Chapter 759 - 363: Little Bear Troop (Part 3)
Thump thump thump—
Suddenly, just as Jiang Xin was freaking out, there was a knocking sound outside the hovercar window. The three teenagers looked over to see an upside-down face appear on the window, wearing a particularly gleeful smile, and even waved a hand.
"Ah—there’s a ghost—" Before Jiang Xin and the others could greet them, the long-tense girl screamed loudly, curling her body into the corner of the car, her face full of fear.
Jiang Xin let out a chuckle as the person outside showed a slightly frustrated expression, flipping down and jumping inside through the broken window. It was a rather handsome boy, with delicate features, a high nose, fair skin, and eyes that were always full of lively charm.
His fitted deep black combat uniform exuded an indescribable gallantry, covered with an obvious standard-issue bulletproof vest from the Military Department. A vintage-looking long knife hung at his waist, along with three energy ammo clips and two small weapon pouches. Various other weapons and military gear adorned his body, with a pair of scanning goggles resembling waterproof glasses perched on his forehead.
The boy looked at the obviously guilty Hua Yi and Jiang Xin, weighed the handle of the long knife at his waist, and clicked his tongue, saying, "Just now thinking Huaixi would be angry, huh? What were you doing earlier? A bunch of kids who’ve just entered the Intermediate Department skipping school for one or two months, trying to solve cases and play heroes—it’s definitely not the right time... Now you know what fear is, right?"
Seeing the visitor was the noticeably more approachable Huaifeng, Hua Yi secretly breathed a sigh of relief, while Jiang Xin said indignantly, "Huaifeng, if my calculations aren’t wrong, you should be younger than us by a year or two. We’re kids, but what are you? I’m actually determined to become an outstanding Alliance Warrior, not just a kid..."
Huaifeng wasn’t fazed by him, having known Jiang Xin for many years, very aware of this guy’s temper. He slightly restrained his smile, "You claim you’re not kids, yet your actions make people doubt your age. Who would be so audacious as to sneak into such a dangerous lair without permission? If anything went wrong, wouldn’t your lives be lost here?"
"This was just an accident! An accident! And it’s not like we didn’t gain anything at all. At least we’ve found the location of this base, right? When it comes time for rewards, don’t bother with honor medals, just exempt us from the accumulated homework these days."
Jiang Xin, always thick-skinned with outstanding pestering skills, wouldn’t dare behave like this with Huaixi because his cold resistance isn’t strong enough. Even if he were thick-skinned, he’d freeze in Huaixi’s presence. But when facing Huaifeng, it’s a different story...
"Not blaming you is already good enough, and you still want a reward... You’re really causing trouble!" Huaifeng sighed, rubbing his forehead in exasperation with these childhood playmates, even using his elder brother’s catchphrase.
"Just this once, won’t happen again." If the environment wasn’t so bad here, he’d even want to roll around and act cute.
"You have no credibility; your words cannot be trusted!" Huaifeng glanced at Jiang Xin, then at Hua Yi beside him, who was usually the strategist, saying with some frustration, "And Hua Yi, it’s bad enough Jiang Xin wants to cause trouble, but why are you also joining in? This faction has already caught the military’s attention, which speaks to how powerful it is."
Can’t these rogue kids consider reality a bit? If anyone were injured or died, wouldn’t it become a lifelong regret?
Setting aside the danger of the event, Huaifeng greatly admires and is eager to try their bold adventures. However, considering the risk level, it’s enough to make him furious.
These kids! What an unruly bunch! Huaifeng gritted his teeth in frustration, not only were they troublesome, but they were in their late teens with middle-school bravado!
Jiang Xin, Hua Yi, Qianhe, and the brothers Zhao Lin and Zhao Yue! Five people, not a single one could be counted on! Jiang Xin and Hua Yi were classmates in the Elementary Department with the Huaixi Brothers, Qianhe was no exception, and Zhao Lin and Zhao Yue were brothers of Huaixi’s colleagues...
Qianhe, who usually seems quite normal, has also gone crazy with Jiang Xin and these guys? Luckily, they knew to send a distress signal when in danger, or else they wouldn’t have known how to find them.
Hua Yi remained silent, clearly aware of how reckless it was for them to undertake such actions.
"Tch, underestimating people..."
Jiang Xin felt terribly frustrated; he and the Huaixi Brothers were classmates, yet while they’d already gone through multiple tours on the battlefield, he was still stuck at school, seeing war news every day but unable to help. With a somewhat passionate nature, Jiang Xin was naturally upset. He wanted to be a warrior, not waste time at school.
"It’s not about underestimating, just stating facts."
Huaifeng didn’t want to discourage the other too much, kids will be kids, right? Which child hasn’t gone through a rebellious phase at some point? It’s just a matter of severity, and he needs to learn to empathize.
"As the saying goes, sharpening your skills doesn’t delay your work. It’s better for you to improve your skills now than to head to the battlefield half-baked and end up dead."
Every life is precious, even on the battlefield; every soldier has only one life. (To be continued.
