Game Maker: Starting by Healing the Players
Chapter 797 - 797: This is the Dragonborn
In the game, Ben had pushed the main quest to the end.
After passing Greybeard's trial, he was granted the title of Ismir by Greybeard.
He then met two Blades warriors whom Ben thought were cleaning toilets at the Blades Guild. With their help, he learned the true reason for the dragons' appearance.
The legendary World-Eater, Alduin, was reviving dragons to prepare to restore dragon rule over humanity.
After deciphering the message left by ancient Blades warriors on the Dragon Wall, the Dragonborn went to the Throat of the World. With the help and guidance of the Greybeard leader, Paarthurnax, they found the Elder Scroll (Dragon).
Using the power of the Elder Scroll (Dragon), the Dragonborn traveled through time and space to learn the dragon shout that counters Alduin – Dragon Aspect – from the one-eyed Harkon, the Golden Blade Glass, and the old man Fidel. Together with Paarthurnax, they confronted Alduin at the Throat of the World and temporarily drove him back.
After repelling Alduin, Paarthurnax told the Dragonborn that Alduin, to regain his strength, would go to Shor's domain, Sovngarde, and feast on the souls of dead Nords there.
So, to pursue Alduin, the Dragonborn defeated and tamed one of Alduin's dragon subordinates, Odahviing. With Odahviing's help, they arrived at the Temple of Skuldafn to find the entrance to Sovngarde.
Upon entering Sovngarde, they were greeted by the shield-thane of Shor, Gormlaith Golden-Hilt, and entered the Hall of Valor, where they met the legendary heroes Harkon and others, who had become honored dead.
During this journey, the place that amazed Ben the most was Sovngarde.
A place like paradise, with sky-light like a rainbow and a starry sky, the Hall of Valor floating on the endless sea, green mountains, accompanied by dreamlike background music, reminded Ben of Toussaint in "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt."
Of course, before heading to Sovngarde, the Blackreach map, accessed through the Alftand Cathedral while searching for the 'Elder Scroll (Dragon),' nearly killed Ben.
All sorts of strange mushroom-like plants, combined with the dark game scenery, instantly made Ben feel like he was back in "Bloodborne" and "Dark Souls." What was even more deadly was that the Blackreach map was extremely, extremely large, making it impossible for him, a terrible navigator, to figure out the correct path.
"Everything is over, and it's finally time for the final battle with Alduin!" Ben said with deep emotion, looking at his weapon.
During this long game journey, players online had already discovered various in-game playstyles.
The consensus among the most powerful was the so-called "three gods" loop. By leveling up Alchemy, Smithing, and Enchanting – skills most players considered supportive – to level 100, they could then craft weapons with high damage, armor with high defense, and enchantments with high power.
However, although Ben understood the gameplay, he didn't pursue it because it required a massive amount of material grinding and leveling.
On the other hand, there was the "all-rounder trash" who started as a mage early on, became an archer in the mid-game, an assassin in the late-mid-game, and a warrior again in the very late game. As long as one embraced easy difficulty, it was very easy to play.
Three gods? Shield warrior? Engineer? Illusion assassin? What are those? Is there happiness greater than my all-rounder warrior's joy?
As long as the difficulty is easy enough, no matter the playstyle, you can punch Alduin to death with your bare hands.
As the three heroes unleashed a dragon shout to dispel the mist, Alduin descended from the sky.
'The endless wait has finally led to battle! It's the day of Alduin's judgment, it's either him or us!'
'You're not getting away this time, bug!'
'Your doom has come, bug!'
With roars of fury, the World-Eater Alduin, along with three Nord heroes transformed into honored dead and the legendary Last Dragonborn, gathered in Sovngarde. A world-shattering battle was about to begin.
Of course, the above scene was what Ben imagined in his mind.
In reality, a world-shattering battle was indeed taking place.
But the main participants were Alduin and three Nord honored dead, while Ben, the legendary Dragonborn who saved the world, stood far away. Occasionally, he would let out a dragon shout to knock the flying Alduin out of the sky, and he also had to use potions to dodge fireballs falling from above.
"Alduin truly lives up to being the ultimate boss. His health bar is so thick; I think these three old heroes will take a few more minutes."
Ben looked relaxed. Before the fight, he was a little bit nervous.
But the easy difficulty was so friendly; this final Alduin didn't even need him to act personally. He just needed to stand by and occasionally cast a dragon shout to prevent Alduin from flying away.
