Game of the World Tree
Chapter 863
【 BOXLUNCH AND NIGHTINGALE 】
Boxlunch ultimately failed to prove that he was the same person he had once been.
However, after careful consideration, he eventually decided to give up completely.
In any case, knowing the truth was not necessarily a good thing for the players. It might even bring about many new problems and complications.
Perhaps, in the end, some mysteries were better left unanswered…
For Boxlunch, being able to see this world again and finally have a healthy body was already more than enough. He had been given a second chance at life, and he was grateful for it.
Without his memories of his life on Earth, he also had no attachments to his previous world. This was a choice he had made for himself, so there was nothing for him to regret.
But if there was anything he regretted, it was that he could no longer go on adventures with his companions.
He was no longer the omnipotent Fourth Calamity player. He only had one life now, and he had also lost the safety net of the system which allowed him to revive again and again.
At the same time, however, he had gained even more.He now had the long lifespan of the elves, allowing him to experience a future far longer than an ordinary human’s. He was no longer bound by the level restrictions that players faced, nor did he have to worry about the limitations that had once defined his existence as a player. He had been given a future filled with even greater and more limitless potential…
He hoped that in this life, he could cherish everything and live each day happily.
Now, he had something new to care about. He was about to begin a new life.
Looking at Nightingale standing beside him and holding his hand tightly, Boxlunch’s eyes were filled with tenderness.
Aside from a single in-game announcement, Boxlunch’s “rebirth” was not widely publicized in Elven Kingdom.
At first, countless players who heard the news came to “pay their respects” to him. They came one after another, curious to see the player who had somehow returned in another form. Gradually, however, the initial commotion died down, and his life once again returned to peace.
Unlike the players, the elves held a grand welcome celebration for Boxlunch’s “rebirth.”
Led by Nightingale, he attended a banquet in Florence that was meant for the “NPCs.”
The banquet was magnificent. Many elves from Florence attended, and even the Church of Life sent some of its representatives. Everyone gathered together, singing and dancing to the sound of music and celebrating the arrival of this new member of their community.
It was a rather peculiar feeling.
The old him had always been obsessed with combat. Although he had participated in various celebrations here in Elven Kingdom, most of the time, he had merely joined the other players in having fun.
Although he was one of the first closed-beta players, honestly speaking, he had not interacted much with the NPCs. Aside from Nightingale, he was only acquainted with some of her friends.
Now, however, seeing things from a different perspective and assuming a different identity had opened the door to an entirely new world for him.
The NPCs really were not merely NPCs.
Seigües was a real world as well, filled with real people, real emotions, and real lives.
Everything seemed unchanged from before, yet at the same time, everything seemed completely different.
Once his identity changed and his worldview changed, the entire world in his eyes was reshaped.
The streets he had once passed through as a player now seemed unfamiliar yet strangely intimate. The elves he had once regarded as NPCs were now people he could truly interact with and form lasting relationships with.
He would form new relationships with the elves, and he would have a longer and more wonderful life ahead of him.
At the same time, Boxlunch’s relationship with the players would also be completely rewritten.
He no longer had the assistance of the game system, no longer had the ability to resurrect, no longer had a logout button, and no longer had a friends list…
The players no longer looked at him as an outstanding top-tier player. Instead, they now saw him as a special NPC.
It was a novel experience, one that felt strange at first. However, Boxlunch did not dislike it.
After all, everyone had to experience some new things in life, didn’t they?
That night, Boxlunch drank himself into a stupor…
When he woke up the next day, it was already noon.
He was neither in Nightingale’s estate nor in his own home. Instead, he found himself in a beautiful elven villa near Florence.
It was his new home, a gift from the Church of Life in gratitude for everything he had done for the elves over the years.
The villa was built in the typical elven style. It had three floors and was luxuriously and elegantly decorated. It stood beside a crystal-clear lake.
The surface of the lake glittered beneath the sunlight, and the water was so clear that the bottom could be seen. Beautiful white magical swans played, frolicked, rested, and flew across the water.
Behind the lake were rolling distant mountains. The lush forests had taken on a riot of colors in the autumn, creating a magnificent and enchanting autumn landscape.
In front of the villa was a sea of flowers. Although it was already autumn, the presence of nature magic allowed the flowers to continue blooming vibrantly. They blossomed in a dazzling array of colors, each competing for attention.
Looking at the clusters of flowers, Boxlunch felt his heart stir and walked outside.
He really liked this place.
Green mountains, clear waters, birds singing, and fragrant flowers.
He also loved this sea of flowers.
