Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Floor 20 Pyroth, the Scorching Tempest Drake

Boss Name: Pyroth, the Scorching Tempest Drake

Level: 35 (Mid-Tier Floor Boss)

Location: Floor 20 – The Ash-Winds Crucible

Element: Dual-Type (Wind & Fire Synergy)

Perched at the high altar of a vast, open obsidian amphitheater surrounded by howling tornadic currents and rivers of liquid magma, Pyroth is a towering, quad-winged draconic terror.

Its scales shimmer like heated steel, shifting from deep crimson to incandescent white. Unlike standard flame beasts, Pyroth’s body constantly emits high-velocity, gale-force winds that fan its inner fiery core, making its body hum with the raw energy of a living jet engine.

Oxygen Feed (Passive Synergy - Thermal Combustion)

Pyroth’s wind abilities do not deal physical wind damage alone—they actively feed and accelerate any fire effects active in the arena. Whenever Pyroth uses a Wind attack through an existing flame zone, the fire expands by 200%, converting standard flames into White-Hot Plasma that bypasses 30% of armor durability.

Gale-Searing Razor Blades (Primary Attack)

Pyroth sweeps its twin pairs of massive wings, launching crescent-shaped blades of pressurized wind infused with hyper-heated embers. The wind blades cut through tank shields, while the embers leave behind burning trails on the floor that continuously deal fire damage and reduce movement speed.

Wildfire Cyclones (Crowd Control & Hazard)

Pyroth leaps into the sky and flaps its four wings in opposition, summoning three roaring Fire Tornadoes that roam the arena. The wind vacuum pulls players inward toward the burning centers, forcing vanguard fighters like Caelen to constantly reposition while tests backline archers like Mirei to shoot through distorted, swirling air currents.

Thermal Updraft Flight (Mobility & Hazard Evading)

By heating the air beneath its wings with burst-fire blasts, Pyroth creates instant updrafts, allowing it to move across the arena at supersonic speeds. It uses this speed to dive-bomb backline squishies (like Seraphina or Mirei) before slamming back into the ground with a localized thermobaric shockwave.

Enrage Ultimate: Vacuum Detonation (Phase 2 - 30% HP)

Pyroth folds its four wings around its chest, aggressively inhaling all ambient oxygen and pulling all party members toward its center with gravitational wind force. After three seconds of charging, it detonates in a terrifying Thermobaric Flame Burst, releasing an arena-wide explosion of fire propelled outward by supersonic shockwaves.

Gathered before the towering, soot-stained adamantine doors of Floor 20, Squad 07 felt the immense wave of heat radiating through the thick metal long before the portal opened. The faint, rhythmic thrumming behind the stone sounded less like machinery and more like the violent, pressurized intake of a massive furnace.

Rowan leaned the Hoe of the World-Tiller against his shoulder, his eyes narrowing slightly as his Level 30 earth perception probed through the threshold.

"Alright, listen up," Rowan said, his grounded voice cutting through the dull roar echoing behind the doors. "Inside is Pyroth, the Scorching Tempest Drake—a Level 35 mid-tier boss. It’s a dual-element threat using wind and fire, but the real danger is how those two elements feed off each other. Its wind currents pull in oxygen to supercharge its flames into white-hot plasma, and the heat will drain your stamina in minutes."

Seraphina immediately unbuckled two leather satchels from her hip, handing each team member two crystal vials shimmering with a deep, cooling blue hue. "These are Glacial-Ginseng Hydration Elixirs," she explained, her fingers working with practiced speed. "They’ll regulate your internal body temperature, prevent thermal exhaustion, and continuously cleanse burn buildup for fifteen minutes. Drink one the second we step through."

"Barney, you’re our anchor," Rowan continued, looking toward the heavy-armored dwarf. "When Pyroth launches its Gale-Searing Razor Blades, your B-Grade plate and tower shield need to take the brunt of it. Angle your shield to deflect the wind vectors so the ember trails don’t blanket the floor behind you."

"Let the overgrown lizard try," Barney rumbled, slamming his massive steel gauntlet against his chestplate with a loud CLANG. "This steel was tempered in dragon-grade furnace heat. It won’t buckle!"

"Caelen, Mirei, you two are on sky control," Rowan instructed, turning to the fresh Level 30 vanguard pair. "Pyroth relies on Thermal Updrafts to leap across the arena at supersonic speeds. Mirei, use your Breeze-Striker Longbow to fire wind-disruption shots directly into its Wildfire Cyclones. If you disrupt its air currents, you collapse its oxygen feed. Caelen, the moment Pyroth drops low to dive-bomb the backline, I want you targeting its wing joints. Clip its wings, force it to the ground, and dump your burst damage."

Caelen grinned, rolling his shoulders as his broadsword hummed with a fierce, gold-tinted aura. "Grounding flying pests is my specialty. What about you, boss?"

"I’ll handle the arena itself," Rowan said with a relaxed smirk, tapping his straw hat. "Pyroth likes to turn the floor into liquid magma and pull everyone inward with vacuum currents. I’ll raise granite thermal barriers to block its breath attacks and seal the lava channels under cool soil so you all have solid footing."

"Plan sounds solid," Mirei said calmly, drawing a glowing wind-infused arrow and nocking it against the string of her breeze-striker bow. "Let’s take down Floor 20."

With a heavy, synchronized push, Caelen and Barney threw open the massive adamantine gates.

The heavy air of The Ash-Winds Crucible washed over them instantly—a scorching, apocalyptic amphitheater of jet-black obsidian surrounded by howling, roaring fire tornadoes and bubbling channels of subterranean magma. Perched atop a central volcanic altar stood Pyroth, its four massive wings unfurling with a deafening screech that set the very air vibrating with white-hot heat.

"Squad 07, move out!" Rowan called out, driving the blade of his hoe into the burning stone floor.

A surge of vibrant, emerald-gold earth energy erupted from Rowan’s core, instantly sprouting thick, interlocking pillars of granite around the entrance to form a cool, fortified staging ground.

Barney charged forward with his tower shield raised, roaring a battle cry as Pyroth swept its wings, launching a salvo of glowing white wind-blades. The localized shockwave shattered against Barney’s B-Grade armor in a shower of brilliant sparks, holding the line firm as Mirei leaped onto a granite pillar, loosing three glowing arrows straight into the eye of an approaching fire cyclone—snapping the wind current and collapsing the flames into harmless embers!

"It’s grounded!" Caelen shouted, leaping off Rowan’s stone structure with his broadsword trailing a blinding trail of aura, diving straight for the tempest drake’s exposed wing joint as the battle for Floor 20 erupted in full force.
