Chapter 822 Time to Hunt
The army marched. Due to the size of the tunnel, only twenty people could go in at the same time, forcing the group to create a seven hundred line long.
Alex, in the front, halted his steps and waited for the people inside to open this place.
"Do you think they will open it, Alex?" Anya furrowed her eyebrows, looking at the array that seemed to have nothing behind it.
"They will." Alex seemed to be confident about this even though they didn't have any contact with them for the past few years.
"If you are that confident, then treat it as I never asked." Anya still had another doubt, so she asked. "What do you think will happen when the barrier is opened?"
"I believe Elder Shakdi will only open the barrier in one area. This will limit the rate of monsters coming in and direct them to a place where there won't be any lives. I believe it's the reason why they choose this place to build the underground tunnel." Alex nodded.
"But they are still at a disadvantage because the beast might encircle them the moment they arrive."
"It's the reason there is a fortress. Besides, even if some intelligent beasts order the monsters around, I doubt they can make too many movements due to the number of monsters." Alex shook his head.
Anya thought for a moment and agreed with his words.
Alex and the group waited patiently for a few hours before he sensed a fluctuation of Spiritual Energy coming from the barrier. He glanced over the barrier with his Spirit Eyes and muttered. "It's coming."
"!!!" The group's expression turned serious as they kept their eyes peeled.
Not long after, the barrier suddenly pushed away from the Space Element before it gradually opened slightly.
Due to their position, Alex immediately opened their Spatial Gate with the same size as the tunnel itself and shouted out loud. "It's open now. Move out!"
Alex's voice echoed across the tunnel, sending his message to the entire force before he and his group went inside.
The Freedom Sect followed them almost immediately.
Alex searched for Aileen on the other side and asked. "Please open another Spatial Gate."
"Sure. Leave it to me. Oh right. My Maya and Ryuu are participating in this war, you know. They are with the group right now, so you can't meet him." Aileen smiled.
Alex thought for a moment. These two guys made a huge impression in his life, but they had something more important to do, so he only walked toward the gate while saying, "Give them my regards."
Aileen couldn't stop smiling as she kept maintaining the portal, asking the disciples that just came here to pass the gate.
However, that peace didn't last long. The sky that had ten percent of it opened suddenly had two spots around it cracked. The magical beasts began to fall down from that place one by one while loud footsteps resounded in everyone's ears.
"Don't panic. We have discussed this. As long as we can do our task well, we will win." Licht assured them with a shout. The disciples had been entering the portal as quickly as possible, and almost all their disciples had gone across the second portal.
The other influences also started rushing, knowing if they didn't cross the gate as soon as possible, they would be attacked by the monsters before arriving in their position.
Meanwhile, Alex was accompanied by four old men while watching the pillar.
"Sir Alexander, may I know how many monsters are coming?"
"There are three million right now, in which thirty of them are 10-Star Saints. Don't worry. It's only going to be a week long, and the enemies might probably go in with only half of their force unless they want our force on the surface to obliterate them from behind."
"I see. In that case, I think we are capable of doing that. Just make sure we watch out for their 10-Star, we should be safe, right?"
"Yes."
"I understand."
"In that case, I will leave this place to you all." Alex smiled.
"Yes. Please leave it to us. This will be the last fight from us in this place, so we shall protect this place to death." One of the kings pumped his fist in his chest.
Alex nodded with a serious expression before glancing over the other Spatial Gate that was transferring the Divine Kingdom's people. Noticing this, he opened the Spatial Gate on his side, so the spirits and the others could enter because he would come inside later.
It was peaceful during this time, and he liked it.
However, a giant gate suddenly appeared on the battlefield when he was about to enter. He halted his step and turned around.
The gate was double the size of the one he made, and it seemed to bring a huge amount of energy in this situation. And the monsters began to emerge from within the gate before howling to the sky.
"Enemies spotted! Everyone! Raise your weapon!" One of the kings shouted as loud as possible using his Spiritual Energy.
Words then appeared right before Alex's eyes as the pillar suddenly shone.
'Please come in. We have activated the tower to create a Space Disturbance.'
Alex read the words and nodded as he entered the pillar. The pillar then shone, creating a few holes on its surface. The Spiritual Energy that was used to trap monsters was released outside. And this energy, of course, contained massive Space Elements.
