From Trash to Treasure: The Sinclair Family's Beloved Genius
Chapter 442 - 436: You’re Happy, I’m Happy, Everyone’s Happy
Nina immediately had Eight pull up the surveillance footage.
They finally found the relevant video from seven minutes ago.
Inside Chloe’s mind, the system displayed the robber’s face from every conceivable angle, leaving no blind spots.
"Master, he’s heading toward West Street."
West Street was near the entrance and had the most foot traffic.
Apparently, he wasn’t planning to leave immediately after the robbery. Instead, he was looking for a second target.
But under the system’s real-time surveillance, the man’s every move was laid bare.
Chloe moved quickly, following the surveillance feed from the system, and finally reached West Street.
West Street was lined with cafes and pubs, the noisy cries of vendors filling the air.
Chloe stopped in front of an old, quiet courtyard house, her eyes fixed on a specific spot.
The livestream camera panned to the scene, and the comments section instantly blew up.
Gabriel and Hailey, panting, finally caught up. But before they could say a word, they saw Chloe walk right in without a backward glance.
The two exchanged a look and resignedly followed her.
The moment they stepped into the large courtyard, however, they saw Chloe kick a man, sending him crashing to the ground, howling in pain.
A gasp went through the crowd.
Everyone looked at the man screaming on the ground, then at the furious-looking young woman, feeling that she looked somewhat familiar.
One man in the crowd was eating a sausage, and the sudden commotion startled him so much that he dropped it on the ground.
Seeing the cameraman behind her, the man couldn’t help but smack his lips. "Holy crap, they’re not filming a movie, are they?"
But the next moment, the screams of the man on the ground pulled everyone back to reality.
The man had a messy mop of hair like dead branches. His eyes were murky, the whites yellowed, and his mouth jutted out in a way that made him look particularly sleazy.
In truth, Chloe hadn’t used much force. The man, caught off guard, had mostly fallen because he’d tried to dodge in a panic and failed.
But playing the victim while lying on the ground was his usual move.
Hearing the disapproving murmurs from the crowd, he decided to play along, rolling on the ground in agony.
"Oh my god, my knee! My tailbone...!"
"Doesn’t hurt at all, does it?"
In the next second, Chloe exposed his act.
She looked down at him, her ink-black eyes completely devoid of emotion.
Before the man could react, he saw Chloe crouch down.
RRRIP! Chloe roughly yanked open the zipper on the man’s jacket.
A worn-out brown bag fell out.
Then, a scornful smile touched Chloe’s lips.
Suddenly, her eyes darted to the man’s pockets.
Before the man could react and cover his pockets, her hands were already inside them.
She pulled out a rose-colored wallet and a black wallet with a cartoon character on it.
The onlookers were dumbfounded, not yet connecting the dots.
Just then, however, a woman suddenly cried out, pointing at the rose-colored wallet on the ground.
"That’s my wallet!"
"My wallet was missing!"
Her words stunned the crowd.
A commotion erupted among the bystanders.
By now, the staff had also rushed over.
The head of the camera crew quickly explained, "Excuse me, everyone. We’re the film crew for the variety show *Country Life*. This was an unexpected incident, and our crew has recorded the entire thing. The viewers in the livestream can testify to that."
He explained this to assure everyone that this wasn’t a publicity stunt or a cheap trick to grab attention.
The bystanders were still in shock and didn’t immediately process the staff member’s words.
But the woman’s earlier cry had already led them to guess what was going on.
"People like him should be sent to the police station!"
"Yeah! He looks pretty young to be doing this kind of thing!"
"I already called the police."
And so, the crowd abandoned their tour of the ancient town, and a large group escorted the criminal to the police station.
Chloe opened the bag, retrieved their money, and prepared to head back.
"Sis, you’re just leaving like that?"
Gabriel hadn’t expected to get the money back so quickly.
So he was taken aback when he saw his little sister grab the bag and get ready to leave.
Chloe nodded. "I’m hungry. Let’s go back and eat."
A person’s gotta eat.
Now that she mentioned it, Hailey realized she was hungry too.
But she was even more confused.
"Chloe, how did you guess the thief would come this way?"
Of course, Chloe couldn’t tell him she had a system, so she just decided to play it cool. "It was an easy guess. Just a matter of probability."
"West Street has the most foot traffic, and it’s near the entrance with a lot of shops. It’s an easier place to strike."
"Plus, I figured he didn’t leave after the robbery because he didn’t get much money."
