Is Miss Yumo nervous?

The answer is yes~

Or rather, our Miss Yumo is currently in a state of absolute panic.

Actually,

when she heard the Black Rose Knight’s report in the garden earlier, Yumo’s first reaction wasn’t to go see Mengxi, but to think about how she could make an excuse to avoid her. After realizing that Mengxi’s memories hadn’t been overwritten and that she knew perfectly well about Yumo putting on an act in front of her, Miss Yumo’s mind was completely consumed by embarrassment. She had absolutely no idea in what capacity or with what attitude she should face the Child of Destiny.

Forget whether she should meet her or not.

In her current state, the moment she saw Mengxi, she would probably turn bright red and involuntarily recall all those painfully embarrassing moments from her past. Mengxi had known everything, yet Yumo had just kept right on acting in front of her. She hadn’t even realized that Mengxi had seen through her, and had continued smugly congratulating herself like an idiot...

She was the Hall of Ten Thousand Demons itself, the big sister of every Abyss Demon in this world! The mother of Demon King-class existences?! And yet she had actually been fooled by some little girl who wasn’t even that old?!

Wouldn’t people laugh themselves to death if word got out?!

It was simply—

‘Too... too, too damn embarrassing!’

Miss Yumo couldn’t even stop herself from puffing out her cheeks and furiously cursing her past self in her heart. After all this, her image in Mengxi’s mind was probably no longer that of the kind and gentle older sister she had originally imagined herself to be, but rather that of a silly older sister...

Wuwuwuwu, no!

...

Therefore, overwhelmed by embarrassment, Miss Yumo initially had no desire whatsoever to meet Mengxi.

She wasn’t mentally prepared yet.

She still needed just a ‘tiny’ bit more time to prepare.

But,

after thinking it over, Yumo dismissed that idea.

After all, Xue Tianao was dead now, leaving Mengxi as the sole Child of Destiny. If Yumo wanted to complete the trial, she had no choice but to nurture Mengxi. And if she wanted to nurture her, she inevitably had to interact with her.

Running away wouldn’t solve anything.

At the same time, that girl Mengxi already knew about Yumo’s relationship with the Black Rose Family. If Mengxi exposed these matters, the Black Rose Family would inevitably be subjected to attacks from human forces in the future, putting Xiao and those children in an extremely dangerous situation.

If the Black Rose Family were destroyed, then the escape route Yumo had prepared for her children after her death would undoubtedly cease to exist as well.

Although Mengxi had said she wouldn’t expose Yumo’s identity, Yumo still couldn’t stop herself from worrying.

What if she refused to meet Mengxi, Mengxi became angry, and exposed all those secrets?

What would she do then?

Furthermore,

once all these matters were exposed,

the children would immediately learn that her identity had been seen through by some little girl, and that she had even been fooled by her for so long.

How would her children look at her then?

Wouldn’t all her dignity as their mother vanish completely?!

‘Wuwuwuwu, I hate this so much!!’

...

In short, after thinking it over again and again, Miss Yumo’s heart became engulfed in an indescribably tangled mess of emotions.

In the end, however, the girl still chose to come to the main command tent and meet this Miss Child of Destiny.

Yet after seeing that beautiful face that looked so pure and innocent despite belonging to the person who had fooled her for so long, the flames of resentment inside Yumo’s heart couldn’t help blazing up once again.

Before meeting her, Yumo had clearly intended to have a proper conversation with Mengxi.

However,

after they met, Miss Yumo’s body and reason uncontrollably entered a sulking state. She folded her arms across her chest and stared at Mengxi with puffed cheeks, constantly speaking in an icy, indifferent, emotionless tone. Eventually, she even chose to completely ignore Mengxi’s words.

Even though

she had wanted to speak as gently as possible...

Becoming this emotional had obviously exceeded even Yumo’s own expectations. But right now, she seemed completely incapable of controlling the emotions inside her heart.

All she could do was follow the resentment within her and put on an expression that practically screamed, ‘I’m breaking off our friendship.’

Obviously, this entire series of actions was Miss Yumo’s way of telling Mengxi:

‘I’m really unhappy...’

I don’t want to talk to you anymore!

Hurry up and get lost!

I never want to see you again!

...

...