It was a scenery full of life and bursting with color.
Just as Boxlunch was wandering through the flowers, an enticing aroma drifted out of the villa and caught his attention.
Boxlunch slowly got to his feet and followed the aroma.
The fragrance came from the dining room. The exquisite dining table was covered with all kinds of delicious food. There were traditional elven dishes, delicacies from Earth, and, of course, even more fusion cuisine that combined the best of both worlds.
Meanwhile, a pretty elven girl was constantly moving between the kitchen and dining room.
It was Nightingale.
She was currently preparing brunch.
After several years, she had long since mastered all kinds of culinary techniques from Earth, and her cooking skills were excellent.
Boxlunch and his former teammates could all attest to that.
Seeing Boxlunch enter the dining room, Nightingale smiled faintly, like a flower blooming in early spring.
“You’re awake? How do you feel?”
Boxlunch nodded gently. He picked up a piece of specially prepared bread from the table, dipped it in elven fruit jam, and put it into his mouth. His eyes immediately lit up.
A familiar taste. A familiar deliciousness.
“You drank so much last night and barely ate anything. I thought… you’d definitely be very hungry when you woke up today.”
Nightingale smiled as she watched Boxlunch enjoy the food.
Then, with her sparkling eyes fixed expectantly on his, she asked:
“How is it? How does it taste? Is it good?”
Boxlunch could not help but praise it.
“It’s delicious.”
Hearing Boxlunch’s answer, Nightingale finally giggled.
“Of course. I know your tastes better than anyone.”
She patted her chest, clearly quite pleased with herself.
Seeing the happiness on the girl’s face, Boxlunch’s gaze grew even gentler.
At that moment, his eyes were bright and clear, seemingly carrying emotions that were difficult to describe.
Under his deep and affectionate gaze, two faint blushes gradually spread across Nightingale’s pretty face.
“Ahem… There’s also some vegetable soup. I’ll go bring it over.”
The girl coughed softly and turned to leave, like a startled fawn fleeing in panic.
But in the next moment, Boxlunch gently caught her right hand.
“Nightingale, wait…”
Boxlunch said.
Nightingale turned around and looked at him with surprise and confusion.
Boxlunch, meanwhile, stared directly into her eyes. His gaze seemed to contain an entire starry sky.
“Nightingale…”
Boxlunch spoke softly, his voice deep and hoarse, filled with boundless tenderness.
Suddenly, he reached behind himself with his other hand. In it was a freshly picked bouquet of brightly blooming flowers.
They were a bouquet of crimson roses.
“Nightingale…”
Boxlunch repeated.
He then dropped to one knee and reached out to take her hand.
“Nightingale, I love you. Will you stay with me forever?”
Nightingale froze.
She instinctively covered her mouth with her other hand, her vision gradually blurring with tears. She clearly had not expected Boxlunch to be so direct.
“Nightingale… I…”
Seeing the elven girl standing there in a daze, Boxlunch hesitated, suddenly unsure of what to do.
However, he soon received her answer.
“I… I will…”
Nightingale choked out.
“I will! I want to be with you!”
She repeated herself, as though afraid that Boxlunch might take back what he had just said.
Tears of joy were already slowly streaming down her beautiful cheeks…

Boxlunch and Nightingale’s wedding was held one month after his rebirth as a true elf.
The sky was clear that day, as though the heavens themselves were celebrating their matrimony.
A large number of elves, including Saintess Alice, were invited to attend. Meanwhile, players who had come after hearing the news brought even more excitement and liveliness to the villa by the lake.
Boxlunch’s former teammates, Little Salty Cat, Li Mu, and the others, all came as well.
A wedding march infused with elven elements slowly began to play. It was performed personally by the player band from the Moe Moe Committee.
The music was gentle and melodious, like a stream flowing quietly through the hearts of everyone on a spring day, causing their spirits to rise along with it.
Boxlunch wore a traditional elven robe embroidered with beautiful patterns and ornate elven blessings. He looked handsome and distinguished.
On the other side, Nightingale stood gracefully beside him, wearing a flower crown and an elegant elven gown, a blissful smile on her face. Her shining eyes met Boxlunch’s.
On the elevated platform, the Demigod Kelez wore a sacred priestly robe and stood with solemn dignity.
In one hand, Kelez held the thick Holy Codex of Life. In the other was a necklace bearing the symbol of the Scepter of Life.
Kelez gently raised the symbol of the goddess and solemnly drew the holy mark across his chest before turning to look at the two beside him.
