Chapter 292: Chapter 175: Unparalleled Luck

Chen Shufen beamed at his words. She tilted her head slightly, her gaze landing on Du Furong as if to say, ’See how devoted my son is?’

Du Furong felt a pang of jealousy at the sight. The thought of her own spendthrift son, who did nothing but waste money, made a flicker of irritation ignite within her. ’I need to find some time to go home,’ she thought to herself. ’I have to teach him a good lesson.’

"You should keep this yourself. If I had it, I’d be too worried to even sleep!" Su Zhuyun had absolutely no intention of taking the Melo pearl Su Chen was offering.

For one, the pearl was worth over a million; he’d be heartbroken if he lost it.

And second, just looking at it made him feel tight-chested. His mind was flooded with the image of himself smugly opening champagne at halftime—a real slap in the face.

"Er..." Seeing his dad refuse, Su Chen could only look to his mom, Chen Shufen, but she just shook her head in response.

It was as if the thing were a hot potato.

"Fine, I’ll hold onto it for now. Once I have the necklace made, I’ll bring it back for you, Mom!" Su Chen said, casually slipping it into his pocket.

Du Furong watched this, her eyes wide. But then she remembered Su Chen’s current financial status and understood why he wasn’t overly concerned about the Melo pearl.

Su Chen really wasn’t that concerned about the pearl itself. The only thing that thrilled him was that it had come from a coconut snail he had found himself. That alone proved his luck was still pretty amazing.

At this thought, a flash of inspiration struck him. He called out a farewell to Su Zhuyun and the others and left the kitchen, making sure to grab the coconut snail’s shell on his way out.

The scene left Su Zhuyun and the two women a bit baffled, but they didn’t give it much thought.

After leaving the kitchen, Su Chen didn’t go to his room. Instead, he went straight to a stool in the yard and sat down. He carefully arranged the coconut snail shell, then took the Melo pearl from his pocket and placed it beside the shell.

After trying several angles, he finally snapped a great picture.

He expertly opened WeChat, went to his Moments, and posted the picture, adding a caption...

"Heh, my luck’s not too bad. Went beachcombing for the first time last night, found a coconut snail, and cracked open a top-tier Melo pearl. I hear they’re worth at least a million. Wonder if that’s true!"

Su Chen gave it a once-over, and seeing nothing that needed changing, he posted it to his Moments.

In just a few moments, Su Chen’s post racked up over fifty likes and more than a dozen comments, mostly from friends he’d made back when he was a food delivery driver.

"HOLY SHIT~ HOLY SHIT, is that Melo pearl real or fake? Looks like it’s two centimeters wide. How much would that even sell for?!"

"Su Chen~ Seriously? If that’s real, then dude, you’ve hit the jackpot, haven’t you?"

"A coconut snail? Right, right, right, I’m heading to the seafood market to buy one now. If I can find a Melo pearl, who’d want to keep delivering food!"

Su Chen chuckled as he read the comments. He was starting to understand why that famous, rich second-generation kid was always so active online, posting photos from his daily life.

’So it’s not about sharing your life, it’s about making everyone else jealous!’

In the time it took Su Chen to read the comments, another dozen or so had already popped up. A quick glance showed that most people were asking if it was real. It was, after all, too incredible to believe—what was the difference between this and winning the grand prize on a whim with a two-dollar lottery ticket?

If this were real, who wouldn’t be envious?

After basking in the smug satisfaction for a moment, Su Chen was about to put everything away when the phone he’d just set down started ringing.

A look of surprise flashed across Su Chen’s face when he saw the caller ID.

’Why is he calling me? Don’t tell me he’s also calling about the Melo pearl?’

Picking up his phone, Su Chen answered the call.
