184 Soul-Binding Item
Seeing Qi Shan’s attitude and feisty behavior as usual, Jiang Ming felt like laughing.
‘Indeed… seeing her is just like seeing my ugly fat appearance back on Earth.’ He thought.
Although the appearance was incomparable, the circumstances and the feelings they have were the same. Both of them just wanted some warmth from others, but could never obtain it.
His parents on Earth were extremely embarrassed to have him as their son, and his older siblings regard him as nothing but a scorn. As for school, he was often the bullied target for his disgusting appearance, and even the teacher would deliberately fail him or find his fault just so he would get out of the classroom.
Such is the horrendous life of his past life until he met with Qi Shan in Cultivation Omega.
He might have been bullied by her in the beginning, but as they interacted further, he heard more and more of her stories. Stories that had a similar outcome as him.
As the saying goes, misery enjoys company. That was how they began to view each other as a companion that was close but not quite lovers.
“My bad, Qi Shan. It’s just that the owner of this place is some annoying mature woman who has a pretty face.” Jiang Ming explained..
“Tch, you were probably mesmerized by her looks huh.” Qi Shan clicked her tongue, clearly being jealous.
“I admit that I’m a playboy type, but you can’t just accuse me like that, Qi Shan.” Jiang Ming said calmly. “You should know very well that I don’t care about their looks if they were ever my enemies. Haven’t you seen how I tortured those women back in our old days?”
Qi Shan remained silent and had her back facing him. Her attitude and demeanor were clear as day. She wanted to be pacified and get some benefits.
Jiang Ming scratched his head slightly.
‘Why are you suddenly pouting?’ He wondered silently. They had made an agreement for her to act her part among the group of participants, and he was already being generous by playing along with her.
“Sigh, here you go then,” He said exhaustedly, bringing out the Soul-Binding item. The Soul-Binding was a reward for his effort in completing the mission, but he hadn’t had the time to actually review it.
After all, he got it during the time while he was communicating with the Primordial Cultivator in an unknown space environment.
“What is this?” Qi Shan’s facial expression quickly changed as her mood brightened up. Her hand started fidgeting around the Soul-Binding item.
Jiang Ming shrugged his shoulders.
Ding!
<Soul-Binding Item is a resonance item that allows two souls to connect with each other and form a close pact. Once the two souls are connected, they are able to share their power with each other>
<Example being that one soul could temporarily borrow the power from the second soul to increase their strength. Of course, given the mythic grade item, there will be no side-effect except for a cooldown of usage>
–
Seeing the system prompt, Jiang Ming repeated word for word to Qi Shan.
“Anyway, this means that I’ll be able to use your power temporarily if I wish to increase my strength and vice versa.”
“Woah, such a miraculous item actually exists huh.” Qi Shan was awestruck by the effect of the item in her hand. Sharing power was extremely uncommon in the cultivation world since most cultivators are the selfish type that cared more about themselves.
Why would they be willing to share an ounce of their power with others?
Hell, they might not even share their power with their dao companion or significant others. It was due to the greed of people that nobody had ever bothered to forge such an item to sell.
“So do you like the gift?” Jiang Ming asked. “If you do, then stop pouting like a little girl.”
Qi Shan nodded her head. She didn’t even care whether the item was a valuable one or not. All she cared about was who gave her the item.
“Thank you, Jiang Ming.” She stored the item into her spatial ring and smiled brightly.
Jiang Ming showed a slight smile as well and patted her head softly.
“Now stop trying to bully me like you did when I first summoned you. I had truly gone to search for you when you disappeared, but then a demon came to me that you went back.” He explained.
“What? When did I say I went back?” Qi Shan narrowed her eyes coldly. “How could you blindly believe in a demon’s words?”
“Of course, I don’t blindly believe in him. I literally grabbed him and started thrashing him to give me the evidence.” Jiang Ming quickly defended himself and asked her to listen first.
“The demon had a video transmission of you telling me that you’re safe and sound. In addition to that, you said you will be gone for a long time.”
“The video doesn’t prove shit. It could be a doppelganger or even a fake version of me.”
“But I have a gadget that could verify the authenticity, and you should know how powerful my gadgets are.”
Qi Shan was stunned for a moment as she almost stumbled to the ground.
“H-How is that even possible? I never even made any video, and it was that stupid Immortal that imprisoned me.” She muttered in disbelief.
“Immortal?” Jiang Ming raised an eyebrow.
Now that he thought about it for a second, the Immortal appearance to capture Qi Shan was way too much of a coincidence.
Back then, they were about to go and explore the Skrap Swamp which was rumored to be an aftermath of a war. However, he didn’t get a chance to do so when Qi Shan, who held the method to venture inside vanished.
‘Could this be the Primordial Cultivator’s doing to prevent us from exploring the Skrap Swamp?’ Jiang Ming thought, feeling like there was more behind the disappearance of Qi Shan.