The Spatial Gate from the monsters suddenly cracked, baffling everyone and even the monsters. The few monsters that seemed to be responsible for creating the gate decided to roar before closing the gate.
At the same time, they retreated a few hundred meters back before giving another signal for the monsters to come.
The battlefield soon got filled with monsters, roaming around while staring at them like a predator.
"This is the moment of truth. Soldiers! As long as we can hold on for seven days, we shall become the world's savior. That's why… We are protecting the tower to death!" The king roared from the sky.
"Ooh!" The soldiers had their morale raised. It looked majestic and loud, but Alex couldn't see this for future references.
Instead, he and the others had arrived at the bottom of the tower and opened the gate to the inside. Shakdi had been waiting for them in the middle of the hall as he said, "Follow me."
"We have returned with all of the people," said Alex while walking with Shakdi and all the representatives. As expected, all influences brought all their younger generations, such as Song Jiaoren, Astennu, and so on, as their leaders inside this tower.
Evelyn met him earlier, but she only nodded at him as if she had something in mind. Song Yu also participated in this because her hearing would be useful in this situation, ensuring there wouldn't be any enemies that would ambush them.
Song Jiaoren also gave his greeting to Alex together with his little sister, Song Ling'er. It seemed these two had grown tremendously.
"I understand. Still, I want to warn you one last thing before giving you an item." Shakdi's expression turned serious. "The monsters inside don't know anything about the outside world. However, the moment we open the gate, they will receive a signal and go to the door.
"They, who know nothing about the door this whole time, will surely charge at you and breakthrough. On one hand, you don't need to search for the monsters anymore. On the other hand, you need to look out for their ferocity.
"The monsters will surely do anything to break out. Well, if they break out, we can somehow handle it, but more than fifty monsters out, it means they succeed. We are only souls that have no fighting power after all."
They listened to Shakdi's words attentively, swearing they wouldn't let the monsters break out no matter the cost.
After that, Shakdi took out seven tokens. These were unique tokens. Each of them had a rectangular shape, but with a crystal in the middle. Seven circles were circling around that big crystal with one of them shining.
"At first, we are wondering if we should wait for seven days to do it, but I believe your strength is enough to eradicate the monsters. Hence, we built these tokens. The shining circle means your token, while the dim ones are the others.
"If you have succeeded in subduing the parent monsters, you can channel your energy to the shining one, so the other knows you have succeeded. The other tokens will have one of their circles shine as the symbol.
"Do it until all of you finish your own job, and all circles lit up. After that, pour all your Spiritual Energy into the big crystal. If all of you pour it together within five minutes, the crystal will make a countdown from five minutes. The moment it reaches zero, you kill the parent monsters. Are we clear?"
Alex thought for a moment and nodded. "It's a good device. And I believe if we can finish this ordeal as quickly as possible, our help will be tremendous for those people outside."
"Yeah. That's why… May fortune be with you." Shakdi smiled and clasped his hands.
All of them clasped with respect before Shakdi signaled his friends to open up the gate. "Open it from the Elementless Gate!"
It seems Shakdi wants Alex to be the last one to enter. Whether he has another concern or because he believes Alex can solve the problem faster than anyone else, Alex didn't care at all.
Those people began coming inside the gate. After all of them entered, the next gate was opened. The process repeated until everyone came inside.
He found himself surrounded by a hot floor. Fire gushed out of the crack on the ground. He immediately asked his group whether they would be alright in this type of environment, and they said yes. So, Alex kept his focus on the surrounding with his eyes, checking whether there were monsters around.
It took them a full five minutes before a loud roar echoed in their ears.
"There are monsters in our north… Around one hundred monsters." Anna reported.
"There are two hundred coming from our right." Nelson also spotted the enemies.
"And there are another two hundred from our left. In any case, I, Rose, and Anna will handle the one-hundred one. Sherry, Stina, Kyle, and Nelson will take care of those on our left. Firia, Nelson, Fabio, and Greg will handle the right one."
"Understood!" The group acknowledged the order in unison, shifting their position to receive the incoming monsters.
Alex watched how those many monsters approached them. The group looked at his back, waiting for his order to attack.
Suddenly, he turned around and grinned. "Ladies and gentlemen… It's time to hunt."
