Game of the World Tree
Chapter 787
【 BIG SISTER 】
—
Dawn slowly drew back the curtain of night, ushering in another vibrant and colorful morning.
When Four Seasons opened his eyes once more, two hours had already passed on Earth.
The crisp chirping of birds drifted in from outside the tent, seemingly from another world, and he could faintly hear the conversations of the players from the surrounding area.
Four Seasons sat up in his sleeping bag and stretched lazily.
Turning his head, he glanced beside him and found Yeye’s sleeping bag was already empty.
He had probably logged in long ago…
Checking the minimap, Four Seasons saw that the other party was still nearby and was currently together with Nana.
“Already being so lovey-dovey first thing in the morning, huh?”
He chuckled.
After putting on the set of Iron-rank equipment his younger cousin had given him, he stood before the crystal mirror inside the tent and took a look at himself.
Hmn. I look quite handsome and dashing!
Whilst humming along to the cheerful forest tune playing in the background, Four Seasons lifted the tent flap and stepped outside.
The morning sunlight was gentle, and the mist lingering within the forest had yet to dissipate. A faint veil of fog also drifted across the construction site.
As for the great canyon on the other side, it resembled a vast sea of mist. The canyon floor was completely hidden from view, leaving only the endlessly rolling fog visible.
The sight was truly magnificent.
By now, the construction site was bustling with activity, even more crowded than it had been before Four Seasons logged off the previous day.
Not only that, he could also see a steady stream of new players arriving from the forest.
Some had even set up stalls in the open area of the outpost, loudly advertising their wares.
Curiously observing everything around him, Four Seasons wondered whether all these players had come to see the “Big Sister” Yeye had mentioned.
Just then, several resounding dragon roars echoed through the sky, accompanied by a massive shadow overhead.
The dragon cries immediately caught his attention.
Instinctively, he looked toward the source of the sound and saw several players soaring across the heavens atop majestic dragons.
Each dragon had a wingspan of nearly ten meters, and their scales came in a variety of colors.
The players riding them were even more eye-catching. Their equipment was increasingly extravagant, and each radiated a stronger presence than the last.
“It’s Brother Mu! And Boss Cat!”
The players at the construction site immediately began discussing excitedly.
Brother Mu?
The streamer Li Mu?
Four Seasons’ heart stirred.
He had heard of Li Mu before. The man was a well-known streamer and video creator.
Unfortunately, it was said that ever since he became addicted to Elven Kingdom, the quality and frequency of his uploads had taken a serious hit.
The dragon riders circled above the construction site once before finding an open area and descending.
The moment they landed, players swarmed toward them, creating an even livelier scene.
Four Seasons was curious as well.
However, seeing the excellent equipment worn by the players gathering around them, he hesitated and ultimately chose not to approach.
It was not until Yeye and Nana arrived at his side and gave him a pat on the shoulder that he snapped out of his thoughts.
“Cousin, what are you spacing out for? Our guildmaster’s here. Wait, I’ll introduce you.”
“The guildmaster?”
Four Seasons blinked in surprise.
Watching Yeye walk toward the landed dragons, a thought surfaced in his mind.
Could it be… Li Mu?
That was his guess.
However, just as Four Seasons expected his cousin to stop in front of the player named Li Mu, Yeye instead halted before the petite female player.
She had arrived riding a golden dragon and was dressed in a set of magnificent mage robes. The golden dragon beneath her was also the most beautiful and striking among all the dragons present.
She was not alone, however.
Accompanying her was a warrior. Although his level was very high, his equipment appeared somewhat shabby in comparison.
“Boss Cat! Brother Optimist!”
Yeye greeted them enthusiastically.
The female player he addressed as Boss Cat smiled and nodded in response.
“Yeye, you’re here too?”
Then she turned her gaze toward Four Seasons, curiosity appearing in her eyes.
“And this is…?”
“This is my cousin. He just started playing the game, and I’ve been helping him level up.”
Yeye explained.
Afterward, he introduced the two players to Four Seasons.
“Cousin, this is Boss Cat, the guildmaster of Moe Moe Committee. Her username is Little Salty Cat.”
“And this is Optimist. That golden dragon belongs to Brother Optimist. He only returned after completing a hidden quest in another dimension not too long ago. Recently, he’s been organizing power-leveling service run for the Demon Lord Labyrinth. Once you reach level cap of Iron-rank, you can join one of his runs.”
As Yeye made the introductions, the mage player known as Little Salty Cat and the warrior player known as Optimist both nodded politely toward Four Seasons.
“Hello! Since you’re Yeye’s cousin, that makes you one of us. Once you reach the Iron-rank level cap, you’re more than welcome to join our guild!”
