Chapter 352: Chapter 48: Stunning Performance, Requesting an Additional Award for Mo Ning

The remaining black mist let out an enraged roar. It gave up the fight and, brimming with venomous hatred, shot toward the tentacle monster outside the water wall.

BOOM—!

A tentacle smashed heavily against the water wall.

The entire water wall, already covered in spiderweb-like cracks, now looked like a broken sieve about to fall apart. Countless streams of water gushed madly from the fissures.

Anyone could see that it would only take one more hit for the struggling water wall to collapse completely.

In that suffocating pause, another Leopard Shadow silently materialized in front of the black mist and snapped at it.

From the moment he activated the Thunder Crystal Stone, Mo Ning had already secretly transformed the entire underwater cafeteria into a Thunder Force Field.

With a mere thought, he could project the Leopard Shadow to any corner.

This prize from the former headmaster had played an incalculably important role in the battle, becoming the deciding factor for victory.

The black mist was startled, its form faltering for a moment.

The Leopard Shadow appeared too suddenly, like a thunderbolt striking from the void. It was unavoidable, and the mist could only watch as the shadow slammed into it.

ZZZT—!

A blinding electric light exploded in mid-air.

Without hesitation, Mo Ning swung his arm down in a swift, sharp slash.

The Thunder Blade moved in response to his thoughts. It vanished from its spot and reappeared the next instant in front of the black mist, its edge cutting with absolute precision into the darkness.

CRACK-BOOM—!

A dazzling white light erupted at that moment.

"AHH—"

At the heart of the brilliant light, an utterly wretched scream was drowned out by the roar of thunder.

A moment later, the white light subsided, and the black mist was gone.

From the appearance of the Leopard Shadow to the fall of the Thunder Blade, the entire process, though complex to describe, took less than two seconds.

Mo Ning immediately sensed an indescribable change within the cafeteria.

It was as if an invisible shroud had been completely torn away, and the entire space once again became real and vibrant.

Finch blurted out, "The barrier the Evil God set up in the cafeteria has been broken!"

The Arbiter had been holding those words in the whole time.

The Will of the Evil God had been lurking in this cafeteria for months, secretly and silently constructing the barrier.

When "You are all guilty!" rang out moments ago, the Will of the Evil God had immediately activated the barrier, completely severing all of their connections with the Witch Spirit.

Every second in battle could be fatal, so Finch hadn’t dared to risk the distraction of speaking.

Immediately after, a will so stern it was suffocating descended upon the cafeteria like a mountain.

It was—the Witch Spirit.

Outside the water wall, the massive black shadow was swinging its tentacles, its final blow about to completely destroy the teetering last line of defense.

In that instant, it seemed to sense a terrifying danger. It unhesitatingly retracted its tentacles, its massive body twisting violently in the water. With a speed completely disproportionate to its size, it frantically fled into the distance.

But it was too late.

A flash of white light flickered.

It was just a soft gleam, so fast that no one could follow its trajectory.

The massive black shadow’s body suddenly froze. A perfectly straight fissure ran through its center.

The next second, it was sliced cleanly in two. Before its thick bodily fluids could even spread into the water, the two halves of its remains vanished into thin air.

Finch gasped. "The Witch Spirit is too powerful. Its strength probably surpasses that of a Second Level Wizard."

Once the barrier broke, the Witch Spirit had immediately detected the anomaly here and obliterated the terrifying monster with a single strike.

Bet withdrew his gaze, a lingering fear in his voice. "The thing the Evil God summoned... that was a First Level Magical Beast, a Ghost Eye Octopus, right?"

Finch nodded, his face full of relief at having survived the ordeal. "It must have been."

Mo Ning’s mental retrieval system automatically activated, instantly extracting all information on the Ghost Eye Octopus.

Just as Bet had said, it was an extremely powerful First Level Magical Beast.

A large, bizarre pattern grew naturally across its back, forming the shape of a giant pupil.

The surface of each thick tentacle was also covered with countless eye-shaped patterns. From a distance, it looked as if its entire body were covered in half-closed eyes.

But these patterns were far from just intimidating decorations; they contained an extremely potent Spiritual Power.

These "eyes" were normally closed. Once opened, they would unleash a First Level Witchcraft called Ghost Eye Gaze, which directly attacked the target’s soul.

Any creature below the level of a First Level Wizard, if they lacked sufficiently powerful protective gear, would have their soul utterly destroyed.

Their body would still be alive, their heart still beating, but they would be little more than the living dead.

That explained the depths of Finch and Bet’s terror.

Had even one tentacle broken into the cafeteria, the area-of-effect of Ghost Eye Gaze would have been enough to cover the entire underwater cafeteria. They would have all died, without a doubt.

Mo Ning’s mind rapidly worked out an escape route for a worst-case scenario:

’If a tentacle breaks into the cafeteria, I can activate the Level Zero Witchcraft, Space Fold Jump, that comes with my Space Bracelet. Jumping directly to the lake’s surface should give me a very high chance of escape.’

’But that is undoubtedly the worst-case scenario.’

’Afterward, I’d most likely be targeted by a Dark Wizard lurking in the shadows. That would be the start of another hunt, and I’d become the prey.’

And then, the shocking cracks on the water wall vanished in the blink of an eye, as if smoothed over by an invisible hand.

The lake water that had flooded the cafeteria, along with the droplets spattered into every corner, began to evaporate at a rate visible to the naked eye.