His dignified voice slowly rang out:
“Mr. Boxlunch, are you willing to take Miss Nightingale as your wife, to stand by her in sickness and in health, to respect, cherish, and protect her forever, and to walk hand in hand with her throughout your lives?”
“I am!”
Boxlunch answered in a strong and resolute voice.
His expression was firm, his gaze profound, and his eyes filled with determination.
“Miss Nightingale, are you willing to marry Mr. Boxlunch and take him as your husband, to stand by each other through poverty and wealth, support one another, and remain together forever?”
Kelez turned toward Nightingale.
“I am!”
Nightingale’s voice was even louder than Boxlunch’s.
Her eyes shone brightly, brilliant as the stars.
Hearing their answers, a faint smile also appeared on Kelez’s solemn face.
“Then… so be it!”
“Here, in the name of the great Goddess of Life, the merciful Mother of Nature, the Divine Matriarch and protector of the elvenkind, the supreme World Tree, Her Majesty Evé Yggdrasill, I hereby proclaim…”
“Former Chosen One Boxlunch Shadowshade and Elven Guard Captain Nightingale Shadowshade have willingly chosen one another and, from this day forward, are now husband and wife.”
“May you bind yourselves to one another through love, show each other understanding and care, and share all the joys and sorrows that lie ahead.”
“May you never abandon one another, may your hearts remain forever connected, and may you never part until death.”
“May the radiance of the goddess forever shine upon you and bless you…”
Kelez’s blessing was sacred and solemn, and the wedding music reached its climax.
“Clap, clap, clap, clap…”
As the blessing ended, thunderous applause erupted from below the platform. Elves and players alike raised their hands and offered their blessings.
Cheers and congratulations rang out from all directions, accompanied by the explosions of magical fireworks and whistles, creating an extraordinarily festive atmosphere.
Brilliant light filled the sky.
Meanwhile, Optimist and the others in the front row were once again crying so hard that their noses were running.
“Waaah… Captain…”
“Your wish finally came true. Did you see it? Did you see it from up there, Captain?”
“Captain… waaah…”
Boxlunch: “…”
Not only did I see it, I am currently experiencing it!
The corner of his mouth twitched slightly.
The next moment, a sacred hymn slowly rang out, and golden radiance descended from the heavens.
Everyone could not help but look toward the sky. Countless golden motes of light fluttered through the air before slowly descending.
Flowers bloomed, and spring returned to the earth. Everyone present felt a warm and gentle power enter their bodies, easing their fatigue and strengthening their physiques.
“The goddess’s blessing! This is a blessing from the goddess!”
One of the players could not help but cry out in surprise.
The elves quickly realized what was happening as well. They looked toward the sky, toward the colossal tree that reached into the clouds in the distance, their expressions filled with excitement.
No one knew who started it, but gradually, one person after another knelt down. Facing the World Tree, they praised her with fervent devotion:
“Praise be to nature! Praise be to life! Praise be to the great Sovereign of the elves, the World Tree, Her Majesty Evé!”
Radiance shone brilliantly, and a divine miracle descended.
Amid the dazzling light, Boxlunch and Nightingale clasped each other’s hands tightly…
The two of them also turned toward the World Tree and bowed deeply in sincere devotion.
Reborn from the ashes, his wish fulfilled.
After experiencing this unbelievable miracle, Boxlunch finally became a true believer of the goddess at this moment.
༺⟐༻
The grand wedding of Boxlunch and Nightingale once again caused quite a stir in Elven Kingdom.
Both Boxlunch’s identity and the goddess’s blessing were enough to become hot topics among the players.
The story of Boxlunch and Nightingale had long since ceased to be a secret in the game. In fact, some of the top players often used it to tease the two.
And now, they had finally gotten together after so long.
Although this ‘Boxlunch’ was only a memorial NPC, to the vast majority of players, it could still be considered the fulfillment of the deceased’s wish.
Boxlunch, who wanted a new life, had finally gained a new life in “another world.”
While everyone sighed with emotion, they were also warmed by the tenderness shown by the devs of Elven Kingdom.
Well, everyone except Boxlunch himself.
Because he discovered that after becoming a believer of the goddess, the system had appeared once again.
However, unlike his previous system, what now appeared before his eyes was the NPC system, which could issue quests to players.
Thus, his peaceful life was once again disrupted, and he discovered that the way the players looked at him had changed once again.
It was a gaze he knew all too well.
There was excitement, flattery, and anticipation in those eyes…
It was the gaze players gave to quest NPCs.
Boxlunch: “…”
He suddenly realized that perhaps his future life was going to become even more dramatic and lively.
