Chapter 76 - Recruiting People
The difference in skills was painfully clear to the audience. Lan Rou fixed his eyes towards the three arrows with disbelief. He had seen it by himself how the young boy fired the three of them at almost the same time.
Because the location of each target was far, Lan Rou was forced to fire them one by one. However, in front of him was someone who can fire at three locations with great precision all at once.
Lan Rou felt cold sweat running down his back. How could there be someone as skilled as this little boy? Even without anything to say, he had been thoroughly defeated.
Jun Hua didn't bother with him anymore and put the bow down. She walked steadily to her seat while the audience was still deeply mesmerized by that performance. When they came to, they started talking with each other about what had happened just now. It's impossible for something like that to be done by normal people.
"I wouldn't want to stand in front of you when you are holding an arrow," Yan said with a serious face.
"I won't fire any arrow to you anyway," Jun Hua replied with a chuckle.
Ming Hui shook her head. "You might want to someday."
"Do you want to kill me?" Yan yelled angrily.
As they were still immersed about what had just happened, Ming Kui's eyes locked on to the young general Jun Min. He knew that from the ease the boy showed, he didn't give his best. That one simple performance had shown him what the true skill of a general was.
"Your Highness?" Feeling the intense gaze of Ming Kui towards Jun Min, the servant could not help but prod the prince.
"If that boy didn't come from the Jun family, almost all of us would be dying to get him on our side. But, coming from that family, he would be a double-edged sword," Ming Kui said.
"How about General Soujin?"
"He's even more of an eyesore," Ming Kui said. "Don't judge him just from his usual calmness and frankness. There's more to that man than meets the eye."
"Yes Your Highness."
On the other side, Ming Gong revealed an expression of unwillingness. Given how highly talented Jun Min was, especially with his performance just now, he wanted to get this person by his side desperately. Having this person by his side, it would allow him to get a head start for the throne. However, it was impossible.
"Your Highness?"
"Such a good talent and yet he's only a piece of chess," Ming Gong snorted. As the most favored son, he knows very well what his father's intention was. How could he not possibly know the fate that awaits Jun Min? This was why he lamented a bit.
The attendant didn't say anything and listened to the words Ming Gong said carefully. This matter was highly sensitive as only the most trusted people on emperor's side knew his plan. Ming Gong had vaguely revealed to them a part of its contents which was very surprising. But they knew that as attendants, they had to keep their mouth shut. Else, their tiny lives would not be spared.
"Your brother is awesome! I think I have become his fans," Fan Lanying gushed excitedly.
Yamin who was posing as 'Jun Hua' let out a dry laugh. She could not answer that because she too had been admiring her Miss for a long time. She was the little girl who has skills more than ordinary people.
After Lan Rou experienced such loss, he didn't have the face to continue standing on the stage, hence retreated back to his chair. Because of what had happened just now, he would surely get a beating from his father. He was unwilling, but the fact had shown him how his meager skill was nothing compared to the other party's.
After the martial arts, there were people who wanted to raise challenge in terms of scholarly skills. Many of them tried to challenge each other, but there were also some people who wanted to challenge teachers. One of them was Xuan Pei.
"What a courageous student, does he think he can beat that top scorer?" Yan snorted.
Jun Hua nodded. There was no way an ordinary student to beat up Xuan Pei in terms of knowledge. That man did not get the title of top scorer for nothing.
Their prediction came true. The essay Xuan Pei presented was far more concrete and useful compared to the one the student made. With that, it became clearer that Xuan Pei was far smarter than what he usually was showing.
"With such a talent, what a shame that he only became a teacher," Yan sighed.
Soujin studied that man carefully. "He will not always be a teacher."
"What are you, a prophet?" chided Yan.
Jun Hua looked towards Xuan Pei with interest. Just what made Soujin hate this man very much? It took her a longer time to understand the reason.
"I see now… Soujin is right," Jun Hua raised her head. "He will not stay as a teacher in the long run."
"Can both of you tell me what is going on?" Yan felt like he was about to go crazy with these two. Just what made them see that man as someone dangerous?
Ming Hui also didn't understand. "Maybe, being too smart?"
"How could it possibly make the two of them hate him so much? You're being unreasonable," Yan grumbled.
Ming Hui shrugged and took her cup elegantly before sipping it. Yan rolled his eyes. Do you need to keep on acting? Oh, I forgot. This is a public place.
On the side, Ming Kui looked at that scholar with smile. "I want him."
"Yes?"
"Prepare everything needed. I want him among my people."
"It shall be done according to Your Highness."
That way, Xuan Pei would not remain a teacher anymore.
