Chapter 106: Chapter 93: Father! I Have a Plan to Eliminate Prince Qi!
At the Minister’s Mansion, inside Zeng Anmin’s room.
After exiting the Sea of Consciousness, Zeng Anmin hesitated no longer and headed toward his father’s courtyard.
At this moment, he only had one thought in mind. He wanted to tell his father everything! Then, they could see if they could come up with a safer, more reliable plan together.
CREAK.
Zeng Anmin opened his door. It was already the middle of the night. He looked up at the night sky. It was dotted with countless stars, shining as brilliantly as a silver river. This was a night view he rarely got to enjoy in his past life due to all the light pollution.
"It would be great if I had a phone right now. It’s a real shame I can’t take a picture to capture such a beautiful scene," he thought to himself. Feeling completely relaxed and content, his footsteps naturally slowed down.
In his leisurely mood, he didn’t deliberately hide his footsteps. Under the faint moonlight, his shoes made a rhythmic CLACK CLACK sound against the bluestone ground. He felt that such a setting absolutely called for a poem.
"The moonlight enters the door, and I joyfully set off.
"Realizing there is no one to share this joy with, I head to the Minister’s courtyard to seek my father."
Zeng Anmin chuckled as he recited the adapted verses and arrived at his father’s courtyard.
SNORE.
Hearing the thunderous snoring, Zeng Anmin opened his mouth, speechless for a moment. Then, he firmly pounded on the door anyway, concluding his poem, "My father has also not yet slept!
"Dad! I need to talk to you about something!"
The loud knocking drowned out the snoring.
"Mmph?" a groggy voice sounded. Not long after, his father’s impatient voice rang out, "What is it?"
Sure enough, his father wasn’t sleeping after all. Zeng Anmin grinned, but then his tone turned grave. "I have something urgent to report."
"Tell me tomorrow!" His father’s voice now carried a hint of anger. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"No, it’ll be too late if I wait until tomorrow!" Zeng Anmin relentlessly persisted.
A moment of silence was followed by the RUSTLE of his father putting on his clothes. Soon, the door swung open.
Wearing a nightrobe, his father glared at Zeng Anmin with an unkind expression. "What is it?"
"Let’s talk inside." Zeng Anmin looked at Zeng Shilin with an innocent expression.
Zeng Shilin took a deep breath, pulled the door open wider, and walked back into the room.
"Hehe." Zeng Anmin chuckled as he entered and closed the door behind him. He followed his father and sat down at the table.
His father was fully awake now. Sitting at the table, he lit a candle and stared blankly at Zeng Anmin. The death glare made Zeng Anmin extremely uncomfortable.
"Let me show you something." Without hesitation, he held out his pale, slender hand.
"Hmm?" Zeng Shilin looked at it patiently.
In the next moment, his father’s gaze froze.
Faint scales slowly emerged on that pale hand, shimmering with streams of dark gold light. The strong, muscular arm transformed into a dragon claw—something he had never seen before, yet it exuded a majestic and oppressive aura.
As this dragon claw appeared, his father felt he could barely suppress the Vast Righteous Qi within his body. He had the overwhelming urge to instantly obliterate this half-human, half-demon version of Zeng Anmin right before his eyes!
But he held back. Narrowing his eyes, he stared dead at Zeng Anmin. "Demon Blood Martial Dao?"
Zeng Anmin retracted the physical anomaly and slowly shook his head. "It’s not the Demon Blood Martial Dao," he said calmly. "That day when Emperor Jianhong went south, I Awakened the Dragon Inspection Map..."
Speaking at a measured pace, he relayed every single detail to his father.
"But inside the Sea of Consciousness, after contacting those three Awakeners of the Celestial Dao Maps, I realized my situation is absolutely not as simple as an ’Awakening.’
"I still don’t know exactly how much of a combat boost that form gives me.
"That’s because, up until now, I haven’t encountered an opponent who could force me to fight with my full strength."
After finishing his explanation, Zeng Anmin looked at his father quietly. He needed to give him time to process everything.
As expected, all traces of fatigue had vanished from his father’s face. Frowning deeply, he sat in silent contemplation. Eventually, he slowly looked up. "Are you trying to say that Earl Zhongyuan most likely possessed Emperor Xi’s Map, and was just like you..."
Zeng Anmin nodded and explained, "I call it Extraction. I directly extract the true intent from the map into my own Sea of Consciousness, which is why my body undergoes transformations similar to the Demon Blood Martial Dao."
"Hmm." When Zeng Shilin was deep in thought, he liked to gaze out the window. This seemed to help him brainstorm. However, the window was currently shut tight, and it was pitch black outside. After a long while, he calmly withdrew his gaze and shook his head. "We cannot make this matter public, nor can we use it to overturn the verdict for Earl Zhongyuan’s estate."
"Why?" Zeng Anmin frowned.
"I wouldn’t be able to explain how I came to know this. It would only draw the attention of scheming individuals. If others were to set their sights on you... I don’t know what the consequences would be, but I will not gamble with your life." His father looked at Zeng Anmin mildly and continued, "Also, you must rein in this temper of yours in the future.
"You cannot throw your own safety to the wind over unexpected situations.
"Using yourself as bait to lure out Qi Xianlin was one thing, and diving into the river to hunt down King Jiang was another. Now, you even want to expose your ability to extract the true intent of the Celestial Dao Maps just to overturn a verdict and bring down Prince Qi.
"You must always remember that your own safety is the most important thing, no matter what.
"I cannot be by your side at all times."
His father’s expression remained as calm as his tone. However, Zeng Anmin pressed his lips tightly together before breaking into a wide, silent smile. He nodded gently. "I know."
"Emperor Xi’s Map..." His father slowly looked up, his eyes flickering with reminiscence as his voice grew cold. "After Yin Wu wiped out the demons, the person who returned to raid Earl Zhongyuan’s estate was none other than the newly appointed Commander of the North Imperial City Department at the time—Prince Qi."
