Chapter 116: Chapter 95: Prince Qi’s Downfall, Dad is Awesome!!
The Little Fatty Crown Prince sitting in the back began to enthusiastically clear up Qin Wanyue’s doubts.
"Fortunately, Quan Fu was strong-willed. Not only did he not fall for the trick, but he actually shocked everyone with a brilliant display..."
"Hmm?" Hearing the Little Fatty Crown Prince’s words, Qin Wanyue frowned slightly, a look of suspicion flashing across her face. "How do you know everything?"
She felt that this chubby boy in front of her, who claimed to be the son of a merchant, knew a bit too much about the affairs of the palace. However, she wasn’t naturally suspicious. After thinking about it for a moment, she didn’t harbor any real doubts.
"Uh..." The Little Fatty Crown Prince’s face froze slightly before he quickly smiled. "My father has connections in the royal court, so we get news faster."
"Oh." Qin Wanyue nodded nonchalantly and then became lost in thought. "Based on what you said, the Crown Prince of the Eastern Palace is a poor judge of character. To be classmates with a despicable person like Wang Qianzhi... Sigh." She sighed slowly, her eyes filled with worry. "The future of our Great Saint Dynasty... is truly worrisome."
Zeng Anmin pursed his lips. The Little Fatty Crown Prince’s face completely stiffened.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing their strange expressions, Qin Wanyue blinked, thinking she had said something wrong. "Why do you have those expressions?"
"Haha, nothing. Wanyue is right!" Zeng Anmin smiled as he looked at the Little Fatty Crown Prince.
After getting to know Qin Wanyue well over these past few days, his address for her had changed from the formal ’Ms. Qin’ to just ’Wanyue’. His grudge against that old man Qin Shoucheng had already faded. After all, he knew the news that Qin Shoucheng had fiercely impeached King Jiang in the royal court. Furthermore, the old man hadn’t used a single cent of the money King Jiang gave to Shuidu Academy, handing it all over to the state instead.
The Little Fatty Crown Prince’s expression was incredibly strained. He let out a dry laugh. "Indeed. Let’s hope the Crown Prince will mature more in the future."
As he said this, a look of determination subtly showed on his face. He firmly believed that to be a wise ruler, one must personally correct their mistakes upon realizing them. This was exactly what the Grand Ancestor had taught.
After classes ended, out on the street.
Zeng Anmin experienced a rare return to the feeling of being a college student in his previous life. During these past few days at the Imperial College, he felt as if his soul had been liberated. There was no more scheming and deceit, nor the constant fear of not surviving to see the next day. There were only clear eyes and kind hearts.
"Yes, I am just an ordinary college student," he murmured.
Listening to the vendors peddling their wares, a pure smile appeared on Zeng Anmin’s face. He thought, "I am still that same young man from before, without the slightest change. What sly little fox, sinister schemer, or politician? What the hell does any of that have to do with me!"
With these thoughts in mind, Zeng Anmin soon found himself standing in front of Bai Ziqing.
"Why has Quan Fu come looking for me at this time?" Bai Ziqing asked.
"Ahem." Zeng Anmin looked around and, upon finding that Bai Ziqing was the only one in the office, his heart relaxed slightly. His face grew serious. "Ziqing, now that Prince Qi has fallen, who is going to confiscate his property?"
Bai Ziqing froze for a moment, then thought about it and replied, "The date for the confiscation hasn’t been set yet. It will probably be a couple of days. Why?"
Zeng Anmin sighed. "Is it possible for me to go too?"
At these words, Bai Ziqing’s gaze turned serious. He stroked his chin and said uncertainly, "We’ll see when the time comes. I’m not sure if I can arrange it properly."
"Hmm..."
Zeng Anmin hummed in thought, then stepped closer to Bai Ziqing and lowered his voice. "Can you get your hands on the route for Prince Qi’s exile to West River?"
Bai Ziqing’s head snapped up, staring at Zeng Anmin in shock. "Are you trying to..."
"If he doesn’t die, my heart won’t be at peace!" Zeng Anmin’s voice was incredibly dark and profound.
In truth, sometimes Zeng Anmin felt quite conflicted. He was obviously a pure and innocent college student. How could such ruthless, emotionless words come out of his mouth so easily?
