Fleeing from Konoha

Chapter 1268: Trap_3

  • Next Chapter

A shadow emerged from a dark corner, cloaked entirely beneath a black hooded robe, with rainwater dripping from the brim onto the sunglasses.

Aburame Ryuma had one hand in his pocket, while his other extended outward, with black insects crawling on his fingers, causing Funato to show a terrified expression.

“You…”

Recalling the past negotiations with Kanzo and Konoha, as a veteran Jonin, his information must have already reached the Konoha intelligence system, making an assassination inevitable.

After all, the ninjas of the Aburame Clan are the type he hates facing the most.

The insects controlled by this clan integrate attack, defense, medical treatment, reconnaissance, and assassination.

In situations where the enemy is unguarded, the Insect Secret Jutsu of the Aburame Clan is the most terrifying preemptive assassination technique.

“Damn it! It’s a Konoha Ninja!”

Funato realized his body couldn’t move, watching Aburame Ryuma approach step by step with a hateful expression.

Aburame Ryuma came before Funato, squatted down slowly, and began searching Funato’s Ninja Tool Bag.

Scroll, Explosive Tag, Kunai, and a gold edition of the “Icha Icha Paradise” novel.

“…”

Aburame Ryuma was slightly speechless.

The intelligence was wrong, this guy is not only a smoker but also a lecher.

Sannin Jiraiya is indeed a widely renowned figure, and if possible, Aburame Ryuma would prefer for this Sannin to have a more positive influence.

“I would never carry important intelligence on me. Besides, interrogation won’t work on me; I would never betray the village’s information. Give up!”

Funato knew his odds of survival were bleak, but he still said this with stout courage.

Aburame Ryuma stood up, slowly shook his head.

“In that case, I don’t need your answer, as the insects will give me the correct one. This is my carefully cultivated Brain-eating Worm, also known as the Memory Worm. It will devour your brain while obtaining your memories.”

From the neckline of his clothing, a milky-white worm crawled out and manifested on Aburame Ryuma’s neck, its wings unfolded, flying freely amidst the rain, landing on Funato’s forehead.

Funato felt a tingling sensation from his forehead, something writhing at the location, followed by a sharp pain as something burrowed under his skin; he felt a chill through his body, despair washing over his eyes.

“Rest assured, you will die painfully, but you won’t utter a sound.”

Aburame Ryuma’s indifferent gaze fell upon Funato through his sunglasses, delivering this cold-hearted promise.

Funato had no strength to struggle, sensing a heavy consciousness, presumably due to the Brain-eating Worm starting its operation.

Dying from having his brain consumed made Funato feel both unfamiliar and deeply uneasy. The manner of his death must certainly be hideous.

At this moment, lights flickered in the rain, slender needles flew through the air, shooting at Aburame Ryuma.

Aburame Ryuma swiftly retreated, evading the surprise attack of the needles.

By the time he settled his position and looked up, Funato lying on the ground had vanished, whereabouts unknown.

“Escaped, did he? However…”

Silent purple-shelled insects flew through the air to guide Aburame Ryuma’s path forward.

“You, you are…”

Funato struggled to speak, looking at the person who saved him with confusion.

The figure wore a rain-proof straw coat, red and white fabrics faintly visible, dressed as a witch.

“I am the Wandering Witch from the Land of Demons, at your Leader’s request, dealing with enemies infiltrating Hidden Rain Village.”

The Wandering Witch said softly.

“Is, is that so?”

Though Funato didn’t entirely trust her, her act of saving him was undeniable.

“Please don’t move around, I’ll help you extract the worm.”

The Wandering Witch’s voice was calm, as if nothing could disrupt her composure.

A green light enveloped her right palm, gently pressed against Funato’s forehead as Chakra began to penetrate.

Funato endured the intense pain, felt something crawling inside his brain.

His body twisted and twitched, overwhelmed by agony, wanting to scream, but in venting this torment found his throat hoarse, unable to make any sound; he could only curl up, enduring this inhuman suffering.

“Ah!”

Finally managing to vocalize, Funato gasped heavily as the abnormal sensation in his brain vanished, the Brain-eating Worm extracted.

“Thank you.”

Weakly, Funato managed to say, vision darkening, fainting away.

“So, this is…”

The Wandering Witch stood up, beginning to speak before suddenly feeling a pain in her right palm, her expression shifting as she turned over her hand, revealing a pinhole-sized wound with something burrowing in.

“I see, a chain trap, is it?”

Seemingly realizing something, the Wandering Witch frowned.

“Indeed, though I didn’t expect you to be drawn out. Unexpected but fortunate gain, I’d say.”

The cool voice rang out from behind, Aburame Ryuma stood there silently, unnoticed.

“Oh dear, it seems I’ve been quite careless.”

The Wandering Witch’s face showed a strained smile, chastising herself for negligence.

“Looks like not only can I get Hidden Rain’s intel this time but also gain intel on the Land of Demons. You escaped last time, Witch, but I won’t let you escape this time. I’ll unravel all your secrets.”
