Chapter 244: Chapter 16: Overnight Riches, Miracle Maker (Part 2)
What was even more astonishing was that it could permanently increase his Magic Pool’s capacity.
For any Wizard, there was never enough Magic Power, so the higher the Magic Pool’s capacity, the better.
[Reward Three: You have obtained the Magic Wand "Mine Ruler" (Excellent Quality). This Magic Wand can reduce Casting Time by 5.5% to 6.8% and increase Witchcraft power by 4.2% to 5.4% (excluding special Witchcraft).]
[This Magic Wand can store 12 points of Magic Power, which can be held for up to one month. Its Magic Circuits contain three temporary Spell Slots, and Witchcraft stored in them can be held for up to 120 hours.]
[Requirements: 1.5 Spiritual Strength, 30 Magic Pool.]
Mo Ning struggled to suppress a smile.
After all, it wouldn’t do to damage the Legion Commander’s glorious image in front of so many people.
The sheer number of functions on this Magic Wand was a delightful surprise.
From what he knew, even among wands of Excellent Quality, this one was a masterpiece.
More importantly, its Spiritual Strength requirement was only 1.5. This indicated that the craftsmanship behind the "Mine Ruler" was exceptionally high.
Many ordinary-quality wands required 3 or 4 points of Spiritual Strength, and it wasn’t uncommon to see some requiring 5 or more.
The only drawback was its strange name. It was a bit ridiculous.
Mo Ning estimated in his head that this Magic Wand had to be worth at least 2,000 Black Tower Points.
[Reward Four: You have obtained the Casting Gloves "Mine Slaughterer" (Excellent Quality). These gloves increase Witchcraft power by 3.4% to 4.6% (excluding special Witchcraft).]
[These gloves can store 8 points of Magic Power, which can be held for up to one month. Their Magic Circuits contain three temporary Spell Slots, and Witchcraft stored in them can be held for up to 100 hours.]
[Requirements: 1.2 Spiritual Strength, 25 Magic Pool.]
This time, Mo Ning couldn’t hold back. The corners of his mouth curved into a faint smile.
Since the Magic Circuits of Casting Gloves were extensions of a Magic Wand’s circuits, their Magic Power transmission efficiency was limited. As a result, gloves weren’t usually designed with temporary Magic Pools.
Yet the "Mine Slaughterer" could store 8 points of Magic Power. This meant it was made with Spiritual Materials that boosted transmission efficiency—materials that were typically quite expensive.
With the Magic Wand and Casting Gloves each providing three temporary Spell Slots, he could unleash a "machine gun" level of firepower in battle.
All in all, opening this hidden Treasure Chest was enough to be called "striking it rich overnight."
Mo Ning waved his hand lightly inside the Treasure Chest, and the four items vanished, transferred to an inner pocket of his blue robe.
The Treasure Chest then turned from solid to ethereal before scattering into motes of light and disappearing completely.
He put away the five Leader’s Fangs, but he had already made a decision: he would give up a portion of his gains.
The haul this time was far greater than he had ever imagined.
The four items from the Treasure Chest alone were worth no less than 6,000 Black Tower Points.
Without the united, desperate struggle of the entire legion, he never would have achieved such a brilliant result as "Third in History."
He knew better than anyone that those who always tried to keep everything for themselves would never get far.
Mo Ning looked around and made an announcement. "After this assessment is over, I will take half of my personal forty-percent share of the spoils. After it’s sold, the Black Tower Points will be distributed evenly among everyone."
According to established custom, a team leader could usually take thirty to forty percent of the spoils after a mission.
An average performance would earn thirty percent. For an excellent performance leading the team to victory, taking forty percent would draw no criticism whatsoever.
With Mo Ning’s utterly dominant performance on the battlefield, repeatedly crushing Monster Tribes head-on, no one would have objected if he took fifty percent, let alone forty.
Yet not only did he take just forty percent, he was willing to give up half of that. This, naturally, drew a wave of enthusiastic cheers.
"Praise the Legion Commander!"
"Legion Commander Mo Ning is so generous!"
"The Legion Commander’s generosity lights up the entire underground mine!"
Princess Phoebe stood quietly at the edge of the crowd, her eyes fixed on the young man surrounded by his people. She was suddenly struck by a powerful feeling.
’The difference between people is just too vast.’
’If this were Sitt, he’d only be afraid of not taking enough. He’d haggle over every last Black Tower Point.’
’Back when the Top Ten Squads formed a Battle Group, they argued internally over the distribution of spoils for a full day. Despite everyone’s opposition, Sitt insisted he had to take forty percent.’
’It was only when the other nine squads threatened to quit together that Sitt unwillingly took a step back and settled for thirty percent.’
’But this young man, faced with such an astonishing amount of loot—where even forty percent was a heart-pounding sum—had given up half of it without a second thought.’
’Now *that* was true character!’
’A leader like that was worthy of anyone’s loyalty.’
*****
There was only one hour left until the end of the assessment.
Mo Ning issued an order: "Everyone, fall back to the entrance of cave 43 and regroup."
The entrance to cave 43 was the former gathering place of a Monster Tribe that the Battle Banner Legion had cleared out. The terrain was easy to defend and difficult to assault, as it sloped upward the deeper one went into the cavern.
After eleven hours of high-intensity combat, most of the legion members were mentally exhausted. Even though he had generously provided Physical Water to replenish their energy, their Spiritual Power was nearing the danger zone.
Furthermore, many members were running low on supplies like Crossbow Arrows. Continuing to fight under these conditions would be tantamount to putting the entire legion in jeopardy.
Meanwhile, as the assessment had gone on for so long, the monsters within the maze were becoming increasingly active, constantly emerging from the various cave entrances.
