Zhou Mingrun, his eyes were turning wet.
He looked like he was about to fall apart.
Luo Fei couldn’t help hesitating.
After all, he hadn’t expected this Boss Zhou, who looked around forty‑five,
to act like some underage kid the moment he mentioned Yang Youqin.
Like he was about to burst into tears, the corners of his mouth trembling nonstop.
That caught Luo Fei off guard.
But he only temporarily pushed down the doubts in his heart.
On the surface, he stayed calm.
A little while later, Luo Fei and his group arrived at the sub‑station.
And after he followed Manager Liu into the office,
Luo Fei asked, still a bit suspicious,
"Manager Liu, do you think there’s something off about this Boss Zhou?"
And he tapped a finger against his own temple.
Putting on a faintly disdainful look.
Manager Liu had no idea this was a trap he was setting, and hurried to explain.
