Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 380: Don’t Let Mom Disappointed
James did not understand why his mother was so anxious, but when he saw her leaving so lonely, he felt extremely guilty.
He shouldn’t have lost his temper just now.
He wanted to catch up with his mother and explain it to her, but he didn’t know what to say.
Finally, he could only give up on the idea. He turned around to return to the room, but saw Yvonne standing at the door.
His heart sank.
"Yvonne... When did you come out?"
Yvonne stood there. When she heard his question, she slowly said, "I heard everything."
Hearing her words, James scratched his head in embarrassment.
"Yvonne, you... don’t get me wrong, my mom..."
"James," Yvonne interrupted, "let’s go back to the room first."
She turned around and walked into the room.
Only then did James realize that he was still in the corridor, so he quickly followed her.
After returning to the room, neither of them spoke first.
One was standing, the other was sitting. They looked at each other, as if waiting for the other to speak first.
After maintaining this state for a while, James could not help but break the silence.
He said, "Yvonne, don’t misunderstand. My mother just wants to have her grandson.
It’s no big deal."
He explained hurriedly, afraid that she would misunderstand him, but the more anxious he was, the more incoherent he became.
Yvonne answered slightly, "I know."
There was not much emotion on her face.
She spoke so calmly that James felt even more flustered.
After all, if she was angry, he could still coax her.
But now, she said it so calmly. He didn’t know what she was thinking.
Thinking of this, he slowly walked forward and sat down on the sofa in front of her. After a moment of hesitation, he said, "What do you think?"
She paused for a while and said, "Continue taking the medicine."
"Huh?"
James was shocked. He stared at her face, his eyes full of surprise.
<She clearly knows that the soup is prepared for pregnant women, and we have never lived as husband and wife. There would be no effect even if she drinks it, but she insists on drinking it. What exactly is she thinking?>
Yvonne noticed his confusion and said, "Actually, I already knew what these medicines are for, but I still chose to drink them. Do you know why?"
James did not respond.
<How could I not know that it is because of your kindness? That is why I feel guilty.>
With these thoughts in mind, he slowly lowered his head.
Seeing that he was silent, she continued, "I don’t want mom to be disappointed."
As she spoke, she slowly stood up, walked to the window, and looked out of the window at the night sky. She said, "The Taylors is big and prosperous, and now the business is even more prosperous. Therefore, there is no need for you to work hard on your career. Then, there is only one task left on you. Give birth to a child who can inherit the family’s property. Am I right?"
She looked at him.
Only then did James slowly raise his head. He admitted that she was right.
That was indeed what his mother thought.
He nodded slowly.
She continued, "I’m afraid mom has already expressed her wish before you got married."
He nodded again.
"That’s right." Yvonne smiled as if a heavy burden had been lifted from her shoulders.
She wanted to say these words to him a long time ago, but she had never found a chance.
...
<Just imagine, an ordinary family is eager to have a baby, let alone a family like the Taylors. I understood Mrs. Taylor from the first time I saw her.>
She paused and continued, "There’s nothing wrong with mom’s idea, but what do you think?"
She looked at James.
Hearing what she said, James was stunned for a moment and then said, "I... don’t have any ideas."
His tone was slightly hesitant.
Yvonne stared at him. Although his head was lowered and she couldn’t see his expression at this time, she could tell that he wasn’t telling the truth.
She paused for a bit and continued, "Since that’s the case, then forget about it." As she was about to leave, she was stopped by James. "Yvonne, I..." James hesitantly said.
Yvonne stared at him and waited for him to speak his mind. After waiting for a while, she received no reply, then she said, "I know that you care about my thoughts, but we are husband and wife. I admit that I had plans when I married you, but I am not the kind of person who only wants to do things for my own benefit. Since we are married, I will fulfill my duty, including giving birth to a child."
However, her words stunned James. He slowly raised his head to look at her, his eyes full of unspeakable bitterness.
"So, is giving birth just a duty for you?"
He slowly stood up, and an indescribable anger surged in the bottom of his heart.
Only then did she realize that she had made a mistake. She wanted to explain, but James spoke before she could. "If it was for duty, I would rather not."
He looked sad, and there was obviously suppressed anger in his tone.
