Chapter 93 – Florida Man Defeats Horse in Sprinting. Horse Racing Associations Invalid the Race as Florida Man Used Firearms
After the pony stampede, cockatrices and other harmful beasts fled from the area. Gao Yan and Wu Buyi no longer sensed any hostile entity around them.
Leo was also relieved. He rode Taxi east, heading to the tall pagoda on the horizon.
Because Taxi was a big horse, Leo found it difficult to saddle him properly. Thus, he stood on Taxi’s back, using him as a living skateboard. It was bumpy and hard to balance at first, but Leo quickly adapted to the rhythm.
Taxi was wild. He always charged directly toward trees and rammed them down. Tall plants fell upon impact while some broke in half. Because of the debris and broken trees, Leo deflected random pieces of wood that came his way.
Although Taxi was fast, Leo was disappointed in the pony’s speed. Compared to his sprint and leap, the horse was a lot slower than him. Had Leo seriously traveled toward the pagoda, he could have arrived in a few seconds. However, Taxi charged through the woods for a minute, but they were just halfway there.
“You’re slow,” Leo complained.
“Smash?!”
Taxi widened his eyes as he was offended. Then, he snorted and began allocating lightning Qi into the hooves.
BOOM
A second later, Taxi ascended and ran in midair. His speed tripled and left behind sonic boom shockwaves.
Leo sighed and lowered his stance as the wind almost blew him backward. Although Taxi tried, The pony was still below his standard.
“If you want to show off, make sure you surpass this speed. Remember this well.”
Leo decided to show him what the real speed looked like. He jumped off the horseback and landed in the jungle below.
Feeling lightened, Taxi turned around and looked at Leo, wondering what his virgin yang Qi factory was doing.
BOOM
In one kick, Leo shuttled at 20 degrees angle, flying like a cannonball being shot from Death Star. His entire being transformed into a streak of light, surpassing the speed of light.
“SMASH!?”
Because of the sudden acceleration, Taxi was caught off guard. He was knocked back by the blasting shockwaves from Leo’s kicking power. Moreover, the place where Leo had landed earlier exploded, and a large crater was left behind.
While standing in midair, the unicorn stared at the crater in shock. Then, he looked at Leo in a new light.
Among unicorns, there was a tradition. Among male unicorns, their social status was determined by their muscle and their speed. Whoever ran the fastest got to reproduce while the slower ones would never find mates.
Taxi was considered one of the strongest and fastest unicorns among the herd. Female unicorns usually offered themselves to him, and everybody called him the herd’s alpha. But after witnessing Leo’s serious speed, Taxi got humbled.
“SMASH!”
Unicorns were simple creatures. Aside from their weird fetishes and obsession with virgins, they were quick to bow down their heads to the strong. Taxi acknowledged Leo as the new alpha of the herd, and he chased after him.
.
.
RUMBLE
A few seconds later, Leo traveled 500 kilometers and flew over the town of a hundred tall pagodas. Because Leo couldn’t fly, he couldn’t change the flight course. His head smashed against one of the buildings and broke it in half.
Because of the collision, Leo managed to slow down and landed in the middle of the town. Upon landing on a stone road, he caused a small crater.
RUMBLE
Leo didn’t get a chance to admire the city. The broken pagoda earlier fell upon him as if it wanted revenge.
BOOM
Brown and black metals, planks, lumber, and random objects filled the stone road, burying Leo alive. The deafening impact caused the ground to shake, and many buildings trembled.
Two minutes later, Taxi arrived at the crash site. It followed Leo’s scent and landed on the pile of debris.
“Smash?’
Using his front hooves, Taxi stomped the mountain of debris. Then, a thundercloud was formed at the bottom of the debris and launched a reverse lightning bolt, shooting into the sky.
BOOM
Everything in the 100-meter-diameter was sent to the sky because of Taxi’s stomp. Even a portion of the stone road and its foundation erupted. Taxi then looked up, searching for Leo. He quickly found the old man among the broken bricks and burning pieces of wood.
“That wasn’t necessary. I was chilling and playing with some weird metal plate.”
Floating in the sky because of Taxi’s reverse lightning bolt was Leo. He was holding a round green gong with a rain dragon carving, which had fallen from the broken pagoda tower. Surrendering to gravity, Leo descended and landed on two feet while his back was straightened. Again, he created another small crater upon landing.
Leo put the gong on top of his head. A few seconds later, debris that Taxi blasted upward earlier rained upon them.
GONG
GONG
Hard objects hit the gong, echoing a vibrating sound wave. However, it was not a normal sound wave.
