Faye was lying on her bed, having a video call with Princess. After everything that had happened throughout the day, the Omega was exhausted, and all she wanted was to spend some time with her girlfriend before going to sleep. It had been a long day, and she still had plenty of things on her mind, but talking to Princess always made her feel a little better.

Getting Bambi settled had not been easy either. Faye had spent quite some time begging and pleading with Eriko to allow the girl to stay, and he had finally agreed, although he had increased the rent in the process. Bambi had promised to work hard and pay him, leaving Faye with one less thing to worry about for the night. At least the girl now had somewhere to stay, even if the whole arrangement had cost them more than they had expected.

With her phone held in front of her, Faye turned her attention to the strand of white hair she had discovered. She gently pulled it away from the rest of her brown hair, making sure Princess could see the difference through the screen. It still felt strange knowing that her appearance was about to change so drastically, especially when she had no idea what it would mean for her.

She explained what PP had told her, watching Princess’s face as her girlfriend listened.

"So you are going to have completely white hair by the next full moon..." Princess said, studying the strand through the screen.

"Yes, baby. All white. And will you still love me if I have white hair?" Faye asked, dangling her legs over the edge of the bed as she waited patiently for her girlfriend’s answer.

Princess’s response came without hesitation.

"Of course I will still love you. I don’t care about the colour of your hair, but I am a little worried about you. Are you feeling okay?" she asked, her expression becoming more serious.

Faye lowered the strand of hair and looked at her girlfriend properly. She knew Princess would worry about her, especially after everything that had happened recently. Still, she did not want her girlfriend spending the entire night stressing over something she could not explain herself.

"Yes, I’m fine. Just a little dizzy and nauseous... I don’t know why, though..."

"You still remember that you are pregnant, right?" Princess had to remind her girlfriend.

"Obviously I do..." Faye laughed softly, her voice low as she settled more comfortably against the pillows.

Princess did not look entirely convinced, but Faye was not going to argue with her about it. She was aware of her pregnancy, even if the dizziness and nausea had caught her off guard. There was already enough happening around her without adding unnecessary worry to the list.

"Just be safe, okay? And remember that you have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow. I wish I could be there with you, but I’m stuck here until Saturday..."

"Yeah, I miss you a lot. Last night was really hard for me to sleep. I can’t even sleep in our own house..." Faye admitted, her smile fading slightly as she thought about how much she missed being with her girlfriend and pups.

Being away from them was harder than she had expected. She could handle plenty of things on her own, and she certainly was not someone who liked admitting that she needed help, but that did not mean she enjoyed being separated from the people she loved. Even something as simple as going to bed felt different when Princess was not beside her.

"I miss you too. Don’t worry, just blink and I will be there..." Princess said, trying to cheer her up.

"I have blinked, and you are not here..." Faye complained, looking at the screen as though her girlfriend had personally disappointed her.

Princess was trying to make her feel better, but Faye could not help pointing out the obvious. If blinking could bring her girlfriend back, she would have done it a hundred times already. Unfortunately, she was still alone on the bed, talking to Princess through her phone instead of having her in her arms.

"Come on, I will be there before you know it. Just do things to keep your mind occupied, safe things, and not dangerous ones like you did yesterday..."

"I know... You better hurry before I kill your best friend..." Faye warned.

"Which one?"

"The hoe one... She had the audacity to break my Beta’s heart. I will never forgive her for that, and ripping my neck open and almost ripping my heart... I will never..."

"Ripping your neck, heart... When did that happen?" Princess asked, immediately looking concerned.

Faye froze for a moment.

She had completely forgotten herself and had not even realized when she let those words slip out. The moment Princess started asking questions, Faye knew she had said too much. She had no intention of telling her girlfriend about everything that had happened inside Kiara’s inner domain, not when Princess was already worried about her condition.

"It’s wasn’t really real. It happened inside that mind of hers... Don’t worry about that, my big brother taught her a lesson..."

"That is one of the reasons I told you to be careful when dealing with someone like Kiara. She is unpredictable and insane..."

"Yeah, that still makes me wonder why you are friends with that kind of a bitch..." Faye said, shaking her head. "Do you know, when I was inside that girl’s inner domain, I caught a glimpse of her heart? And I really understand why she’s so difficult and annoying. Someone who was told that she was going to be killed once she turns eighteen, and she had no say in it. Then there was this person she really did care about... and I think you already know that."

"Beam," Princess said quietly.

"Yeah, Beam happens to be her safe place, like an anchor that holds her sanity down. But she doesn’t want her around because she is scared that she will lose that one safe place..."

Faye fell quiet for a moment, thinking about everything she had witnessed inside Kiara’s mind. She still hated the girl, and nothing that had happened was going to change that. Understanding where someone’s pain came from did not mean she had to forgive them for what they had done. However, after seeing a glimpse of Kiara’s past, Faye could no longer pretend that she understood nothing about the reasons behind her behaviour.

"Do you now feel bad for her?" Princess asked.

"Kinda, and no. I still hate her..." Faye answered honestly before shifting her position on the bed. "Now we are done with phase one. It’s time for phase two."

"Killing the council...?"

"Something like that... When you return, I will let you know..." Faye said.

The two continued talking throughout the night, with Princess keeping her girlfriend company through the phone. They talked until Faye’s tired eyes finally closed and her breathing settled into the steady rhythm of sleep.

Even after Faye had fallen asleep, Princess did not hang up.

She stayed on the call, keeping the connection open as she slowly drifted off herself.

By the time the night grew quiet, both girls were asleep, separated by distance but still connected through their phones.
