Chapter 277: Chapter 170: Once Aboard, Forget the People Ashore
Phoenix Airport!
Arrivals Hall, Exit A!
"Sicong, why is Old Su coming out from here? Isn’t this the exit for commercial flights?" Qin Fen asked, leaning on the railing and staring toward the exit.
Sicong was also leaning on the railing, but he had on a white baseball cap and a black face mask, keeping himself completely covered up.
"How should I know? That’s what he said in his message. Maybe he didn’t take his private jet!"
Just as he finished speaking, the two of them saw people coming out of Exit A. A closer look revealed it was indeed Su Chen, along with his butler Jiang Hui, who was carrying the luggage.
"Old Su! Over here!" Sicong shouted, waving his hand.
Seeing this, Qin Fen, who was standing to the side, wanted to dig a hole and bury himself. It was just too mortifying. He’d never acted like this in such a public place before.
He silently shuffled a couple of steps to the side, as if to say he didn’t know the guy.
"Sorry to keep you waiting!" Su Chen replied with a smile.
"Old Su, how come you took a commercial flight? Where’s your private jet?" Qin Fen asked curiously, sidling up to Su Chen.
Su Chen shrugged helplessly. "Well, you guys said you were arriving in Hainan today. The private jet couldn’t be dispatched on such short notice, so I just flew over directly from Zheng Island."
Hearing this, Qin Fen nodded. He also knew that scheduling a flight path required contacting the airport in advance; it wasn’t like a car that you could just call up and go.
Sicong, however, picked up on something different. He asked with a hint of confusion, "Flew from Zheng Island? Old Su, what were you doing on Zheng Island? There doesn’t seem to be anything fun to do there."
Su Chen replied with a faint smile, "Nothing much. Just looking around."
Hearing this, Sicong didn’t press the matter. He had a hunch that Su Chen’s trip to Zheng Island wasn’t just for ’looking around.’ He’d known Su Chen for a long time and knew he was a homebody.
’Why would he suddenly decide to go to a place like Zheng Island, which has nothing to offer?’
"It must have been a few hours’ flight for Old Su from Zheng Island. Let’s head back to the hotel so he can rest. We’ll go out on the water this afternoon!" Qin Fen’s voice was tinged with excitement when he mentioned going out to sea.
This snapped the pensive Sicong out of his thoughts. He quickly ushered Su Chen toward the airport exit.
This time, Sicong and Qin Fen hadn’t driven a flashy luxury car or a supercar to the airport. Instead, they had come in a Toyota Elfa.
"Hey, the seats in this car are pretty nice. They feel almost the same as the first-class seats on the plane I took," Su Chen commented after settling into the captain’s chair.
Sicong, sitting next to Su Chen, explained, "The Elfa’s seats are the same as first-class airline seats. After all, MPVs are all about comfort. Who would buy one if it wasn’t comfortable to sit in?"
Qin Fen nodded in agreement.
The villa where Sicong and the others were staying wasn’t far from the airport. It was only about a seven or eight-minute drive from the airport to the ocean-view villa in Sanya Bay.
"You guys really know how to live!" Su Chen said, lying on the open-air viewing deck on the second floor and gazing at the distant beach.
"You should be saying that to Qin Fen. He’s the one who bought this villa specifically for his Sanya trips. I heard this guy comes here every year to party all night, every night, for a whole month," Sicong said, throwing Qin Fen under the bus.
"Partying all night for a month, tsk tsk tsk..." Su Chen’s gaze couldn’t help but size up the somewhat skinny Qin Fen. ’After a month of that, he must have to load up on all sorts of supplements to recover.’
How could Qin Fen stand for that? He immediately retorted, "Tch! I’m not like *some* people... who take a bunch of hot internet celebs out on a yacht and don’t get off for half a month. Who knows, maybe the rocking of the boat helps."
Listening to the two of them go back and forth, practically exposing all of each other’s secrets, Su Chen was happy to just sit back and enjoy the show.
Soon, the two of them realized something was off and, with perfect tacit understanding, both stopped. They turned their gazes to the "drama-watcher" on the side, Su Chen.
"Er... why are you two looking at me? Keep going! Qin Fen, what were you just saying about Sicong abroad...?" Su Chen said with an innocent look, holding a slice of watermelon.
Sicong and Qin Fen exchanged a look and, with perfect synchronicity, gave Su Chen the middle finger.
The three of them kept chatting on the viewing deck, and in the blink of an eye, it was noon.
Qin Fen had originally planned to find a Michelin restaurant to treat Su Chen to a welcome meal, but Su Chen rejected the idea without a second thought. The portions at Michelin restaurants are tiny; how could anyone get full?
In the end, after a brief discussion, the three of them just called a nearby five-star hotel and had them deliver a table full of their signature specialty dishes.
After a sumptuous seafood feast, Su Chen casually asked when they were going out. Back at the airport, Sicong and the others had mentioned going out on the water in the afternoon, but he wasn’t clear on the specific time.
If there was still time, Su Chen planned to go to his room and rest for a bit. Last night on Zheng Island, he had hosted a small welcome party for Professor Wu and his group. During the banquet, he’d been forced to drink a lot by Old Chen and the others, and he still wasn’t feeling quite himself today.
"Probably around four or five in the afternoon. You should go rest first. I’ll call you later," Sicong said, lying on the sofa.
"Alright," Su Chen said before heading upstairs.
Just as he lay down, Su Chen sat bolt upright in bed and smacked his forehead. ’Sigh... I’m so forgetful. I forgot to make a call!’
Su Chen quickly pulled out his phone and called his father, Su Zhuyun, to ask if they were still vacationing in Hainan.
