Chapter 483 - 480: Tonight at 8, Enjoy the Show

Jasper Shaw worked quickly. He put the eggs into the pan as soon as the oil was hot, flipping them over once he judged they were golden and crisp.

By the time the eggs were fried, the water in the other pot had also come to a boil.

Chloe Sinclair added the noodles, and once they were half-cooked, she put them into the egg broth to continue cooking.

In no time, a delicious aroma filled the entire room.

Jasper Shaw placed three eggs in Chloe’s bowl, sprinkled some chopped scallions on top, and carried it to the dining table.

The apartment wasn’t large. The dining table was just outside the kitchen, and Chloe sometimes used it as a desk for work.

"I’ll be moving in in a few days."

Jasper Shaw said suddenly.

Chloe was still eating her noodles. She suddenly looked up when she heard that.

Jasper Shaw quickly explained, "I’ve already bought the apartment next door. It’s being renovated right now, so it’ll probably be a few more days before I can move in."

In truth, Jasper had wanted to move in with Chloe for a long time.

’Even though the girl didn’t have many friends, far too many men were interested in her. Especially that athlete who lived in the same complex. Whenever Chloe had a spare moment, she’d go running with him.’

That’s why he’d been keeping a close watch on the property listings since before the New Year.

He might be rich, but he couldn’t work miracles.

The complex was located downtown near the central hospital, and it was in a desirable school district. On top of that, its security was considered second to none in Emberfall, so properties there were never on the market.

Then, after the New Year, a family that was planning to move abroad suddenly decided to sell their apartment.

A quick check revealed it was the apartment right next to Chloe’s. Jasper knew how tight the market was, and just as he’d expected, his inquiries revealed that many other people were also vying for the property.

So, he had Ian Winters buy the apartment, paying a hefty premium for it.

Renovations had been underway since the New Year holiday.

Chloe was a little stunned after hearing Jasper’s explanation.

She hadn’t heard any construction from next door this whole time.

But then she recalled seeing an apology notice in the elevator about a unit being renovated. And when she’d come home that day, she’d also found a small gift box hanging on her doorknob.

She hadn’t heard any noise at the time, so she didn’t think much of it.

’Jasper must have been worried about disturbing me,’ she thought. ’The construction crew probably only worked when I was out of the apartment.’

"Why not just move in here?" Chloe asked, a little confused.

Jasper froze, his handsome face instantly flushing a deep red.

’He hadn’t expected her to jump straight to them living together.’

For once, Jasper Shaw, a man who dominated the boardroom, was at a complete loss for words.

Chloe, however, seemed to grasp the situation and gave a knowing smile.

"Well, since you’ve already bought it, we’ll leave it at that. Besides, I only have two bedrooms here."

This apartment originally belonged to her brother, Gabriel Sinclair. He used to stay here after he finished filming, so the other bedroom was his.

So, it was actually quite convenient for Jasper to have bought the place next door.

After they finished their meal, Jasper gave Chloe the key to his new apartment, asking her to keep an eye on the place when she had a chance.

Chloe readily agreed.

As he was about to leave, Jasper suddenly asked, "Do you need me to intervene with that business online?"

He was aware of the talk online. When Chloe’s adoptive parents had appeared, he’d pieced together a rough idea of what her life had been like before.

He was furious, but his heart also ached for his girl and all the hardships she had endured.

However, since Chloe hadn’t made a move immediately, Jasper was afraid of disrupting her plans. He had only instructed his company’s PR department to do some basic management of the online comments, without interfering any further.

The situation had been brewing for a while now, and he figured his girl was about to launch her counterattack.

And sure enough, when he glanced down at her, he saw Chloe grinning, her eyes sparkling with amusement. He found it inexplicably adorable.

"Tonight at eight p.m., get ready for a good show."
