Chapter 362: Chapter 200: Made a Profit
........
Young Master Huang!
It was the same familiar private kitchen restaurant.
Just as Su Chen reached the turn in the staircase leading to the second floor, he heard Sicong and the others chatting. Their joyous laughter sounded incredibly happy.
"Hey, what’s all the chatter? You guys sound like you’re having fun!" Su Chen said with a smile as he walked into the private room. He was surprised to see it was quite crowded.
Besides Sicong and Qin Fen, Chen He and Hou Ting were also there.
Seeing Su Chen arrive, everyone stood up to greet him.
"I thought it would just be Sicong and Qin Fen. I didn’t expect you guys to be here too. Haven’t been busy lately?" Su Chen waved his hand, signaling for everyone not to be so formal, and sat down next to Hou Ting to ask.
"We just finished the Spring Split. The club secured a spot, so we’re staying in Shanghai for a few days to celebrate!" Hou Ting explained with a smile.
Su Chen didn’t know much about this, but since he seemed to be one of the shareholders in Sicong’s club, he glanced over at him, asking how the club was doing.
Sicong instantly understood what Su Chen was asking. "We got a spot in the finals, too," he said, his face flushed with excitement. "We can make a run for the world championship this year!"
Sicong had told him before that the domestic e-sports market was booming. Winning the League of Legends World Championship would be incredibly important for the club, more than multiplying its value several times over.
"If you win the championship this year, I’ll give them a bonus!" Su Chen wasn’t focused on how much money the victory would make, but on the significance of the title itself.
Hearing this, the smile on Sicong’s face grew even wider. "With your promise, Old Su, I’m sure those little brats will work even harder."
He knew Su Chen wasn’t short on cash and was extremely generous. A bonus promised by him personally wouldn’t be a paltry sum of tens or hundreds of thousands. It would have to start in the millions to match his status.
’When I go back and tell them,’ he thought, ’they’re all going to go wild.’
The conversation quickly shifted from the League tournament to the giant grouper Su Chen had caught, with everyone boasting that they could definitely catch an even bigger one.
Qin Fen, in particular, immediately arranged a flight to the San Francisco Bay Area for the next day, just for the chance to catch a giant grouper.
Su Chen wasn’t the least bit surprised by this behavior. It was as if this was just how things were supposed to be.
For lunch, Sicong had specially arranged an all-beef feast, claiming he had an entire top-grade Wagyu cow air-freighted from Australia. The ingredients were incredibly fresh.
"By the way, didn’t you guys say the beef from the Northeast was pretty good too? How’s that coming along?" Su Chen asked after swallowing a piece of A5 steak.
"It’s been integrated into the Yang Village restaurant system. We also set up a few ranches in the Northeast to raise local Angus cattle, ensuring a steady supply for Yang Village."
Speaking of ranches, Su Chen was reminded of the 30,000-mu farm and ranch near Lake Baikal in Siberia, Bear Country, that he had acquired. He had no idea what its current status was.
After the meal, Sicong and the others suggested heading to the Bund for some afternoon tea and a chat. Su Chen had nothing else planned, so he nodded in agreement.
Just as they were leaving Young Master Huang, Chen He called out to Su Chen.
"He? What’s up?" Su Chen asked, looking at the secretive-looking Chen He.
Chen He glanced at Sicong and the others, who were leaning against a car watching them, and whispered to Su Chen, "Mr. Su, after that incident on Zheng Island, she’s been asking me every few days when you’ll be free. She wants to treat you to a meal to express her gratitude."
As he spoke, Chen He pulled a rather elegant-looking card from his pocket and handed it to Su Chen with both hands.
"She?" Su Chen paused for a moment. He took the card and saw the name and phone number on it, immediately realizing that the "she" Chen He was talking about was Reba, whom he had met once before.
"We can talk about dinner or whatever some other time when I’m free!" After saying that, Su Chen thought for a moment before stuffing the card into his pocket and striding quickly toward his car.
This left Chen He completely confused. The words seemed like a rejection, but Su Chen had also pocketed the card with Reba’s number, leaving him unable to figure out what was going on.
Unable to figure it out, Chen He shrugged. He had passed on Reba’s message, and whether Su Chen accepted the invitation or not was none of his business.
The Bund wasn’t very crowded during the day in April. Su Chen and his friends chose a quiet rooftop cafe with a good view, overlooking the entire Bund and the banks of the Huangpu River.
Sicong took a sip of his coffee, his eyes flickering slightly as he asked nonchalantly, "Old Su, what were you doing in the Bay Area? You’re not the type to just run around aimlessly with nothing to do, like Qin Fen."
As soon as he said this, Qin Fen and the other two, who had been admiring the view of the Bund, subtly shifted their gazes toward Su Chen.
Su Chen noticed all their little movements and said with a smile, "With your ears pricked up so high and your eyes askew like that, aren’t you afraid of going cross-eyed?"
"If you want to know, just turn around. Stop pretending."
The three of them, having been called out, didn’t show the slightest bit of embarrassment. They all turned to look at Su Chen curiously, wanting to know what he had really been doing in the Bay Area.
"It was nothing major. I just invested in a company that developed some new technology. A couple of consortiums happened to take an interest, so I went to the Bay Area to discuss it," Su Chen said in a flat tone, as if talking about something trivial.
