Chapter 1014 Dark Territory
"So, this is the dark side." Alex looked at this darkness. Normal people would only have sight for one or two meters in front of them. "I wonder how people actually see in this dark place."
With his curiosity, he began exploring the forest.
The darkness itself made everything look eerie and the chilly wind turned this dark forest into a creepy one.
Alex began venturing the forest from the sky while using his Spirit Eyes to check if he could find a monster or someone here.
After going for a while, he couldn't find any single living creature other than the trees.
In fact, the trees themselves looked ominous. It had evolved to suit their environment, so it could grow even without sunlight. But their leaves were purple while the log was black, as if the trees were those in the horror animation.
Alex kept going straight to check the first kingdom in the Dark Territory. It was a bit far from where he came from, but he arrived one hour later. Unlike those on the other side, this kingdom seemed to be more marvelous.
The darkness made the lamps all over the towns look even more glamorous, illuminating the dark building that had been decorated in a way that it would stand out even with limited light.
Alex checked the kingdom with his Spirit Eyes and noticed that their average power level was a bit higher than those in the light side, but considering there were only three influences managed to stay alive in this place, the power from both sides was equal.
When he was about to sneak inside the kingdom, he found someone running away. He took another look at that person and saw a boy.
His appearance looked the same as humans, but his eyes glowed in the dark like that of animals, such as cats, dogs, and others.
Due to this harsh environment, humans must have evolved to adjust themselves. That was why they seemed to have eyes that could see in the dark.
At the same time, the boy looked weak and exhausted, but his chest was broad and his muscles bulked every now and then. It wasn't supposed to be visible from a boy that looked like he never trained in his life, but he guessed it must be one of the ways to get used to it.
He didn't know the power behind their eyes, so he thought the boy must have fallen so many times until his body got trained that way.
Behind him were three wolves that he never saw once on this planet. At the same time, he noticed a movement a bit further away, specifically in the opposite direction of the castle.
"Is there a portal here? I have never found a single monster in this place, so I think these wolves come from that." Alex thought for a moment and put on a mask along with a long robe.
He descended to the ground and stomped the first wolf before kicking the other two wolves. They died almost immediately.
The boy obviously couldn't control his emotion when he found Alex just killed the wolves. However, he tried hard to remain calm while looking at Alex, knowing that he must be a reinforcement or something.
"Who are you?" The boy asked.
Alex glanced at him. "My name, you don't need to know. I just want to understand the current situation. It seems there is a big movement there."
The boy saw Alex pointing his finger at the castle, but for him who understood the situation, he knew that Alex must be talking about the big battle on the other side of the castle.
He thought for a moment and decided to answer. "Thank you for saving me, but you won't be able to help much."
"Why?"
"Why, you said?! My relatives have died right in front of my eyes one by one because of this emerging monster. If I am not ordered to save my life, do you think I can hold myself back to have my own revenge?" He looked at Alex while gritting his teeth.
Before he could say anything, a few more presences came into his range. Alex turned back and narrowed his eyes, finding two more people along with seven wolves.
When the two arrived and saw the boy, they were surprised and shouted. "Your highness!"
The first one to come was a middle-aged man. He held a big sword with that injured body. On the other hand, the other one was a delicate young woman. She appeared to be injured as well, but she still maintained her ferocity.
The two didn't notice Alex at the moment as they immediately turned around to face the wolves. "Your highness. Please get away from here according to the plan. We will stall them."
The young man turned out to be a prince. This must be his guard or something.
"Your highness. As long as you are alive, we can still rebuild the kingdom. There are already evacuations everywhere, so the citizens will escape to anywhere they can just to make sure they don't die." The middle-aged man informed him as he faced the front wolf.
Swinging that big sword, he blew away the wolf that managed to block his sword with its fangs.
At the same time, the female raised her wooden staff to the air as a pattern appeared behind her. It was a few times her size. The pattern itself had a crow in the middle with some additional patterns on its surrounding.
However, Alex frowned because he could find something more amazing than the pattern.
