152 Array Studying
“The second test huh…” Jiang Ming muttered.
“This ancient ruin is truly acting like it’s against us or something.” He added.
Yang Liqin nodded her head.
“This ancient ruin acknowledged our superior talent, so it must have prepared the test at the last minute.” She said, pointing at a corner.
“See that corner over there, Jing. The dust is piled on that single corner only, meaning this room had recently been cleaned in a hurry.”
“Ugh, then it means the ancient ruin structure had really just changed because of our appearance.” Jiang Ming scratched his head in annoyance.
Although he wasn’t 100 percent sure that it was related to him, he was sure that it must be related to the main storyline mission on his hand. The coincidence was just too much, added with the facts provided by Huo Minyong, the current ancient ruin was far different from what he had recalled.
‘Damn it, my GLCS seemed to have been disabled as well.’ Jiang Ming cursed silently. The map function that he had been relying on was disabled by the rules of the ancient ruin, causing the difficulty to rise higher..
“This is really back to basics 101 huh.” He exclaimed aloud.
“What basics 101?” Yang Liqin asked in confusion.
“We should study the arrays around here and not waste any more time.” She suggested.
Jiang Ming nodded his head.
“I’ll study the arrays on the right side, and you study the left side.” He said, walking toward the right side.
The room was simply way too spacious and numerous arrays were laid across the stone floor. It was impossible for them to memorize the whole thing in 48 hours because those aren’t some normal stone floors.
Each word engraved on the stone floor had a different insight and you’ll need to use your entire consciousness to comprehend it bit by bit. There are no shortcuts to the second test.
It was truly a test of your talent and ability.
‘I could only fear the other people who might reach here would be stuck.’ Jiang Ming sighed inwardly.
Unwilling to think about anything else, he walked toward the first stone floor and stared at the word.
The word had ‘righteousness’ engraved on the stone floor, prompting Jiang Ming to wonder what sort of righteousness it was indicating.
Righteousness, a word that is used by many people in the cultivation world to justify their actions. Depending on their perspective, their righteousness could be deemed as notorious or even grand among the public opinion.
Jiang Ming rubbed his chin as he needed to have a broad mindset to comprehend the ‘righteousness’ word.
Meanwhile, Yang Liqin was in a leisurely mood as she only took around a minute on each stone floor before moving to the next one.
‘What a disappointment. Isn’t this too simple and easy to take up to 48 hours?’ She wondered silently.
She was thoroughly disappointed at the test and even lamented herself for thinking it was some difficult one.
‘I’ll be finished in about 3 hours at this pace. Let’s see what Jiang Ming is at?’ She thought, turning around to glance at Jiang Ming.
To her dismay, she was dumbfounded to see Jiang Ming still mauling over the first stone floor at his side. She had to rub her eyes twice to make sure she wasn’t imagining things.
“Jing, how come you still haven’t comprehended the word?” Yang Liqin walked toward him and asked calmly. In her mind, she had expected him to be finished with at least 5 stone floors by now. Yet, he was still stuck on the first one with his brows wrinkled.
Jiang Ming snapped out of his thought process as he stared at Yang Liqin when he heard her voice.
“Oh, I’m just wondering how to implement this word in an array.” He said calmly.
“The word itself is nothing difficult to comprehend, but this is the ancient ruin we’re talking about. Not everything we see on the surface is true. I’m pretty sure the next test would ask us to implement different kinds of words to form an array to get rid of our obstacles.”
“I-Is that so? Does that mean the words I’ve previously comprehended are useless?”
“Not useless, Yiqin. But we’ll need to prepare three steps ahead in our plan no matter where we are. Otherwise, we would just be sitting ducks when the time becomes crucial.” Jiang Ming explained.
With that said, Yang Liqin didn’t dare to underestimate the array of studying tests as she returned to her side to follow his instruction.
Time slowly passed by, and soon, there were more people coming over after passing their first test.
Of course, the voices that Jiang Ming and Yang Liqin heard were no longer transmitted since it’s redundant. Instead, it revealed a large sign with the rules engraved on it, allowing the new participants to understand their task.
“Look, it’s those two experts. How long have they been here?”
“Their eyes are closed… it seems like they are comprehending the stone floor.”
The new participants exclaimed loudly when they noticed Jiang Ming and Yang Liqin sitting on a stone floor in a lotus position.
“Damn it, we can’t just let them steal all the spotlights. I’m going to comprehend the words now.”
As soon as one person said it aloud, the rest of the participants quickly followed and started to comprehend the wordings.
No one had dared to start a fight right here since it would only give others the advantage to comprehend more words than them.
However, never did the participants expect that the time limit was universal, meaning that there were only 48 hours in total for everyone.
“48 hours time is up, everyone shall now be transported to a random location within the ruin. Good luck to everyone since ancient and extinct magical beasts roamed around the ruin.” The same voice from the ancient ruin echoed for everyone to hear.
At the same time, the Golden Staircase where there are still people hoping to ascend vanished completely, causing the others to fall from the sky.