Little Salty Cat smiled warmly as she extended her hand and shook his.
“Elven Kingdom is actually quite a complicated game, and it isn’t particularly beginner-friendly. If there’s anything you don’t understand, feel free to ask me, especially when it comes to skills.”
Optimist also shook his hand and spoke in a steady voice.
“Thank you.”
Four Seasons replied gratefully.
He could genuinely feel the goodwill radiating from both of them.
Their warmth and friendliness left a pleasant feeling in his heart.
He had played plenty of virtual reality MMORPGs before, but very few had a truly positive community atmosphere.
Most VRMMORPGs marketed themselves on realism. Many contained questionable content designed to attract attention, and their player communities were generally competitive and chaotic.
Elven Kingdom, however, felt completely different.
How should he put it?
The players here seemed more united, and the bonds between people appeared much stronger…
At the same time, Four Seasons realized that the two individuals standing before him clearly held significant status within the game.
He could almost feel the envious gazes being directed at him from all around.
Faintly, he could even hear the whispers of nearby players.
“Who is that guy? He looks like a newcomer but he’s already gotten acquainted with Boss Cat?”
“And even Optimist is talking to him. What luck!”
“I think he’s Yeye’s friend…”
“Ah no wonder, that makes sense.”
Four Seasons: “…”
For the first time, he felt that he might have underestimated his cousin’s popularity in Elven Kingdom.
After the introductions, Little Salty Cat began chatting casually with Yeye. Soon, several other top players from Moe Moe Committee joined the conversation as well.
Since Four Seasons was still unfamiliar with both the game and most of the people present, he did not participate. Instead, he quietly listened from the side.
“Boss Cat, why didn’t you have Meryer bring you here today? That would’ve looked so impressive!”
“Meryer? Tch, that guy said he wanted to carry Big Sister instead.”
“Big Sister? Meryer’s not that close to her, right?”
“Who knows? He seems pretty respectful toward her.”
“Hasn’t Meryer already become a god?”
“Yeah, but Big Sister is the Goddess’s envoy…”
The players continued chatting casually, and Four Seasons grew increasingly curious.
Meryer?
Become a god?
Noticing his confusion, Yeye quietly explained:
“Meryer is a black dragon, a genuine Mythical-rank Dragon. He’s incredibly majestic! Oh, yeah, his favorite food is honey-roasted meat. I remember you’re pretty good at cooking, right, Cousin? You could try making some for him. Who knows, you might even trick a few dragon scales out of him… Those things sell for a fortune!”
Four Seasons nodded and committed the name Meryer to memory.
At that moment, Little Salty Cat resumed her conversation with Yeye.
“Yeye, are you joining the exploration later?”
“Me? Nah. I’m taking my cousin here to grind until he reaches the Iron-rank level cap.”
“You can level up while exploring too, you know.”
“I’ll pass. I heard the high-rank magical beasts around the canyon have been increasing lately. It’d be bad if things went wrong.”
Exploration?
Once again, Four Seasons became curious.
It was only after Nana explained things to him that he finally understood.
The northwestern region of the Elven Forest was populated by a large number of magical beasts and had always been an area rarely visited by players.
Therefore, as the game’s storyline progressed, the monsters there grew increasingly powerful. Combined with the difficult terrain and the lack of any particularly valuable rewards, fewer and fewer players were willing to venture into the region.
Now, however, things were different.
Zero, the Goddess’s envoy, was about to construct a massive bridge spanning the canyon, and the location of the new city had also been designated there. As a result, exploration efforts had become a priority.
Moreover, rumors suggested that the ruins of the two remaining undiscovered Elven cities, along with a dimensional passageway that could connect to a hidden quest world, were located on the far side of the grand canyon.
With all these factors combined, a large number of players had decided to head over and investigate the area once Big Sister completed the bridge across the grand canyon.
After hearing Nana’s explanation, Four Seasons felt somewhat embarrassed.
“Sorry. You guys could’ve gone exploring too… How about this, why don’t you go explore first? I’ll figure out how to level on my own, and you can help me later when you have time.”
He suggested.
However, Yeye and Nana both waved their hands dismissively.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. Exploring in Elven Kingdom isn’t that easy. Normally, spending ten days to half a month exploring a new map is completely normal. So one day won’t make any difference at all.”
Four Seasons was about to say something else when another dragon’s roar suddenly echoed across the sky.
That roar was even more resonant than the ones before, carrying a power that seemed capable of piercing straight into the soul.
The next moment, the entire world suddenly dimmed as cheers erupted from the surrounding players.
