Chapter 421: Chapter 220: Want a Wife?

This time, Su Chen didn’t have Chen Fei stay in the car. Instead, he brought him along as they walked toward Elder Xiao’s residence.

"Mr. Su~"

It was the same old story. Just as they reached the courtyard gate, it swung open.

Seeing the two familiar guards standing behind the gate, Su Chen smiled and nodded in response.

"Is it you two again? Don’t you rotate shifts?"

"We do rotate. We just swapped with the other team yesterday!" the guard captain said with a smile.

Hearing this, Su Chen strode into the courtyard. As he neared the Hanging Flower Gate, he stopped and shot a look at Chen Fei, signaling for him to stay outside and chat with the two guards.

Arriving in the central courtyard, Su Chen didn’t see Elder Xiao’s familiar figure. By now, the elder should have been in the courtyard listening to music and drinking tea while waiting for him, just like usual.

’Why isn’t he here today?’

He glanced around, but Elder Xiao wasn’t in the rooms along the side corridors either. His gaze then shifted toward the third courtyard, and after a brief pause, he began walking toward the back.

Just as he reached the connecting hall, he heard Elder Xiao’s familiar voice. Listening closely, it sounded like he was chatting with someone. The other person’s voice felt vaguely familiar to Su Chen.

AHEM. Su Chen coughed lightly, as if to announce his presence to the two people talking, and walked in the direction of the voices.

When Su Chen passed through the side room and entered the third courtyard, he saw two figures sitting at a tea table, their profound gazes fixed on him.

"Huh?" A flash of astonishment crossed Su Chen’s eyes when he saw who the two figures were. He never would have imagined that besides Elder Xiao, Elder Jiang was also here.

Snapping back to his senses, Su Chen quickly walked up and greeted them. "Elder Xiao, Elder Jiang, sorry to keep you both waiting."

As he spoke, Su Chen casually pulled over a nearby stool and sat down. He even remembered to pick up the teapot, pour himself a cup, and take a sip.

"This tea of yours is something else, Elder!"

Seeing Su Chen’s practiced ease, a hint of surprise flashed across Elder Jiang’s face. But when he saw his old friend’s accustomed expression, he finally understood why Elder Xiao had been so protective of Su Chen before.

’It seems Su Chen’s relationship with the Xiao family is unusually close!’ Elder Jiang marveled to himself.

He had previously thought that old Xiao was so good to Su Chen because of the controllable nuclear fusion technology. But now, it seemed there were deeper reasons.

Instantly, his curiosity about Su Chen intensified.

"Brat, why so reserved today? You only took one sip. That’s not like you!" Elder Xiao’s lips curled into a smirk as he gave Su Chen a meaningful look.

How could Su Chen not understand Elder Xiao’s underlying meaning? He was just teasing him for acting so polite.

With a mischievous twinkle in his eye, Su Chen laughed and replied, "Well, I’m planning on mooching dinner off you. If I fill up on tea, how am I supposed to eat later? I can’t pass up such a great opportunity to get a free meal."

Hearing this, the smile on Elder Xiao’s face froze. He turned to Elder Jiang with a wry smile and said, "See? This kid is a complete rascal. I haven’t even invited him to stay for dinner, and he’s already made plans for himself."

Before Elder Jiang could even speak, Su Chen cut in.

"Elder, how can you blame me? It’s almost dinnertime. You called me over to talk, so you must have been planning to treat me to dinner. You weren’t going to send me home hungry, were you?" Su Chen immediately turned to Elder Jiang and said, "Elder Jiang, you agree with me, right?"

Elder Jiang, who had been enjoying the show, was suddenly put on the spot. His mind blanked for a second, and he nodded instinctively.

"See? Even Elder Jiang agrees. Elder, you have to arrange a good meal for tonight. It’d be unreasonable not to!"

Both Elder Jiang and Elder Xiao were momentarily speechless at Su Chen’s words. They exchanged a look, and both saw the amusement in the other’s eyes.

"You little..." Elder Xiao laughed and pointed a finger at Su Chen, then called out softly, "Huang Feng!"

Su Chen paused for a moment. In the next second, a lean man about five-foot-nine appeared from out of nowhere. He wore a black suit with a white shirt, his face resolute and expressionless.

"Go to the kitchen and make arrangements. Tell the chef to prepare something lavish," Elder Xiao said in a level voice.

"Yes, sir!" Wasp nodded and walked briskly away.

After the man had disappeared from sight, Su Chen asked curiously, "Who was that? I’ve never seen him before."

Elder Xiao took a sip of tea before uttering a few words. "He’s from the VIP Protection Unit."

"Oh," Su Chen knew what the VIP Protection Unit represented—the legendary "Imperial Bodyguards." But he wasn’t too surprised; in fact, he found it perfectly normal.

After all, with Elder Xiao’s status, it would have been more surprising if he *didn’t* have protection from the unit.

"It’s getting late. We should get down to business."

Hearing this, Su Chen’s expression turned serious. He even corrected his somewhat lazy posture, sitting up straight.

"You mentioned on the phone that you had some ideas. What exactly did you have in mind...?"
