Chapter 289: Chapter 30: Nice Loot, an Opportunity to Create a Mo Ning Formula
Flower’s pleasant voice rang out on the battlefield for the first time. "Of course, Mr. Mo Ning."
Getting the two cooks to help was the most time-efficient method.
The Witch Spirit’s power had descended upon the Cabin in the Woods many times before, so the academy couldn’t possibly be unaware. There was no need to hide it from his two teammates.
He would pay them accordingly, and he believed they would be more than happy to take on this rather bloody job.
On the other hand, Mo Ning also harbored a small, ulterior motive.
’Showing off is indeed a low-brow pleasure, but it’s undeniable that it also brings a certain satisfaction. It’s an instinct etched deep into one’s genes.’
’In order to digest as much Spiritual Power as possible, I’ll resort to any means necessary. A low-brow pleasure is certainly worth a try.’
Mo Ning smiled and issued another command. "Flower, I think there’s a Metal Token next to the Evil God Altar beneath the lair. Can you retrieve it for me?"
"No problem!" the Artificial Soul responded immediately.
Just now, when the Leopard Shadow had charged into the underground tunnel to attack the Priest, Mo Ning had caught a fleeting glimpse of a palm-sized, silver metal token amidst a pile of junk at the Priest’s feet. It was carved with many Divination symbols.
’The Goblin Priest was "illiterate"; he couldn’t possibly understand the meaning of the Divination symbols.’
’The Evil God might understand a little about Secret Divination, but it would never respond to a follower over such a trivial matter.’
’After all, the Evil God was the great master and the Priest a lowly servant. Why would a master run errands for a servant?’
’The Priest must have instinctively realized this metal token was extraordinary, but unable to decipher its Mysteries, he could only keep it as a collector’s item, hoping to one day unlock its secrets.’
’The Great White Birch Forest is far from any human settlements. For this metal token to appear inexplicably in the lair... it’s suspicious no matter how you look at it.’
Mo Ning highly suspected that this was something left behind by Lord Martin.
Given Lord Martin’s style, this metal token was most likely a puzzle with a hidden reward.
The underground tunnel was less than a meter high; even goblins had to stoop to walk through it. Mo Ning certainly couldn’t enter, so he had no choice but to ask Flower for help.
「Soon.」
The metal dragonfly flashed and disappeared into the nearest tunnel entrance. Half a second later, it flashed back before its master.
In the dragonfly’s claws, it clutched a metal token.
Mo Ning reached out and took it, examining it for a few moments before a slight curve appeared at the corner of his mouth.
From the hundreds of Divination symbols, he had already identified a formula that one would only encounter as a Third Level Apprentice—the Secret Chamber formula.
But most Third Level Apprentices, unless absolutely necessary, would never want to touch it.
The reason was simple: the formula was named "Secret Chamber," and its difficulty was easy to imagine.
The so-called "Secret Chamber formula" could be simply understood as a Wizard’s version of an encryption algorithm.
Its primary applications were for the various Secret Chambers and Secret Gates within a Wizard Tower, using Witchcraft to establish tiered levels of secrecy. Only those with sufficient clearance could obtain the corresponding Divination key.
In addition, the Secret Chamber formula was also used in large-scale Witchcraft of the "Maze Lock" category.
However, this was the domain of Official Wizards. Most Maze Lock Magic was Second Level or higher; First Level Maze Lock Magic was pitifully rare.
The appearance of the Secret Chamber formula on this metal token had a self-evident implication: ’If I can just decipher the formula and open the "Secret Chamber," I’ll receive the final reward for taking down the Evil God Priest.’
’This kind of game fits Lord Martin’s style perfectly.’
Because the formula was quite complex, even with his current abilities, it would likely take Mo Ning several days to solve it.
But this wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. ’The greater the difficulty, the greater the reward.’
"Mr. Mo Ning, I also discovered a high-quality Mind Crystal in the lair. It was one of the Evil God Priest’s prized possessions."
Flower’s voice was a soft touch against her master’s eardrums.
Mo Ning froze for a moment, a look of surprise on his face.
A Mind Crystal was a type of Spiritual Material capable of amplifying Mind Power.
It was an indispensable core material for any Wizard crafting Witchcraft Items imbued with Spiritual Magic.
The most well-known Level Zero Spiritual Witchcraft was undoubtedly Mind Burst.
This Witchcraft could directly attack the Spiritual World, instantly robbing a target of their ability to cast, and was thus widely regarded as one of the most powerful examples of Level Zero Witchcraft.
Because these crystals were rare—and scarcity drives value—and because Spiritual Witchcraft itself was extraordinarily powerful, the price of related materials was always driven very high, making them quite valuable.
Flower’s next words made Mo Ning’s heart skip a beat.
"This Mind Crystal is quite large. I estimate it’s worth no less than 2,500 Black Tower Points."
Mo Ning was taken aback.
He truly hadn’t expected that a Goblin Tribe hidden deep in the old mountain forests could have found such a precious material.
「Half a second later.」
The metal dragonfly flashed before its master at near-teleportation speed and gently set down an oval-shaped crystal.
Crystal-type Spiritual Materials naturally formed into fixed shapes—a rule bestowed by Magic Power.
This Mind Crystal was about the size of an adult’s fist; among crystals of its kind, it certainly qualified as a "heavyweight."
Mo Ning stared at the crystal’s smooth surface, where the Birch Forest and his own reflection were clearly visible.
He stared for a second, and then a strange phenomenon occurred.
The reflection slowly sank into the crystal’s interior, and the figure began to walk back and forth within the reflected image of the Birch Forest.
This strange sight was exactly as described in books; Wizards called this phenomenon Mind Mapping.
Mo Ning suddenly recalled the book he had frantically studied yesterday, the *Art of Complex Divination Pattern Group*, and a bright Spiritual Light flashed in his mind.
