Chapter 108: Chapter 93: Father! I Have a Plan to Eliminate Prince Qi!

After speaking, the guard walked deeper toward the inner gates. Zeng Anmin stood there, waiting with a cheerful smile.

Before long, the guard returned, followed by a man dressed as a Governmental Constable. The guard’s face bore a smile, and his attitude was even more respectful. "Director Bai invites you in. You just need to follow this Governmental Constable."

"Alright." Zeng Anmin gently patted the guard’s shoulder. "Thanks a lot."

"You’re welcome, you’re welcome." The guard chuckled, bowing even lower.

"Please, Mr. Zeng," the Governmental Constable said. He didn’t know Zeng Anmin, but since Bai Ziqing was the head of the ten Directors of the Imperial City Department, any guest he personally requested to see could naturally not be slighted.

"Hmm." Zeng Anmin hummed in acknowledgment. His smile never fading, he followed the Governmental Constable into the Imperial City Department.

But they had barely taken a few steps before they ran right into an acquaintance striding vigorously toward them. The man had a dark complexion and a thick beard. Standing nearly ten feet tall, he moved like a walking mountain. A brocade robe stretched tightly over his bulging muscles, and the full beard framing his face bristled like steel needles. Just his mere gait exuded an unparalleled, oppressive aura.

It was one of the four Commanders of the Imperial City Department—the North Commander, Prince Qi!

Upon seeing him, Zeng Anmin couldn’t help but doubt his own luck. He wondered how he managed to bump into him of all people. However, on second thought, he felt relieved. After all, the man was a chief official of the Imperial City Department. If he wasn’t here, it wasn’t like he would be hanging around the Ministry of the Secretariat.

Seeing the man approaching, the guiding Governmental Constable hastily stopped and bowed. "Greetings, North Commander."

Prince Qi ignored him entirely, walking forward expressionlessly. But as he passed by Zeng Anmin, he coincidentally caught a glimpse of him from the corner of his eye and stopped dead in his tracks.

Great. Zeng Anmin’s mouth twitched.

Prince Qi’s dark face was full of majesty. He gave Zeng Anmin a brief, indifferent look before fixing his gaze on the respectful Governmental Constable. "Who told you to bring him in?" his icy voice rang out.

The Governmental Constable never expected that simply guiding a guest would somehow offend Prince Qi.

THUD!

The Governmental Constable dropped straight to his knees. "Commander..."

Before he could say more, a leisurely and charming voice rang out. "I did. Why? Did I disturb the Commander’s investigation?"

The voice was incredibly familiar. Zeng Anmin looked up to see a figure in a white robe making a grand entrance, his striking head of curly yellow hair fluttering in the wind.

CLICK, CLACK, CLICK.

With light steps, he slowly walked up to Zeng Anmin. He looked at Prince Qi without a trace of respect on his face; instead, it radiated a cold hostility.

At these words, Prince Qi’s already dark expression darkened completely. He glared at Bai Ziqing with extreme displeasure. "Do you know his identity?" As he spoke, he cast a sidelong glance at Zeng Anmin.

"I am the son of the Minister of the Ministry of War," Zeng Anmin said with a cheerful chuckle. He raised an eyebrow at Prince Qi. "What’s wrong? It’s only been a few days, and Prince Qi already doesn’t recognize me?"

"No matter who you are, the Imperial City Department is a restricted area. Irrelevant people are not allowed in," Prince Qi said, staring expressionlessly at Zeng Anmin. His voice carried a hint of warning.

Zeng Anmin couldn’t be bothered to deal with him, but it was just his own rotten luck. Just as he was about to speak again, Bai Ziqing let out a cold sneer. "Surely Prince Qi isn’t unaware that Zeng Anmin solved quite a few cases in the Liangjiang Commandery? I called him here because I naturally have an important case that requires his assistance. How does that make him an irrelevant person?"

These words nearly made Prince Qi lose his composure. Mentioning that Zeng Anmin had solved cases in the Liangjiang Commandery was no different from rubbing salt in his wounds.

"Very well!" Prince Qi’s smile was almost savage. He took a deep breath, restoring his emotionless facade. His voice was no longer as domineering as before as he shot a dismissive glance at Bai Ziqing. "There are seven days left until the deadline. If you cannot solve the case by then, I will definitely have you thrown out of the Imperial City Department."

With a cold sneer, he turned and strode toward the exit of the Imperial City Department.

Watching his retreating back, Zeng Anmin clicked his tongue. A subtle look of pity slowly crept onto his face.

"This way." Bai Ziqing, always mindful of his appearance, gave Zeng Anmin a calm look before leading the way deeper inside.

Zeng Anmin naturally followed right behind. They arrived at an office and went inside without another word.

"Quan Fu, what did you seek me out for?" Bai Ziqing’s calm facade vanished, replaced by a warm smile.

"That fellow just mentioned seven days? What seven days?" Zeng Anmin didn’t state his purpose right away, casually finding a topic to chat about first. He acted much more relaxed in front of Bai Ziqing. Finding a chair to sit on, he picked up a piece of fruit from the table and took a bite.

"Just some trivial case," Bai Ziqing waved his hand dismissively, clearly not wanting to dwell on the subject.

"Fair enough." Zeng Anmin took another bite of his fruit. Looking around and confirming there was no one else present, he cleared his throat and said, "I came this time mainly to ask you a question."

Bai Ziqing paid no mind to Zeng Anmin’s overly familiar behavior. He picked up an apple from the table, took a bite, and asked, "What is it?"

"Judging from your reaction earlier, you really don’t get along with that dark-faced brute?" Zeng Anmin asked, raising an eyebrow.

At the mention of Prince Qi, Bai Ziqing’s expression turned cold again. He replied indifferently, "We have some personal grievances, but it doesn’t involve official business."

Ah! Zeng Anmin understood immediately. It was obvious that Bai Ziqing wasn’t having the easiest time in the Imperial City Department either.
