158 Seven Night Star Flower
Huo Ning continued to bang her head on the ground to beg Yang Liqin to help her improve her skills.
Blood had already begun leaking out from her forehead as she didn’t hold back on the banging.
“Enough of it!” Yang Liqin shouted in fury.
“D-Does that mean Senior Yiqin is willing to teach me?” Huo Ning stopped for a moment and asked her.
To her dismay though, Yang Liqin shook her head in response.
“I merely came down from the mountainside to accompany my Senior Brother. I have no intention of teaching someone anything.” She said, making it clear to Huo Ning that no matter how much blood she loses, it doesn’t change anything.
Not only does taking in Huo Ning would complicate things, but her identity as Yiqin was falsified, to begin with.
How could she possibly teach her anything when the identity Yiqin would be gone the moment the ancient ruin closed?.
Unfortunately though, Huo Ning merely thought it was because she was untalented and unworthy for Yang Liqin to take notice of.
She got up with a depressed look as she nodded her head.
“I understand… Senior Yiqin.” She said in a dejected tone as she turned around and proceeded to walk away.
‘Come on… tell me to stop, Senior Yiqin. Just my dejected tone and depressing look should make your heart waver, right?’ Huo Ning prayed inwardly, hoping her pitiful acting skills were enough to make Yang Liqin change her mind.
However, a few minutes had passed by and she did not hear Yang Liqin shouting stop. Confused, Huo Ning halted her footstep and turned around.
“S-Seriously?! Senior Yiqin really left without saying anything?” She shouted in shock when Yang Liqin was nowhere in sight.
She scratched her head in disbelief, causing her hair to become messed up in the process as she could only reluctantly explore alone to find her other clan members.
Never once had she expected the pitiful acting that had helped her get away with numerous scoldings to fail miserably today.
While Huo Ning was busily sulking, Yang Liqin had already advanced forward, seemingly searching for some herbs.
‘Hmm, this medicine aroma should be the Seven Night Star Flower.’ Yang Liqin exclaimed inwardly, increasing her pace.
Sometime later, she arrived at a large lake with a small platform at the center of the lake to stand on. Though she was not the only one on the scene since she saw numerous groups gathered around as well.
They were all just standing by the shore, clearing pondering over their next moves.
Yang Liqin didn’t bother to stay in the back since there are no hiding spots available like in the rainforest environment. It was an open area with only the lake in front of them.
The moment Yang Liqin appeared in front of everyone, the others began gossiping and turned wary of her.
“Look, isn’t that Yiqin who was beside that Jing cultivator?”
“What is she doing over here instead of being with Jing?”
“Idiot, did you forget about the damn ancient ruin teleporting everyone to a random location. I bet they were separated by the laws of the ruin, so she appeared alone.”
‘Seriously, why are these people talking to each other like I’m not here?’ Yang Liqin truly wondered if these people have a screw loose on their brains. She was standing here and could easily hear their conversation.
“Ahem, enough chatting and focus. We’re all here trying to obtain the flower in the platform at the center, so who would want to make the first move?” A female voice announced loudly, prompting the side-conversation to stop immediately.
“Isn’t that Tang Wurong from the Tang Clan?” A person in the crowd recognized her attire and tone of speech.
Tang Wurong was clad in blue clothes with long sleeves and was wearing a short skirt. Her weapon was a long spear that was hanging on her back. She had short brown hair and a face that could be counted as a beauty. Added with her long legs that were practically sparkly had caused some men to drool over her.
“Hmph, glare again and watch how I’ll gouge out your eyeballs.” Tang Wurong snorted coldly as she grabbed her long spear from her back and slammed it on the ground.
Her cold demeanor and frightening tone had made the horny men scatter away from her.
Tang Wurong paid no respect to those spineless men as she turned around and focused on Yang Liqin.
‘This woman’s cultivation base is not simple…’ She thought. During the initial commotion at the entrance, she had already taken some notes regarding Yang Liqin and Jiang Ming.
Although she kept silent about it, she was still wary of Yang Liqin and the reason for her mask. As a soldier and someone who believed in valor and honor, she deemed those who hide behind the back cowardly and unworthy of respect.
Tang Wurong raised her long spear and pointed at Yang Liqin. “You, why don’t you take your mask off and compete fairly with me.”
“I’m pretty sure with your knowledge, you should know what kind of value that flower in the platform has.” She added.
The crowd took a step backward when they noticed Tang Wurong was challenging the mysterious cultivator, Yang Liqin.
“Damn it, with these two here, we can forget about reaping any rewards. Why am I so unlucky at every turn?”
“Aish, forget it, I’m leaving. That mysterious cultivator was able to run a marathon in that Golden Staircase with ease, and I’m not willing to risk my life for a petty flower.”
“Agreed, I’m outta here too. Tang Wurong from the Tang Clan was not an easy woman to defeat either. You guys can stay and court death if you want to.”
Within a few minutes, most of the people in the crowd dispersed as they sought for another lucky encounter elsewhere.
“Oi, seems like there are still some courageous people staying behind.” Tang Wurong smirked coldly, and her gaze remained fixated on Yang Liqin.