He was probably just a petty thief who’d never committed armed robbery before. He took a desperate risk today because he saw the bag. When we were selling radishes, we took all cash, mostly small bills, so the bag was stuffed full.
The guy probably thought there was a lot of money inside and decided to go for a big score.
But then he found out it wasn’t even 1,000 yuan in total.
People like that are insatiably greedy. When the money didn’t meet his expectations, of course he’d go looking for another target.
Meanwhile, in the comments section, the viewers were definitely impressed by Chloe’s flex.
Especially since after the incident, a few of the show’s staff members also went to the police station to get the details.
The man confessed to the robbery without any argument.
After all, the ancient town was covered in security cameras. It would be easy to identify him, so there was no point in denying it.
When the police interrogated him about why he was planning to strike again, the man scowled, clearly getting angry just thinking about it.
"I saw that woman was so pretty, and she was carrying such a big, stuffed bag. I thought it was full of money, but when I looked, it wasn’t even 1,000 yuan!"
If it hadn’t been for that, I wouldn’t have risked robbing her.
And look at me now. I barely got any money, and I landed myself in jail.
Comments Section—
"LMAO, I can’t believe Chloe was so right."
"I thought my girl was just showing off, but I can’t believe the robber said the exact same thing she did."
"See? Nina leaves everyone speechless, no matter who they are."
"I kinda feel bad for the robber, lol."
"He could have robbed someone any other day, but he had to do it on the day Nina and Chloe were selling radishes."
"Am I the only one who noticed how good my girl’s skills are? That roundhouse kick was so cool. I wonder what martial arts school she trained at."
"I think her investigative skills are amazing. Chloe seems to know things in advance that we don’t even notice. Her reaction speed is insane!"
"My girl would be an amazing soldier if she joined the military!"
"I thought the show was staging this, that it was all a pre-arranged plot point. It wasn’t until the robber was taken to the police station that I realized this wasn’t scripted—it actually happened in real life!"
"I was actually there. I started watching the livestream as soon as I got back. To be honest, all of us at the scene were stunned. My girl appeared so suddenly that before anyone could react, she’d already kicked the guy. At first, he was playing the victim, but she didn’t even spare him a glance and pulled the stolen goods right out from under his jacket."
"I was there too, but I didn’t see the whole thing. I can only tell you all, this was definitely not scripted!"
Because of the unexpected incident on the show, many people at the scene took photos and videos. As a result, the topic shot to the top of the trending charts in less than half an hour.
Weibo Comments Section—
"Does Chloe have some kind of curse? Trouble follows her everywhere she goes. Wouldn’t it be better if she just stayed home?"
"I heard viewers saying my girl’s investigative skills are strong. I watched the screen recording someone posted, and her analytical skills are also top-notch."
"Holy shit, that roundhouse kick was awesome."
"I thought her roundhouse kick was awesome too, so I just tried it. I’m at the hospital now. Tell Chloe, if she has any conscience at all, she’d better bring me some roast chicken! [Image attached]"
"Holy shit, dude upstairs, you’re hardcore!"
"Chloe already went viral for her fighting skills before. I remember last year when the Bank of Emberfall was robbed by international criminals. Chloe was just a passerby and got dragged in by the thugs. She got mad and bashed a dent into each of their heads. Today’s scene is nothing compared to that."
"I see a lot of comments saying Chloe is a trouble magnet, but at the end of the day, Nina was the cause of this whole incident."
"Exactly, I watched the stream too. Ultimately, if she hadn’t wandered off from the group, the money wouldn’t have been stolen. If Chloe hadn’t gotten it back, Gabriel and the others would have had no idea how to explain it to the villagers."
「 」
When Chloe and the others returned to the village, they handed the recovered money over to the production team.
Simon Lawson had already received a call from the production team earlier, so he was mentally prepared.
After they finished their meal, it was time to count the money.
Chloe’s group had made 850 yuan that morning.
Gabriel’s group, on the other hand, hadn’t even made 500 yuan.
Fortunately, both groups had successfully completed the task set by the production team.
Simon Lawson handed over the 1,000-plus yuan to the villagers, not a single cent missing, and then initiated a one-minute poll in the livestream.
Unsurprisingly, Chloe came in first place.
As for Nina, although her personal livestream had over 400,000 concurrent viewers, very few of them voted for her.
Perhaps even her own fans were too embarrassed to vote.
It was an undeniable fact that Nina had secretly strayed from the group and ditched her teammates to go shopping.