“It’s Meryer and Big Sister!”
“Meryer and Big Sister are here!”
Hearing the excited shouts around him, Four Seasons looked toward the source of the sound.
The instant he did, his mouth fell open in shock.
High above, a terrifying black dragon with a wingspan spanning hundreds of meters circled through the sky, blotting out the sunlight.
Its black scales shimmered brilliantly beneath the sun, and its powerful body exuded unparalleled majesty.
Looking at that colossal form, Four Seasons felt an immense and overwhelming presence crashing toward him like a tidal wave.
His entire body trembled uncontrollably.
Only after the terrifying black dragon let out another mighty roar, shrinking its body and suppressing its aura, did he finally recover.
It was only then that Four Seasons realized he was drenched in cold sweat.
So… so powerful!
His heart shook with awe.
If the magical beasts he had previously fought felt like towering mountains, then this black dragon felt like a boundless ocean whose depths could never be measured.
So this… was a Mythical-rank being within the game?
Could he… one day reach such a rank himself?
Excitement filled Four Seasons’ heart.
Under the eager gazes of countless players, the black dragon slowly descended to the ground.
Four Seasons watched as a female elf clad in black armored robes lightly leaped from its back.
She was an elven NPC with fair skin and delicate features. Her dark silver hair was tied into a high ponytail, giving her a heroic and valiant appearance.
Her eyes were a captivating violet-red, beautiful and mesmerizing.
The feeling she gave Four Seasons was that of a towering iceberg.
Yet beneath that iceberg, there seemed to be blazing flames hidden from view.
Compared to the massive black dragon, her figure was insignificant in size.
Yet Four Seasons keenly noticed that the mighty dragon, despite its immense power, appeared somewhat restrained in her presence.
The moment the players saw the female elf, the cheers became even louder.
“Big Sister is here!”
“Good morning, Big Sister!”
“Big Sister, I’m your fan! Please look this way!”
Big Sister!
So this was the person everyone had been talking about, the Divine Envoy, Big Sister Zero!
Four Seasons’ heart skipped a beat.
At that moment, he saw Zero slightly furrow her brows and calmly sweep her gaze across the group of players cheering the loudest.
In the very next second, the entire crowd instantly fell silent.
Everyone quickly covered their mouths and behaved themselves.
Zero’s brows relaxed.
She withdrew her gaze and walked toward the edge of the cliff.
Four Seasons stared blankly at the scene.
A strange thought surfaced in his mind.
The players… seem to be afraid of this taciturn-looking Big Sister.
“It’s about to start.”
Yeye leaned closer and spoke in a low voice.
Four Seasons gathered his thoughts and looked toward the valiant female figure.
His eyes widened.
For some reason, he suddenly found himself looking forward to witnessing the supposed legendary spell.
Soon, the construction site near the cliff grew completely quiet.
Even Meryer, who had transformed into a humanoid elven boy and had been chatting with Little Salty Cat, stopped speaking.
Every pair of eyes focused on the female figure standing at the edge of the canyon.
Zero stood upon the cliff, the canyon winds lifting her hair and adding an ethereal grace to her already imposing presence.
She slowly raised both hands.
Golden radiance gathered around her body.
“Rise.”
Four Seasons heard her say.
Her voice was clear and ethereal.
The next moment, an overwhelming torrent of magical power erupted from her body, surging outward like a raging flood.
The immense power poured into the earth.
Then, the ground began to tremble violently.
Under Four Seasons’ astonished gaze, cracks spread across the ground as countless young sprouts emerged from the fissures.
The sprouts rapidly grew larger and thicker.
In the blink of an eye, they had become towering trees.
Each tree was at least four or five meters thick, and they continued growing and transforming without pause. Their numbers increased continuously, while countless vines sprouted and wrapped around them.
Yet this was not the end.
The trunks of the giant trees continued to extend, intertwining with one another like countless ropes.
Gradually, they fused together into a broad and level bridge deck that stretched toward the opposite side of the canyon thousands of meters away.
Farther and farther it extended.
Lush green leaves unfurled from the branches.
The branches then separated and gathered along both sides of the bridge, forming long green railings resembling handrails.
Before the stunned eyes of the players, a colossal bridge made of living wood spanning the entire canyon appeared.
The bridge was over three hundred meters wide.
It resembled a gigantic arch bridge suspended in the air.
Unlike an ordinary bridge, however, it was covered in thriving greenery and overflowing with life.
From the moment she began casting to the completion of the bridge, less than a minute had passed.
As Four Seasons gazed at the enormous wooden bridge that seemed no different from a divine miracle, only a single thought remained in his mind.
Amazing… truly amazing!
