“Listen, Hong Ling, I’m a man with zero socializing skills. Thus, people may find me arrogant or even somehow hard to interact with me but I wish that you will stop acting like a stranger to me.” Jiang Ming said softly and continued.
“Whenever it’s just us, you can be at ease and stop being so nervous. I don’t want you to be afraid of me if you’re going to be my maid.”
Hong Ling was surprised that Jiang Ming was showing a different side of him, a polar opposite from the display he did in the alchemist guild.
“I understand Maste-.. Jiang Ming,” Hong Ling wanted to say master aloud but Jiang Ming held a fierce glare at her and she hurriedly changed her wording.
“I know that it’ll take time for you to learn to change your tone of speech but hopefully, it won’t take long since that will mean you are not smart in changing your ways.” Jiang Ming said and walked away..
Hong Ling was dazed before snapping out of it when she saw Jiang Ming was about to vanish from the crowd. She ran forward to catch up with him before she started asking him questions.
“Why are we rushing to your house?” Hong Ling followed behind diligently as she wondered why Jiang Ming was hurrying back home.
‘C-Could it be that the master is really eager to check on my physique?’ Hong Ling’s heart started beating rapidly when she thought that Jiang Ming was rushing home to let her become a cultivator.
However, her expectations were shattered when Jiang Ming replied swiftly without thinking.
“Why are we rushing? It’s because I have sneaked out of my house without informing my mother and given the scene I created, she is definitely worried sick now.” Jiang Ming heaved a helpless sigh when he could predict the drama she would make.
“Haha… I see J-Jiang Ming,” Hong Ling smiled bitterly.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ming noticed some change in her emotion but decided to keep to himself as he wanted to hurry up.
Sometime later, Jiang Ming arrived at the front door of his house where two guards were standing still. Although they didn’t speak anything, Jiang Ming could feel contempt in their expression and it wasn’t surprising.
After all, the original Jiang Ming was trash and no one in the family respected him except for his mother. Not even his father was an exception to this since it was obvious that he was ashamed and disappointed to have the original Jiang Ming as his son.
“Welcome home, young master,” The guards said respectfully when Jiang Ming walked past them.
They may show contempt but it was their duty to talk respectfully to him since Jiang Ming’s mother would thrash them into a pulp if news of their dissing at Jiang Ming got out.
Hong Ling wanted to follow behind but the guards halted her action.
“Stop, this is the Jiang Family house and not someplace where nobody, especially a mortal is able to enter as they pleased.” The guards knew Hong Ling was with Jiang Ming but since they couldn’t do anything to him, they decided to mess with Hong Ling.
After all, Hong Ling may be a mortal but her beauty was enough to arouse their lust and since she was with the trash, they got jealous.
“I am with master Jiang Ming,” Hong Ling replied but inwardly she wanted to kick their ball sack since she knew they were doing this purposely.
However, she was a newcomer so she didn’t want to cause a scene as soon as she became a maid for Jiang Ming.
“I’m sorry but without the patriarch’s order, no one is allowed to enter the house without a token of identification.” The guards said as they continued to block her path.
Hong Ling clenched her fist in anger as she wanted to just barge through but the guards were cultivators as well so she could only grit her teeth.
Mneahilwe, Jiang Ming chuckled softly as he patted the guard’s shoulder and whispered softly, “She is my maid and if you continue to block her then I don’t mind informing my mother on why I was late at home.”
And he continued, “I’m sure my mother would love to have a punching bag to vent her anger and frustration.”
The guard became nervous and swallowed some of his saliva but he decided to mess with him further since he was ordered by someone.
“You can inform the Madam but we are just doing our duty to maintain safety in the Jiang family. We cannot authorize entry to someone who has not received any permission.”
Jiang Ming’s face darkened when he heard the guard’s reply. ‘Heh, it seems like Shaoxing Ming has ordered the guards to make things difficult for me.’
“Sigh, I have tried the ‘nice’ way but people always want to do things the hard way.” Jiang Ming said as he punched the guard in the face, causing the guard to drop on the ground with a bruise on his face.
Never did he expect Jiang Ming to start a fight against him so he wasn’t prepared to receive a strike.
Anger filled his eyes as the guard got up and tried to retaliate against Jiang Ming.
“Stop, how dare you try to hit my son in my house no less!”
An angry voice echoed in the area and the guard shivered in fear when he realized who the voice belonged to.
It was Madam Yang and she was releasing an intense amount of killing intent.
“M-Madam Yang,” The guard stood up and stuttered with sweat trickling down his forehead. He knew he messed up this time when Madam Yang witnessed his act of trying to harm the young master of the Jiang Family.
“Hmph,” Madam Yang didn’t even care about his respect as she slapped him across the cheek, causing some of his teeth to drop on the ground.
The slap was impactful and the guard’s mouth started bleeding but not even a word came out from him. Not only that, his head continued to lower without any intention to retaliate.
If he even dared to raise his hand against Madam Yang, then not only would he lose his life but his family would not be spared either.
” Who the hell do you think you are to raise your hand against my son? Get out of my sight before you can meet your entire family in the underworld.” Madam Yang snorted as she went up to Jiang Ming, making sure he was not injured in the slightest.
Jiang Ming smiled briefly before showing his mother some dirt in his face that he secretly smeared on.
The guard turned pale when he saw what Jiang Ming did.
‘Taking the side of my enemy and still expect to live well? You can dream about it when you die.’
Jiang Ming sneered inwardly and made a frightful expression to Madam Yang about the treatment he received from their own guard.
