Chapter 1313: Chapter 1312: Targeted Arson Case
Seeing her father like this, Nia Mitchell lowered her head as well.
"Aldy Mitchell’s leg still hasn’t fully healed."
Maxwell Peary looked at Nia’s father and said this.
Hearing that, Nia’s father was stunned for a moment.
This Young Master Peary from Capital Town, who looked so cold and distant, was trying to tell him that even if he didn’t eat, Aldy Mitchell still had to eat, right?
Thinking of that, Nia’s father felt very relieved.
At least this showed that Young Master Peary would genuinely treat his daughter well.
"Aldy, let’s go. Dad will take you out for some breakfast."
As he spoke, he helped her into the wheelchair.
"Maxwell, I’ll have to trouble you to keep an eye on things here."
Aldy Mitchell looked at Maxwell Peary, who had been standing there with a completely blank expression, and spoke in a very quiet voice.
Seeing him give an almost imperceptible nod, Aldy finally felt at ease and left.
"Uncle, should we go talk to the Doctor to find out what’s going on now?"
She still hadn’t woken up all this time; just looking at her made it feel very serious.
"Sit down first. Don’t forget you’re injured too."
Maxwell Peary wrapped an arm around her waist, lifted her up, and gently set her down on the sofa.
"You sit here for now. I’ll go contact the director."
Nia Mitchell immediately nodded.
Thankfully she still had him. Otherwise, the moment this happened, she would definitely have panicked.
Maxwell Peary soothed her with a light kiss to her forehead, then turned and left the ward.
Once he walked out of the ward, he finally pulled out the phone that had been vibrating nonstop in his pocket.
"Hello?"
"Boss, this fire wasn’t an accident."
Owen Lewis frowned as he looked at the investigation report he’d obtained.
But the fire was disguised too well. The police report later will probably say it was accidental.
"Arson?"
Maxwell Peary froze for a second, clearly finding it hard to believe.
If it was arson, then this matter was a bit serious.
If it was targeted arson...
Thinking that, Maxwell’s brows knitted tighter and tighter.
"I still haven’t found the mastermind. The other side is hiding too deep, but I can be sure this arson was aimed at Molly Harguez."
It’s just not clear whether Molly Harguez has enemies, or whether she got caught up in this because of Young Master Peary.
These days, people can have all kinds of twisted thoughts.
Maybe someone thinks Nia Mitchell is a Mistress, thinks her mother isn’t a good person either, and decided to set a fire.
But it could also be one of Maxwell Peary’s enemies, someone who can’t get at Maxwell himself but can find easier targets.
"You must find out who ordered it. If you can’t, hand this over to Annie Davidson’s side."
Hearing Maxwell Peary mention Annie Davidson again, Owen Lewis’s heart suddenly clenched, a sharp pain spreading through his whole body.
He didn’t know what was wrong with him lately. It was like he’d come down with some illness—just hearing the words "Annie Davidson" made his whole body hurt.
"Got it."
After hanging up, Owen Lewis sat in the Office Room at the Black Market and lit a cigarette.
The thin white smoke curled upward, as if it could sketch out a dream in an instant and draw a person deep into it.
Taking a hard drag, Owen Lewis reached for his phone and dialed Annie Davidson’s number.
At that moment, Annie Davidson was lying in a ward at the Hospital, her complexion even worse than before.
Her right hand was hooked up to an IV drip, and she felt drowsy and groggy.
Hearing her phone ring, she blearily answered it without even looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?"
