Fuck!!!! I'm Having The Alpha Princess's Baby.
Chapter 376: The Alpha King’s Birthday Party
There was nothing they could do. Faye had to work, and Princess was going to meet her at the party after dropping off the kids..
"So there is nothing we can do? You don’t want our money?" Faye said.
She was in the lobby with Malo and some other people who were assigned to work in the hall for the celebration.
She stood with her arms folded across her chest, her eyes fixed on the two officers while her lungs pulled in a fast, frustrated draft of air.
The officers in charge were the same as yesterday... Dan and Jacob.
"I mean, we can pay you double... just mark our attendance and it’ll be like we were here," Malo said to them. He stepped up beside Faye, his hands outstretched in a pleading motion while his heart beat a rapid, hopeful rhythm against his ribs.
"I’m sorry, lads... we are short of staff, and the Chief will be attending the party. We don’t want to do something that’ll cost us our jobs," Dan said, tapping Malo on the shoulder while Jacob handed them the party aprons.
Everyone had their posts and duties. Malo and Faye were assigned to serve drinks.
"This is insane... I can’t believe I hang out with someone like you. For some reason, I am always in trouble, and it’s always because of you," Faye said, putting on her black apron. She snapped the thin fabric straps behind her waist, her jaw locked tight as her lungs heaved out a sharp, annoyed huff of air.
"How is it my fault...? You were the one who started swiping cards and spraying," Malo said. He shoved his arms through his own apron loops, his breath hitching slightly through his teeth while his pulse thumped a quick, defensive cadence.
"That was because Bambi started the nonsense... and speaking of the devil, where is she?" Faye said, looking around.
The person who had gotten them into trouble wasn’t among them.
"Officer Dan, where is Bambi Butcher...? She is supposed to be here," Malo asked. He turned his head toward the officer, taking a step forward while his lungs drew in a short draft of cool indoor air.
"She hasn’t shown up. If she doesn’t come today, we’ll be extending her community service." Dan replied plain and simple, adjusting his belt while his own breathing remained steady and low.
"I’m sure her sugar mommy wants to show her off at the party. That’s why she isn’t here," Faye said. A sarcastic smirk touched her lips, her shoulders relaxing just a bit while a dry puff of air escaped her nose.
"You should’ve done the same... make Princess use her privilege to set us free for today and let us enjoy the party." Malo muttered, giving Faye a fast nudge with his elbow while his heart beat an eager rhythm.
"No... that would’ve been great, but I don’t want to be at the party." Faye answered flatly, shifting her weight onto her left foot while her breathing smoothed out into a quiet, controlled wave.
"What do you mean by that...? We are at the party, just as commoners though."
"This is better than being a guest. Princess plans on showing me to everyone as her girlfriend and the mother of her pups." Faye explained softly, her hand smoothing down the front of her black apron while her pulse thuttered with a sudden, anxious jump.
"Wouldn’t that be great...?"
"Yes and no... no one sees me as Princess’s girlfriend, just a breeder. ’You’re just an Alpha’s breeder.’ That’s what I’ve been hearing everywhere." Faye said. Her voice dropped low, her chest tightening as a heavy, bitter breath left her lips, her jaw clenching hard against the memory of those sharp rumors.
"That is people for you... accepting and believing whatever they want. But maybe next time someone says you’re just a breeder, instead of punching them, shove it in their face. Say, ’You don’t have an Alpha, but I do, and she loves me.’ Or simply say, ’I’m not just a breeder. I’m her girlfriend.’" Malo offered kindly, his face brightening while his breathing stayed light and steady.
"Aww... that is cute, but I’d rather punch them in the face so they’ll stop putting their mouths where they don’t belong." Faye replied, a small smirk returning to her lips as her heart beat a strong, fierce cadence, her lungs expanding with a sharp draft of determination.
"Whatever you do, do whatever you want, Punchy Girl... Okay, let’s set our timer and go do some free work," Malo said.
Normally, he worked at the party every year. No one ever invited him, but at least he got free food and money after the party. Tonight, he was working for free. He swallowed down his disappointment, his pulse settling into a firm beat as he prepared himself for the long night ahead.
So the party began in the Grand Hall. Many wealthy and influential people filled the hall. Their loud chatter and glass clinking echoed off the ceiling while dozens of pairs of boots and heels shuffled across the polished floor, the crowded room buzzing with heat.
Faye moved around with her tray of drinks, getting bossed around.
She bumped into Kiara.
The tray wobbled slightly, Faye’s breath catching sharp in her throat as she caught her balance, her boots gripping the floor to keep the glasses from spilling over.
"Hey, you nitwit... watch where you’re going," Kiara said. Then, when she saw it was Faye, she smiled and her expression changed. Her posture relaxed instantly, her eyes flashing with sudden warmth while her chest rose in a smooth, cheerful wave.
"Hey, dear friend of mine... how are you doing?" Kiara added sweetly, tilting her head while her heart rate hummed a light, friendly tune.
"Again, I am not your friend, and I am not happy with you," Faye said. She stood her ground firmly, her eyes narrowing as her chest heaved with a sharp, protective breath.
"You already agreed that I am your friend." Kiara pointed out, crossing her arms lightly while letting out a quiet, amused huff through her nose.
"No. I said when you bring the books, we’ll talk."
"I’m working on that... but why are you not happy with me? I’ve been nice to you," Kiara said. She blinked, her shoulders shifting in a small shrug while her lungs took in a fresh, puzzled breath
Faye gave her a deadpan look, as if this girl hadn’t been about to insult her a moment ago.
"I am angry at you... you cheated on my girlfriend during your relationship with her, and then you went around saying she is boring and clingy." Faye spat out plainly, taking a quick step forward while her chest swelled with hot, fiery energy.
"Oh, I see... she is reporting to the current girlfriend." Kiara sneered softly, her eyes rolling upward as a mocking puff of air left her lips.
"Yes... this current girlfriend appreciates and loves her, and will never cheat on her. You are unfaithful and unworthy of my amazing, energetic girlfriend. And if you know what I mean by energetic... I mean in bed."
"You know you’re talking about my trash that you picked."
"As the saying goes, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. And by the way, she was the one who threw you out... trash bitch." Faye shot right back, her voice ringing clear and harsh while her heart hammered a solid, winning beat against her chest.
"Okay... but this shouldn’t affect our relationship as friends." Kiara grumbled, shaking her head as she let out a forced exhale through her mouth, trying to brush the sting off her cheeks.
"You are weird." Faye said flatly, looking her up and down while her posture stayed cold and immovable.
"Whatever... have you seen my current girlfriend? I heard she is also doing the community service thing. I need her right now. She isn’t even picking up my calls..."
"If she isn’t with you, I don’t know where she is because she didn’t show up for her service." Faye answered casually, shifting the weight of her tray as her lungs pulled in a simple, easy draft of air.