Leo raised his eyebrows while Taxi flinched. The sound waves disturbed their bodily balance. Taxi’s internal Qi temporarily stopped responding to his will. As for Leo, he was slightly annoyed as the sound tickled his eardrums. He picked his ears and scooped out a small piece of earwax. As usual, he inspected it up close, sniffed it, and put it in his mouth.
DING
<Your lifespan has increased by 1 year.>
When civilization is lost, be a monke – Leo.
When everything was over, Leo lowered his gong and patted off the dust. He then turned around and looked at Taxi, who was still shaken by the gong’s sound.
Noticing Taxi’s condition, Leo snickered, “I guess I score a rare item or something. If you are in that state, this thing might be too dangerous for humans.”
Taxi repeatedly nodded as it hated the sound. He even got dizzy after hearing the noise.
Leo stopped chatting with Taxi and checked the other pagodas. There were small and big ones, but most of them were at least 20 stories high. As being surrounded by tall buildings blocked their vision range, Leo jumped and landed on the rooftop of a building to expand his view.
When Leo got on top of a 50-story pagoda, the building zapped him with a purple lightning bolt. He grinned and welcomed the attack with open arms.
DING
<Your lifespan has increased by 256 years…>
“Thanks for the bonus.”
After zapping Leo once, the tower stopped attacking him. Leo pursed his lips in disappointment. Then, he turned his attention to the pagoda town.
Aside from the building that he stood on, there were other taller towers. The tallest structure shot up to the sky and penetrated the clouds. Moreover, it was wider and larger than the rest as its foundation was larger than a NASCAR stadium.
“Smash!”
Taxi also came up and looked at the tallest building. He pointed to the tower, hinting to Leo that the Rabbit Trent was in the tower.
Noticing the gesture, Leo made his decision.
“Okay. Let’s climb the tower.”
“SMASH!”
Both man and unicorn leaped from the building, flying toward the tower.
.
.
Meanwhile, Hua Jiashan and Dongfang Mei were still inside the tallest pagoda. They reached the 100th floor, but they hadn’t reached the top yet. Moreover, they panted as they found it hard to move forward.
Hua Jiashan gave in to the suppressive force of the tower first. He sat at the foot of a unicorn statue on the 100th floor, catching his breaths and recuperating. As for Dongfang Mei, she sighed and rested in her wheelchair.
“I guess this is our limit,” Dongfang Mei lamented.
“Probably. This floor depletes our physical strength and suppresses fire, water, wind, earth, metal, and wood element Qi. Unless we master the lightning element Qi, we can’t proceed.”
Hua Jiashan gazed at the floor tiles, which emitted electric currents. It kept zapping them, but they weren’t in danger as the voltage was mild.
As they couldn’t go further, they decided to cultivate the lightning element Qi in the tower. Both Hua Jiashan and Dongfang Mei closed their eyes and meditated.
Meditation sometimes made one forget about time. They lost count of how long they meditated in the tower.
BOOM
Fortunately, one loud noise woke them up from their trance. They stood up and looked at each other.
“What’s the noise?”
“Let’s take a look.”
Hua Jiashan pushed the wheelchair to the west window of the tower. Then, they noticed that one of the pagodas below crumbled. They gazed at the collapsed building in confusion.
“Are test towers supposed to be fragile?” Asked Hua Jiashan.
“A 20-floor tower is as strong as a soul formation cultivator’s physique. You can’t simply destroy it without being retaliated by the killing arrays or protective arrays of the tower.”
“Yeah, that’s what I thought. But…”
They continued to observe the collapsed tower. Two minutes later, another loud boom surprised them. After the thunderous noise, a reverse lightning bolt shot up to the sky, carrying debris and burning wood high.
Among the debris, there was a person.
“Hmm?!”
Hua Jiashan had good eyesight. He noticed a man that he knew.
“Daoist Florida Man?!”
Dongfang Mei was surprised, “Someone you know?”
“Yes,” Hua Jiashan broke a sweat. He didn’t expect to see the rumored immortal here, “He’s a quasi-immortal that I talked about. He has been helping my sect and took in some of my disciples under his wings.”
“Oh?” Dongfang Mei was interested. She wondered what kind of senior Leo was.
While listening to Hua Jiashan, Leo already descended and safely landed. A moment later, a vibrating sound wave hit both of them.
Upon hearing the sound wave, Hua Jiashan and Dongfang Mei instantly lost consciousness. As for the elders and disciples on the first floor, they also fainted.
Nobody got to witness that Leo would soon climb the tower.
.
.
A minute later, Leo arrived at the foot of the tallest pagoda. He looked up, wondering if he should take a shortcut and jump to the top.
“Smash-Smash?”
Taxi pointed at the entrance. The steel bars slowly parted, opening a way for them to enter the tower.
Leo shrugged. He didn’t think much.
“Mortal Kombat style tower climbing? Well, why not?”
