141 Sword Intent
Jiang Ming’s straightforwardness in his intention surprised Huo Minyong and the other people in the scene.
“Ridiculous, is the Huo Clan really lacking so many talented people that they need to require an outsider for help?” Di Tianluo sneered coldly.
“If you are really lacking talented people in your clan, then we don’t mind accepting some of your people to our Di Clan. We will gladly train them into a peerless cultivator.” He added.
Huo Minyong gnashed his teeth at his taunting and jeering words. Yet, he couldn’t do anything else because he knew how vast their gaps are. Their clan resources and martial techniques were far inferior to those in the Di Clan.
While Huo Minyong was struggling to rebuke them, a youth from behind him could no longer stand it.
“Uncle Minyong, let Huo Ning fight them.” A woman in her teens shouted aloud.
“What nonsense are you talking about, Xiao Ning.” Huo Minyong panicked and hurriedly covered her with his back. “If your father knew that I allowed you to fight before entering the ancient ruin and you got injured, then I’ll be punished harshly.”
“Haha, Elder Huo Minyong, since your clan little princess wants to fight, then why are you blocking her?” Di Tianluo laughed heartily, provoking them even further..
Huo Ning was unable to withstand his provocation as she leaped forward and retrieved her sword. “Come, bring out your Di Clan members and watch how I’ll slash them down. Don’t think that you can bully our Huo Clan easily.”
“The little princess is indeed more courageous than their elder.” Di Tianluo praised.
He then waved his hand and shouted, “One of you, go and entertain the little princess. Remember, don’t injure her too much. Otherwise, it would make others think our Di Clan is bullying the weak.”
As soon as he finished his words, a man leaped and landed a few meters apart from Huo Ning.
“Di Qiaowei seek your advice.” Di Qiaowei said arrogantly. It was obvious that he didn’t put Huo Ning into his eyes.
Huo Ning held the hilt of her sword tightly as she shouted, “Pull out your sword. Don’t blame me if I accidentally chopped off your dog’s hands.”
“Heh, with just your cultivation base? Let alone your sword could slice me, I doubt you could even get close to me.” Di Qiaowei chuckled softly. His demeanor and attitude were clear that he had no regard for Huo Ning.
“Yiqin, wanna bet how hard this little lass would lose?” Jiang Ming whispered to Yang Liqin. Since she was so eager to take the show, then he would gladly enjoy and watch for her downfall.
Meanwhile, Yang Liqin was dumbfounded by his speech. “How are you so sure that Huo Ning would lose to Di Qiaowei? They haven’t even competed yet and their cultivation gaps aren’t really that wide.”
“That’s where you are wrong, Yiqin. Though their strength isn’t that far apart, Huo Ning is way too impulsive and easily provoked. The moment Di Qiaowei successfully angered her, victory has already been decided.”
“I see…”
“So how many minutes are you betting, Yiqin? I’ll bet 10 minutes max.”
“If you’re going for 10 minutes, and listening to your predictions previously, then I think I’ll go for 9 minutes.”
Jiang Ming nodded his head. He can’t wait to win the bet.
Sometime later, the fight between Huo Ning and Di Qiaowei had begun, causing a slight fluctuation in the atmosphere.
CLANK!
“Is that all you’re capable of, Di Qiaowei?” Huo Ning gritted her teeth in anger as she made another three slashes with her sword. “Only dodging and not fighting back? Are you a coward the moment you are born?”
Through her numerous slashes, Di Qiaowei remained calm as he continued to provoke Huo Ning.
“If I don’t dodge, then I feared that one move of mine would injure you. After all, our elder had specifically ordered me to not injure the Huo Clan’s little princess.” Di Qiaowei smirked.
“Curse you!” Huo Ning suddenly increased her speed, propelling herself forward to Di Qiaowei.
Swoosh!
Huo Ning instantly closed the gap between them and raised her sword up high, infusing it with her spiritual qi.
“Sigh, what a shame! If she had just waited a bit longer before going in like that, then I would have won the bet.” Jiang Ming sighed in an exhausted tone.
His tone was loud enough for Huo Minyong, Zhao Tong, and the others to hear. They were confused by his words, but it was soon clarified to them when they saw Di Qiaowei grinning wickedly as he finally made a move.
With his hand behind his back, Di Qiaowei sidestepped to the side for a bit before sending out an arc of light using his finger.
“What??!” Huo Ning was shocked by the powerful fluctuation in the arc as she hurriedly tried to use her sword to defend the strike. Alas, it was a futile effort and she was sent flying a few meters back, crashing down and coughing up a mouthful of blood.
Di Qiaowei didn’t chase after a dead dog as he stood still and cupped his fist. “Thank you for the advice, little princess.”
Huo Ning clenched her fist in anger as she glared at Di Qiaowei. Even though his words seemed respectful, it was obvious to everyone that he was jeering her for being weak.
Meanwhile, Huo Minyong stared at Jiang Ming with a dumbfounded expression.
‘He was able to predict Xiao Ning lost before it had even occurred. What kind of foresight does he have?’ Huo Minyong wondered silently.
“Looks like I won the bet, Jing.” Yang Liqin clasped her hand in joy. “What are you going to give up as punishment?”
Jiang Ming shrugged his shoulders.
Before he could speak, Huo Minyong stood in front of Jiang Ming and asked, “How did you know my Xiao Ning would lose?”
“It’s simple really… Di Qiaowei had comprehended a sword intent whereas Huo Ning had not and still decided to use a sword as a weapon. Isn’t that equivalent to asking for a defeat before the match had even begun?”