Yet Miss Mengxi stubbornly refused to leave.

Instead, she kept questioning Yumo over and over, staring at her with those pure, innocent, curious eyes while repeatedly asking why she was angry.

Finally, after being asked the same thing again and again, Yumo bit her lip and could no longer hold herself back. She exploded with a furious shout:

“You rotten girl! Aren’t you asking something you already know?! You fooled me for so long! You even watched me stupidly keep acting for all that time! Am I not allowed to be angry?! That’s right! I’m angry! The kind where I’m furious from embarrassment! The kind you can’t coax away!”

Yumo roared furiously.

Some of her Shadow of Silence Power even slipped slightly out of control along with her emotions, spreading unscrupulously throughout the surroundings and instantly throwing everything inside the tent into complete disarray.

‘Fiercely’ glaring at the girl before her, Yumo snapped irritably:

“So what exactly do you want now...?! Huh?!”

However,

before Miss Yumo could even finish speaking, Mengxi’s words made her freeze.

“I’m sorry, Sister Yumo.”

?!

Huh?

At this moment, Mengxi was no longer repeating ‘why’ like a broken record. Instead, she offered an apology.

The cheerful smile that had been on her face moments ago had completely disappeared, replaced by deep guilt.

Genuine guilt from the bottom of her heart.

The suddenly serious girl and the intense remorse within her silver-haired counterpart’s eyes made Yumo tremble slightly.

Then,

under Miss Yumo’s somewhat dazed gaze, Mengxi took off her shoes, revealing her slender feet wrapped in snow-white stockings. She climbed onto the sofa and knelt directly in front of Miss Yumo.

Looking at Sister Yumo, who had suddenly gone blank, Mengxi spoke again:

“I’m sorry, Sister Yumo. I deceived you for so long.”

Although she had apologized once before while they were in the ruins, strictly speaking, that previous apology had ultimately been interrupted by the appearance of Xue Tianao’s soul aura.

And since Sister Yumo was clearly still angry about what had happened,

Mengxi apologized once again.

The girl’s sincere words and earnest gaze left Miss Yumo stunned. Her crimson eyes blinked repeatedly as she sat there at a loss.

After finally coming back to her senses, a trace of doubt involuntarily emerged within Miss Yumo’s crimson eyes.

This girl...

Is this apology sincere?

Or is she fooling me again like before?

“Enmmm...”

Yumo didn’t answer, instead continuing to stare ‘furiously’ at Mengxi.

As for Mengxi?

She seemed to notice the suspicion in Miss Yumo’s gaze and shook her head rather helplessly.

“Really, Sister Yumo. I’m sincerely sorry. I’m not fooling you.”

Hearing this,

and sensing the completely different sincerity surrounding the silver-haired girl compared to before, Yumo pursed her pink lips.

After struggling internally for a while, some of her suspicion finally faded.

This girl...

She should be telling the truth this time, right?

After hesitating for a moment, Yumo maintained her expression of ‘keeping others a thousand miles away’ and unceremoniously pushed Mengxi away when the girl nearly pressed herself right up against her.

“Why are you suddenly saying this again?”

“Because you’re still angry, Sister.”

“I... I’m not angry.”

“Sister Yumo is lying again. You just threw a huge tantrum.”

“So what if I’m angry? You fooled me for so long! Am I not allowed to be angry?! Any normal person would lose their temper after discovering they’d been deceived, okay?”

Yumo pouted, speaking with her cheeks puffed out in anger.

She was clearly throwing a tantrum, but in Mengxi’s eyes, she looked like nothing more than a little white rabbit with its fur standing on end. Not only was she not frightening in the slightest, she was even rather adorable...

Hearing Miss Yumo’s words, Mengxi nodded slightly in complete agreement.

“That’s true. Being deceived really does make people angry.”

“Exactly...”

“But, Sister Yumo? Have you ever thought about something?”

“What?”

Mengxi didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, she scooted even closer to Yumo, gazing at that breathtakingly beautiful face now only inches away from her own.

Meeting those crimson eyes filled with a mixture of displeasure and confusion, Miss Mengxi slowly opened her mouth. This time, even her tone carried a faint trace of grievance.

“Sister Yumo, don’t forget. At the very beginning, you were the one who deceived me first~”