The rest was left to the three old heroes. As for himself, he stayed far away from Alduin, because the biggest threat to him now wasn't Alduin, but the fireballs from the sky.
Even on easy difficulty, getting hit by one of these fireballs would take about a fifth of his health.
With an arrow shot, Alduin's last bit of health was taken.
A shrill roar came from Alduin's mouth.
With the assistance of the three honored dead, Alduin's physical body was successfully destroyed.
But his dragon soul returned to the heavens and earth.
"Finally got rid of Alduin!"
Ben was completely satisfied.
Even though he slacked off a bit, he only hit Alduin about six or seven times throughout the entire fight, but what did that matter?
This was the Dragonborn, a being who could save the world even while slacking off.
After defeating Alduin, Ben didn't exit the game.
Because there was still much more content to explore in Skyrim.
Especially since Lucas had added the DLC content from his previous life into the main game.
In the Dragonborn's story, players are attacked by a group of mysterious cultists in the city.
By searching the letters on the cultists' corpses, they learn that these cultists serve a person named Miraak.
They travel to the island where the Temple of Miraak is located, delve into the temple ruins, and by reading an evil magical book, the Dragonborn enters another dimension and learns Miraak's true identity.
During the period when dragons ruled mortals, Miraak was a Dragon Priest on the island of Solstheim and the first Dragonborn in history.
That black book was an artifact of Hermaeus Mora, the Daedric Prince of Knowledge and Fate.
Through it, Miraak gained the ability to twist the willpower of others with a dragon shout, and he betrayed the dragons, fleeing to Solstheim.
On Solstheim, an epic battle occurred between Miraak and Volothamp, who came to capture him.
But in the end, he was defeated, and the temple was razed to the ground. The defeated Miraak then fled into Mora's black book to await his return.
However, just as everything was ready for his return to the real world, he was killed by the Last Dragonborn and the Daedric Prince Mora.
In this series of quests, players can master the new dragon shout skill 'Bend Will' and three power runes.
With the Bend Will dragon shout, players can force dragons to become their mounts and soar through the world of Skyrim.
In addition, unique dragon shouts like Dragon Aspect can only be completed in these quests.
...
Another questline, Dawnguard, is also very rich.
However, the protagonist of this questline is not the Dragonborn, but a vampire.
After the Hall of Vigilant in Stendarr was destroyed by a vampire attack, the Dragonborn accidentally learned of a vampire hunter organization called the Dawnguard.
To stop vampires from continuing to harm the people of Skyrim, the Dragonborn joined the Dawnguard.
Deep within Dimhollow Crypt, the Dragonborn discovered a female vampire named Serana, sealed in a sarcophagus for a thousand years.
At the same time, this vampire also possessed an Elder Scroll.
It turns out Serana belonged to an ancient and powerful vampire clan in Skyrim.
Her father, Harkon, the leader of these vampires, thanked the Dragonborn for bringing his daughter back.
He decided to grant the Dragonborn the power of Vampire Lord and invited them to join their ranks.
Here, players can choose to transform their race into a vampire.
In the days that followed, the Dragonborn and Serana learned of Harkon's plan to blot out the sun, which would plunge the world into darkness.
At the same time, other races would not spare the vampires. To stop Harkon, the Dragonborn and Serana read three Elder Scrolls.
From the Elf Archbishop Vyrthur, who had become a vampire, they obtained Auriel's Bow and finally shattered Harkon's conspiracy.
The most exciting reward in this questline was not any artifact, nor learning a new dragon shout, nor becoming a vampire.
It was gaining a new follower, the noble Lady Serana, who was the main source of motivation.
As one of the most beautiful female characters in all of Skyrim.
To be honest, Serana's beauty is only an 80, but it depends on who you compare her to.
At least in Skyrim, those ugly faces are no match for her.
Besides these two DLC plots,
there are many other rich side quests.
The four guilds: Companions, Dark Brotherhood, College of Mages, and Thieves Guild.
The romantic Bard College questline, and the Skyrim civil war, choosing between the Empire or the Stormcloaks.
Giants, Blades warriors, Dragon Priests... and the homesteading gameplay.
It can be said that even though it is a single-player game, "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" truly lives up to the saying that if you only complete the main story, the game has just begun.
This is why Lucas and his team have not yet released MOD creation tools.
Because the content of the base game alone is enough for players to immerse themselves for a long time.