'Array?' Alex never thought he would find an Array Master in this place. And not only that but this Array Master had this weird pattern that shouldn't be an array on itself.
When he took a closer look at the pattern, he noticed the arrays that created the pattern itself. In other words, she managed to make symbols that were so small and made it look like a pattern like this.
The woman released the power of its pattern when she swung her staff down. Surprisingly, the pattern let out a burst of wind, creating some small wounds on the wolf and blowing them away.
The middle-aged man saw this and activated a similar pattern to that of the female. However, this time, he noticed another pattern. It was a sword.
He then remembered there was a small symbol that looked like a gust of wind in the entire pattern, so he thought this must be their way of fighting.
The middle-aged man slammed the wolf with that huge sword.
Not wanting to die, the wolf tried to stop his sword by stopping it with its fang, but the middle-aged man was better than that.
His strength managed to push the wolf back. And because it was still stuck on his sword, he slammed the wolf into the ground.
The pain made the wolf wail, but the sword had yet to complete its swing, so it immediately cut the wolf's head.
The other six became angry when they saw one of them was killed by the swordsman, so they moved together to bring him down, forgetting there was another person behind him.
The female raised its staff again, recalling the same pattern. But to his surprise, there was something different in this pattern. Unlike the previous gust of wind pattern, he noticed a different one that looked like a tornado and was located on the opposite of the giant symbol.
"This…" Alex narrowed his eyes as this was the first time he saw someone using an array like this. Although he couldn't confirm it, there was a catch in that giant pattern which made Alex believe it contained the secret he wanted.
Either way, he wanted to see how it got unfolded, so he observed the female.
The latter finally finished channeling her power into that symbol, and a hurricane gradually formed and grew bigger.
"Wind Tornado."
It tried to distract the wolf by its sucking force but only got two of them. The remaining four kept charging at the middle-aged man.
The same happened to this guy. He summoned the same pattern but with another symbol. Instead of a sword, he found a shape that looked like a rock.
"Grand Slam." He hit the ground to lift it up with his power, creating a tall wall that launched a wolf to the sky while scaring the others.
The young man seemed to have gathered his resolve. He didn't wish to lose, so he summoned a similar pattern but with a fire symbol instead.
"Fireball!" He released a fireball and directly hit the tornado. As one would expect, the fire got absorbed into it and turned the normal fire into a fire tornado, burning the two wolves that got sucked into it alive.
The two that managed to escape from this series of attacks decided to change their target by moving around the middle-aged man and the female and headed straight to the young man.
"Your highness!" The middle-aged man was the first to react while the female tried to use her power again, but one of the wolves suddenly changed its direction again and struck his hand, resulting in him releasing his sword.
The giant sword flew right at the female.
'Ugh!' She gritted her teeth and avoided it. However, the pattern she built earlier crumbled. Even if she cast another one, she wouldn't be fast enough to help the prince.
It was at this time that the female found Alex. She saw him simply because of the giant sword that was flying in his way.
"Oh no! Dodge it!" She shouted, not knowing what to do anymore.
The middle-aged man couldn't help them either because he was still occupied with the wolf. Without his sword, it was hard for him to fight this wolf.
The young man gritted his teeth and activated his pattern, preparing himself to summon his power to stop this wolf. Although he would regret it, he needed to abandon Alex in this situation and focused on the wolf instead.
On the other hand, Alex saw the giant sword flying to him without a change of expression. He took a glance at the wolf that almost passed him and hit the boy. Deciding to help, Alex grabbed the handle of the giant sword without trouble.
When the female saw it, she couldn't believe someone could catch that big sword with that kind of speed. And Alex didn't even flinch, meaning that his strength was more than enough to catch it.
But before she could say anything, Alex already swung the sword to the side, severing the wolf's head.
Since there was only one wolf remaining, he threw the big sword to the last wolf, piercing it until it created a hole in its body. The sword hit the tree, and the wolf fell down to the ground at the same time.
The group was shocked. The man they thought weak was someone amazing that could defeat two wolves without a problem.
Meanwhile, Alex's eyes kept staring at the darkness to check if they were safe or not.
