From the Metropolis to the Strongest in the Cosmos
Chapter 377: The Fury of the Demon Race
Elder Lie Shu wore an apologetic expression. He glanced at Li Luo and his companion beside Li Yang and thought, ’Did they just happen to arrive here?’
He wasn’t entirely sure.
However, he didn’t really care about that. He only cared about Li Yang’s current attitude toward the Star Moon Race.
Li Yang hadn’t died, but the assassination attempt had occurred right outside the entrance to their Star Moon Race territory. Li Yang might no longer have any favorable impression of the Star Moon Race; he might even have grown to despise them.
"It’s alright."
Hearing Elder Lie Shu’s words, Li Yang smiled, showing that he didn’t mind.
"Lie Shu," the man in the purple armor, Li Luo, clearly knew the elder and said with a smile, "I’ve come this time hoping to trade for some Star Moon Fruits. I was wondering if your race is open to a trade?"
The Star Moon Race didn’t often trade their Star Moon Fruits.
Hearing this, Li Yang smiled and said, "Lord Li Luo, I traded for some Star Moon Fruits from the Star Moon Race earlier. If you need some, I can give them to you."
"Oh?"
At these words, Li Luo’s eyes seemed to light up.
Just then, Elder Lie Shu also smiled and said, "Li Luo, our race has no plans to trade Star Moon Fruits for the time being. If you need some, you can talk to Young Master Li Yang."
It was no surprise. Li Yang had just exchanged for one hundred Star Moon Fruits, leaving only a hundred left in their treasury. They wouldn’t be trading any more away anytime soon.
"Alright, then." Li Luo nodded.
After exchanging a few more words, the group prepared to leave.
Li Luo took the initiative to speak. "Li Yang, Hei Xu, an Alien Race member just attacked. To be safe, in case they have other experts hiding nearby, why don’t you come with us to the Space Teleportation Array?"
It was absolutely safe inside a Space Teleportation Array, and the nearest one was still some distance away.
Li Yang and Hei Xu exchanged a look, then nodded and said, "We’ll have to trouble you, then."
After speaking, Li Yang gave Elder Lie Shu a slight nod before finally turning around. He then flew off in the same direction as Hei Xu, Li Luo, and Mu Xuan, leaving Elder Lie Shu to watch them go.
Watching Li Yang’s departing figure, Elder Lie Shu still felt a sense of unease.
Despite Li Yang saying he was fine after the assassination attempt, Elder Lie Shu still couldn’t help but worry.
He cursed inwardly, ’Damn it! If the Demon Race and the others want to assassinate the human Li Yang, why do they have to do it right next to our Star Moon Race territory?’
Whether Li Yang lived or died wasn’t actually that important to him. He only cared about the interests of the Star Moon Race.
If Li Yang had died near their territory, the Star Moon Race would have certainly faced some trouble.
Moreover, Li Yang had been with the Star Moon Race for a few years, and they had "served" him perfectly, doing everything in their power to accommodate him. Yet, at the very last moment, something like this had to happen.
As he mulled this over, Elder Lie Shu was also inwardly astonished at the human Li Yang’s potential and status.
The Alien Race had actually dispatched a Tri-System Deity just to kill Li Yang. He, Lie Shu, held a relatively high position in the Star Moon Race, but even he was only a Tri-System Deity.
And one had to understand that after making such an attack, that Tri-System Deity was guaranteed to die.
’If only Li Yang were a member of our Star Moon Race,’ Elder Lie Shu thought, sighing internally.
To light up the Star Moon Stele with a purple glow... If such a genius were to appear among them, their race would be ecstatic and would spare no effort to cultivate him.
In all of history, the Star Moon Race had only ever produced two geniuses who could fully illuminate the purple light.
In the last one hundred billion years, there hadn’t even been more than a handful in their race who could achieve the golden light.
...
While Elder Lie Shu of the Star Moon Race was still pondering, events were unfolding before the Space Teleportation Array.
