Game Maker: Starting by Healing the Players

Chapter 803 - 803: This Damned Resentment

  • Next Chapter

Back in my previous life, the most famous mods for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim were these "laboratory" mods.

Lucas didn't have too many strong opinions about these mods, though.

After all, it's common knowledge that men are divided into two types: perverts, and old perverts.

But this was different from his previous life because The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's development tools were provided by the official developers.

Therefore, Lucas had implemented some restrictions to ensure there wouldn't be any overly inappropriate content.

However, it was clear that players had a strong interest in creating such things, and the players below this particular post showed an unprecedented level of unity.

It was like the difference between a regular forum and an "old pervert" forum.

Regular forums were often filled with insults, drama, and factions.

People might even argue for half a day about whether savory or sweet tofu pudding was tastier, only for spicy tofu pudding to jump in and throw a flurry of punches.

But in the "old pervert" forums, you barely saw any of that drama. Here, you saw the best of human nature, with everyone posting "Thanks, OP," and "Wishing you a good life," full of blessings.

It perfectly showcased the saying, "My body is in hell, but my heart yearns for light."

Lucas shook his head gently, sighing, and clicked in to see the latest progress.

Well... it was pretty good.

After glancing at it with a critical eye, Lucas gave a reminder to the team responsible for the mod community.

Nebula Games couldn't pretend not to see anything involving official content. As for what players did privately, they'd just turn a blind eye.

Nebula Games hadn't encountered this kind of situation before. The only difference was that the platform had become VR.

Many game developers, both domestic and international, hold a similar attitude towards mods.

If it doesn't involve their own interests, they might just ignore it.

And in reality, there weren't as many players interested in mods like "Love Skyrim" as one might think. Most were just interested in the novelty and curiosity. Especially since installing these mods was quite troublesome, and many players wouldn't even know how to install them. It wasn't nearly as simple as the official built-in mod store, where you just need to subscribe for a near-foolproof installation.

So, more players used mods that involved adjusting character movements with bone systems, or character replacement mods.

.........

Ben was exploring The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

But unlike the Skyrim he remembered, Anna's Skyrim now had a drastically altered art style.

"This mod is really well done!"

"The Skyrim Nebula Girls Group Debut!"

In the game, Ben, controlling the Dragonborn, said happily.

A line of followers stood before him.

Ciri, Yennefer, Silvalas, Guangyan, Elizabeth, the Fire Keeper, Nagatomi... a whole lineup of extremely popular female protagonists from Nebula Games.

He chuckled, gave a command in the game, and opened a music software to play the backing track.

The next moment, the followers in the game began to perform a wild dance in the arena.

Compared to various quest mods, terrain mods, and function mods, simple model replacements were much easier.

Combined with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's bone system, custom animations could even be designed specifically for these actions.

As a result, many mod players found themselves noticing that Skyrim's art style was going a bit astray.

This was no longer the original Elder Scrolls! It had directly become "Waifu Scrolls"!

Many even said that since these mods appeared, their bodies had gotten increasingly weaker.

But jokes and complaints notwithstanding, many players, after experiencing the epic storyline of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, went on to install various mods.

After all, who could resist cute girls?

And with more and more mod authors joining in,

large quest mods, terrain mods, and various gameplay function mods also gradually appeared.

However, most were still these follower and model mods, because they were pleasing to the eye.

After all, most players' fun was in playing games properly while being "old perverts" in those games.

And in the "proper" games, being an "old pervert."

Deliberately crouching in the game and tilting the camera upwards is something that, if not absolute, most players have probably done.

.........

The development of Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country DLC, along with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and its related mods, meant that Nebula Games' top-tier core team was currently in a resting phase.

Of course, several of their studios were still quite busy with operations and updates for multiplayer online games like Dota, as well as some experimental small and medium-sized games.

But for Lucas right now, life was quite leisurely.

On the large screen in the rest area, watching the gameplay footage of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim being shown, Lucas was a bit speechless.

"Which genius made this mod?"

Good heavens, this was a fashion show for Nebula Games' male and female protagonists.

Arthur Morgan and Mary, Link and Mipha, Ezio and Cristina, Lara and Zhen, Chen Qingsui and Lin Lixun...

All of them were couples from Nebula Games who, for various reasons, ultimately couldn't end up happily together.

"Boss Lucas, do you feel the players' resentment! This is the 'Couple's Resentment' version. And there's more coming with the 'Best Friends Resentment' version led by Call of Duty, and the 'Family Resentment' version led by Resident Evil."

As Lucas watched, a voice sounded beside him. Anna stood next to him, holding a cup of milk tea.

"Hmm, compared to this damned resentment, I think if I were to release a half-finished game and declare it a 'lifetime series,' it would stir up even more player resentment," Lucas said with a smile, thinking of something.

Anna, biting her straw, was stunned: "Boss Lucas, are those the words of a human being!?"

"What? Can't I express my own feelings and resist a little?" Lucas chuckled.

"Boss Lucas, this isn't resistance, this is seeking death!" Rachel, who had arrived at some point, interjected.

"Exactly, exactly!" Anna nodded.

Why does this person always toy with the edge of self-destruction?

"It's not a big problem. Players should be used to it by now. And besides, I'm just saying." Lucas smiled.

"Boss Lucas, you're definitely thinking something devious!" Rachel didn't believe him.

"Not before, but seeing this 'Resentment Collection' mod, I really do have some ideas," Lucas said.

"New project!?" Anna was surprised to hear Lucas's words. There really was one!?

"Boss Lucas, what is it? You don't really plan to mess with the players again, do you?" Rachel had a bad feeling.

"What do you mean 'mess with players'? I'm a designer who loves players. I never do things like that. When do players ever buy things without complaining? What does that tell you? Players actually have tsundere tendencies."

"As for the new project, didn't we put a lot of Easter eggs in World of Warcraft back then? Like Link, Mario, Ezio, Arthur Morgan, Geralt, these characters all made cameos in Azeroth."

"A new game's character has actually already made a cameo in Azeroth."

Lucas, sitting there, smiled slightly.

"They made a cameo appearance in a game!?" Anna's eyes widened in shock.

She wasn't happy about this news, but rather because this news was as good as saying nothing at all!

Azeroth was so vast, with cities for each race.

Combined with the Easter eggs, Lucas himself was in charge of all of that back then.

And now, without even mentioning which city belonged to the Alliance or the Horde, even Detective Geralt couldn't have figured it out!

Watching Lucas get up and leave, Anna sat in her seat, completely bewildered.

At this moment, Marcus, Hector, and others who had noticed the commotion from nearby also gathered around.

"Anna, what were you just talking to Boss Lucas about!?"

"Yeah, you look so stunned, was it some big news?"

"I think I heard World of Warcraft. Are we going back to handle the follow-up versions? But the World of Warcraft team is doing a great job."

Anna gently shook her head: "No, Boss Lucas told me about a new project."

New project!?

Hearing this, everyone became even more excited.

"What new project? Is it God of War's sequel? Will Kratos finally get his axe back!?"

"Resident Evil Village's sequel, revealing Ethan's life or death mystery?"

Seeing everyone's curious faces, Anna pursed her lips and gave a polite smile.

"Want to know the secret of the new game?"

"If you want to know, then go find it! Boss Lucas has put all the secrets in Azeroth!"

Everyone: ??????????
