Chapter 344: Chapter 46: Epoch-making Weapon (Part 3)
The first Rotor Puppet entered the Poison Fang Kobolds’ camp.
It swept past a Kobold sentry, whose ears perked up and twitched. It seemed to have faintly heard something.
But the chilly morning wind of autumn rustled through the forest, drawing the sentry’s attention away.
The so-called "camp" was nothing more than a haphazard wall of stone and wood, enclosing rows of small, pitifully crude wooden huts.
Though it was said that when it poured outside, it drizzled inside, these huts were the only shelter the Kobolds had.
The Rotor Puppet then landed in a corner of the camp. Its Vibrating Ball began to emit a low frequency, probing the network of tunnels beneath the settlement.
At the same time, the Poison Fang Kobolds’ superior hearing picked up the unusual vibrations within the camp.
They demonstrated a high level of alertness, immediately letting out a series of yelps to warn their kin of an invasion.
The Kobolds, clad in Hardwood Armor and brandishing Poisoned Hardwood Weapons, prepared for battle within the camp.
Although their weapons and armor were wooden, they were crafted from a high-density wood of extreme hardness, making them nearly as durable as steel and just as lethal.
「One second later.」
Two blurry shadows flashed past, darting through an entrance and deep into the tunnels.
THUMP—THUMP—
Muffled thuds echoed from below, followed by great plumes of a highly irritating, pale-yellow smoke that spewed from every tunnel entrance.
It was a disaster for the Kobolds.
"COUGH, COUGH—AWOO—COUGH, COUGH—WHIMPER—"
Painful whimpers echoed from every corner of the camp.
The Poison Fang Kobolds choked, tears and snot streaming down their faces. Their eyes became red and swollen, and their combat effectiveness plummeted in an instant.
Normally, if an enemy were to release such an irritant outside the camp, the Kobolds could have quickly retreated into their tunnels, sealed the entrances, and used fans to prevent the smoke from pouring in.
But now that the thick smoke was gushing out from the tunnels, this countermeasure was useless. They could only whimper as they fled the camp.
And then, the brutal slaughter began.
Two exceptionally sharp, palm-length blades silently extended from the wings of the three Rotor Puppets. They zipped through the air, moving even faster than before.
Time and again, the Rotor Puppets’ blades sliced across the panicked Kobolds’ necks. Relying on the kinetic energy of their immense speed, they easily cut through their throats, even severing their vertebrae.
"Aaargh—"
"Ugh—"
Amid the Kobolds’ agonized howls, they fell one after another, blood gushing from their necks.
More than twenty Kobolds had their throats slit nearly every second.
The scene within the camp was an absolute bloodbath.
Anya’s and Reina’s eyes widened slightly as they watched.
’The efficiency of this slaughter is astounding!’
’Even three Second Level Apprentices working together might not be this efficient, yet these three Rotor Puppets were pulling it off with ease.’
Of course, some Kobolds did try to fight back.
A Kobold Warrior that had manifested Qi and Blood Power swung its hardwood and stone War Axe toward one of the Rotor Puppets.
The strike was sudden and perfectly timed, leaving the Rotor Puppet seemingly no room to evade. But its four rotors instantly altered their airflow, sending the machine into an emergency bank as the War Axe grazed past it.
The flat of the axe merely grazed the Rotor Puppet, causing it to dip a dozen centimeters, but it stabilized almost instantly.
The Kobold Warrior’s eyes filled with utter disbelief.
Another Rotor Puppet zipped past, taking advantage of the Kobold’s momentary loss of balance to slice open its neck with a sharp blade.
"Awooo—"
A Kobold Caster, hiding in a concealed spot, suddenly howled and unleashed its Talent Witchcraft on a Rotor Puppet.
It was common knowledge that any Monster Tribe capable of establishing a foothold in the wild would have one or two Casters.
Dozens of green vines materialized from thin air, wrapping tightly around the Rotor Puppet.
An ordinary Flying Puppet would have lost its ability to fly when faced with such a spell, or at the very least, its speed would have been drastically reduced.
But the Rotor Puppet was completely unaffected. It flew straight at the Caster and, taking advantage of the moment its opponent was locked in its casting animation, mercilessly sliced open the Caster’s neck.
Even as it died, the Caster’s eyes were filled with profound shock.
It died without understanding. The Witchcraft had clearly hit its target, so why hadn’t the Rotor Puppet fallen?
「Before the Tracking Mirror.」
The two girls were watching in utter amazement.
Flower thoughtfully provided an explanation. "The Rotor Puppet generates lift from the rotation of its rotors. The vines didn’t damage the rotor structure; they just added a bit of weight. Of course it wouldn’t affect its flight."
She paused for a moment before concluding, "This proves that the rotor design has an overwhelming advantage over traditional winged structures. It is a major innovation in the field of Flying Puppets."
The girls nodded in unison.
No matter how impressive the data looked on paper, it still lacked persuasive power.
But after being validated by live combat, the conclusion was irrefutable.
As the battle continued, shrill wails constantly rang out, and the Kobolds’ morale utterly collapsed.
In the eyes of these monsters, the Rotor Puppets had become more terrifying than Demons.
Whenever they saw a Rotor Puppet flying toward them, they would drop their weapons and scramble away on all fours, but this could not save them from having their necks sliced open.