"Li Yang, Hei Xu, we have urgent business to attend to, so we’ll be leaving now," the middle-aged man in purple armor, Li Luo, said, looking at the two of them.
Both Li Luo and Mu Xuan had official duties, so naturally, they couldn’t stay for long.
"Safe travels," Li Yang and Hei Xu replied with a smile.
"Haha, Li Yang, I hope we’ll have a chance to fight side-by-side soon," Li Luo laughed.
For Li Yang to fight alongside him, he would have to have become a Four-Element Deity.
After saying this, Li Luo and Mu Xuan turned and departed.
"Hei Xu, let’s go too."
Li Yang retracted his gaze and said, "Back to Earth in the Milky Way Galaxy."
He looked around the area. ’To think so much could happen in such a short time.’
WHOOSH!
The two of them entered their vessel, which then flew into the Space Teleportation Array and vanished in an instant.
...
In the territory of the Demon Race, a giant python at least ten thousand kilometers long was coiled around a massive mountain peak.
Its gaze was fixed on the area below, its eyes radiating an incredibly vicious aura.
"You’re saying Blood Wolf’s soul imprint shattered and he’s dead? And what about the human, Li Yang? Is he dead?"
The giant python faintly radiated a terrifying pressure, causing the demonic beasts below to tremble in fear.
Blood Wolf’s death was a certainty after he made his move. The crucial question was whether or not he had succeeded in killing the human Li Yang.
If he had succeeded, then Blood Wolf’s death would have been worthwhile.
"Lord Wilderness."
Below the mountain peak, the demonic beast stammered fearfully, "We don’t know if Li Yang is dead. However, just a moment before, Blood Wolf sent us a message saying he was about to strike. Less than a few seconds after that, his soul imprint disappeared."
"The human Li Yang’s protector, Hei Xu, is a Tri-System Deity with strength comparable to Blood Wolf’s. If Blood Wolf had attacked, he wouldn’t have died instantly, regardless of whether he succeeded in killing Li Yang or not."
"Therefore, we deduce that a more powerful expert from the Human Race must have been with Li Yang and intervened. For Blood Wolf to die in just a few seconds, that human expert must be a Four-Element Deity at the very least."
The enormous demonic beast’s voice trembled as it concluded, "Based on our analysis, the probability that the human Li Yang is still alive is high."
They didn’t know the exact details of Blood Wolf’s assassination attempt, but they could infer a great deal from his communications and the precise timing of his soul imprint’s disappearance.
"The human Li Yang isn’t dead?"
Hearing this, a terrifying ripple of power emanated from Wilderness’s eyes.
"A Tri-System Deity made a move, and still failed to kill him?"
He had considered Li Yang’s potential to be on par with the human Mixed Void. To be absolutely sure, he had even dispatched a powerful Tri-System Deity to eliminate him.
But this assassination attempt had actually failed?
A mere Star Lord Realm genius like Li Yang survived, and in exchange, they lost a powerful Tri-System Deity?
"Investigate! Go and investigate! Find out for certain if the human Li Yang is still alive!"
The giant python stared down, its eyes filled with icy malevolence. "I want to understand the entire process," it hissed. "Even if Li Yang is alive, I need to know how he managed to survive!"
They had meticulously prepared this assassination attempt on Li Yang. The probability of success should have been at least eighty percent! But it still failed!
If even a Tri-System Deity failed, how was he supposed to deal with Li Yang? Dispatch a Four-Element Deity?
A powerhouse of that level was a mid-tier combatant even for the Demon Race. It was impossible to send one to simply trade their life for Li Yang’s.
A Tri-System Deity was the most powerful asset he, Wilderness of the Demon Race, could mobilize for the task of killing Li Yang!
And in truth, he couldn’t mobilize many combatants of that level.
If this attempt failed, the next assassin he sent would still only be a Tri-System Deity.
That was why he had to find out how Li Yang survived.
Otherwise, the next time he dispatched a Tri-System Deity to attack, the outcome would very likely be another failure!
"Yes, Lord Wilderness." The demonic beast below didn’t dare say another word and quickly left to investigate.
