227 Meeting the Ice Dragon
After deceiving Yuan Chunhua, Jiang Ming had successfully made a detour and was on his way toward the Ice Dragon habitat. Throughout the time, Jiang Ming had been pondering over what to do and calculating the options available to him.
The first option was naturally obvious- confront the Ice Dragon and try to annihilate it. However, that was equivalent to trying to throw an egg toward a rock and expecting the rock to receive some sort of damage.
Thus, that option was quickly eliminated by Jiang Ming since he wasn’t a fool to believe he was strong enough to contend with an Ice Dragon.
So what if he had the knowledge advantage?
Without practical strength to back it up, the knowledge was akin to air and is worthless in front of absolute power.
‘Ugh, why is my luck getting more and more unlucky lately?’ Jiang Ming gritted his teeth in frustration. When he pondered what had gone wrong in his path… he couldn’t help but blame it on the bane of his existence, Qi Shan.
Everything was extremely smooth-sailing, and he was like a local tyrant in the Northern Continent until he had unexpectedly summoned Qi Shan.
“Tch, I bet many are cursing and insulting me for acting like a coward when I first re-encountered her.” He said aloud, feeling incredibly frustrated at the outcome.
Once he finished venting for a while, Jiang Ming regained his composure and started to explore his other option- befriending the Ice Dragon.
Naturally, this option difficulty was extremely difficult to achieve. Dragons are naturally born powerhouses and would rarely put a cultivator into their eyes.
To gain their approval or even a chance to communicate with them was even more difficult than ascending to heaven.
Jiang Ming breathed heavily as he could only take a gamble this time. By the time he reached the entrance of the resting Ice Dragon, he closed his eyes and gradually manifested a cube-shaped object from his body.
The item was the Gamer’s Cube that he had gotten from completing the sudden quest. Although he was still unsure of its origin and only got a vague explanation from Shaung Shu, he could predict that this item was invaluable.
In addition to that, he had another insurance up his sleeve, and that was the Soul-Binding Item he had used on Qi Shan. With that item, Jiang Ming could use a part of her power and boost his strength, allowing him to be able to hold his ground against the Ice Dragon if things went south.
Taking a deep breath, Jiang Ming mustered up his courage as he slowly utilized the Moonstow Flow to circle around him, creating a heat barrier. The Ice Dragon resting area was naturally the coldest and without any heat source, one would instantly turn into an ice statue.
The moment he stepped forward, Jiang Ming sensed a slight movement from the Ice Dragon.
Although there were still some distances between them, Jiang Ming saw the scale of the Ice Dragon and that its sheer size was comparable to the Royal Palace of the Northern Continent.
Slowly, the Ice Dragon opened its eyes and stared at Jiang Ming.
The moment he received the stare, Jiang Ming felt electrocuted and had a delusion of being paralyzed. His scalp even tingled for a bit and it was the first time that he had ever felt threatened since coming into this world.
After all, what he received was equivalent to a mental attack. Mental attacks were extremely difficult to guard against and one could even turn crazy from the side effects.
Luckily, the difference in this mental attack was that the Ice Dragon had no intention of dealing damage to Jiang Ming. Otherwise, Jiang Ming would most likely be pulverized in an instant. This was just a natural trait of the Ice Dragon being in which their presence alone was enough to send shivers to everyone.
Jiang Ming swallowed a mouthful of salvia nervously as he knew one misstep and he might just be blown into smithereens.
“Greetings almighty Ice Dragon,” Jiang Ming cupped his fist and said respectfully. “I’m Jiang Ming and I did not mean to disturb your rest…”
Before Jiang Ming could speak another word, the Ice Dragon suddenly made a loud growl toward him.
The growl had a deafening sound and nearly caused his eardrums to erupt. Luckily, Jiang Ming was mentally prepared for the reaction and had long utilized his spiritual qi to coat his ear to protect himself.
The growling lasted for a mere 3 seconds, but the impact was enough to make any ordinary person wet their pants or possibly die from shock.
The Ice Dragon was extremely displeased that someone had intruded while he was sleeping soundly. Thus, it taught Jiang Ming a small lesson, and continued to glare at him, wondering what a puny human was doing here.
‘No one had ever entered this place for a long time. Just how did a puny human manage to shatter the void and enter this forbidden place?’ The Ice Dragon wondered in its mind.
Given the isolation and that he was alone for an unknown amount of time, he didn’t directly kill Jiang Ming. Instead, he was thinking about toying with Jiang Ming to kill some of his boredom.
Just when he was about to implant some of his spiritual power to control Jiang Ming, his eyes widened in shock when he noticed a cube in his hand.
‘T-That’s the cube of the Primordial being… How did a puny human with such weak strength grab a hold of it?’ Shock and disbelief filled the eyes of the Ice Dragon. He no longer dared to underestimate Jiang Ming and started to act cautiously.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ming coughed slightly as he held the Gamer’s Cube up for display.
At the same time, he opened his mouth and said, “I have inherited this Gamer’s Cube from someone and he entrusted me with an important task that is related to the whole universe. Therefore, I hoped that we could have a proper conversation with you.”