Yvonne was a little flustered.
"I... I didn’t mean that."
She wanted to explain, but when she met his eyes, she didn’t know what to say for a moment.
The atmosphere seemed to be slightly heavy.
James stood there silently for a long time before saying, "Yvonne, you don’t have to worry about that. I’ve already thought it through when I married you. Even if you won’t fall in love with me for the rest of your life, I could accept that fact, so you
don’t have to force yourself."
With that, he turned around and slowly walked out of the bedroom.
The figure appeared exceptionally lonely.
Yvonne felt her heart freeze. She wanted to chase after him, but she realized that she had lost the best opportunity to explain herself. She was afraid that he would not believe her no matter what she said.
Thinking of this, she was extremely upset.
<I didn’t mean that. I wanted to tell him that I am willing to give birth, but for some reason, my mouth becomes so stupid. I am so stupid that I couldn’t even make myself understood.>
The more she thought about it, the more annoyed she became.
However, James no longer gave her the chance to explain.
That night, he slept on the sofa in the living room.
Yvonne felt bad, but she did not explain anymore.
Thus, one of them slept in the bedroom while the other slept in the living room. Each slept the night with their own thoughts.
Early the next morning, when Yvonne woke up, James was already gone.
She thought he was downstairs, but when she went downstairs after washing up, she was told by Mrs. Taylor that James had already gone to the company.
<This is the first time we have clashed after marriage.
He didn’t wait for me and went to the company first. Doesn’t he want to see me?>
...
Just as Yvonne was thinking about it, Mrs. Taylor walked over and asked with concern when she saw her expression. "Yvonne, are you feeling unwell today? Why do you look so pale?"
Only then did Yvonne come back to her senses. She quickly hid the expression on her face and said, "Maybe I didn’t sleep well last night."
Mrs. Taylor said, "I see. Then don’t go to the company today."
Yvonne nodded absent-mindedly.
<Anyway, James doesn’t want to see me. I’d better not annoy him.>
After breakfast, Yvonne returned to the bedroom.
After staying in the bedroom for a while, she found nothing to do and couldn’t calm down, so she went downstairs again.
When she went downstairs, she saw Mrs. Taylor fiddling with the bouquet in the living room. She walked up to her and asked, "Mom, are you arranging flowers? Can I learn from you?"
"Of course."
Mrs. Taylor was happy to have her.
Then, the two got busy around a bunch of flowers.
Soon, the beautiful flower arrangement was complete.
While Mrs. Taylor was happily admiring their masterpiece, she recalled what had happened last night. She glanced at her daughter-in-law and asked in a roundabout manner, "Yvonne, what do you think of James?"
"Huh?"
Yvonne was admiring the beautiful bouquet when she heard this question. She paused for a moment before answering, "He is pretty good."
"Then... after marriage, did you feel anything unharmonious?"
Mrs. Taylor was afraid that she could not understand, so she added, "I mean, what’s the difference between before and after marriage? Hasve he disappointed you?"
Yvonne could read between the lines.
In fact, although she didn’t hear all of what Mrs. Taylor and James had said outside the door last night, she heard most of it.
She paused for a bit and continued, "No, we are all fine."
Hearing this, Mrs. Taylor relaxed considerably.
Although she felt uncomfortable after being rebuked by her son last night, she felt
nevertheless worried about them. Thus, she thought to seek confirmation from her daughter-in-law.
At this time, after hearing the answer, she immediately relaxed.
However, she didn’t expect that her worries had been solved but Yvonne began to worry.
Yvonne thought, "An entire morning has passed and I am wondering how James is doing."
At this time, in the president’s office of the Taylor Corporation, the atmosphere was so cold.
James was sitting in front of his desk, exuding a chilling aura. No one dared to approach him.
"Redo it. How could this kind of idiotic document be also sent to me? How did you review it?"
As soon as he finished speaking, a thick stack of documents fell to the ground.
Hammer stood there, trembling with fear.
<Although Mr. Taylor is usually strict with us, I have never experienced such a scene. He keeps serious for the entire morning. I couldn’t even know how many documents he has rejected.>
"I’m sorry, Mr. Taylor. I’ll take it back and start over right away."
Hammer picked up the document from the ground in a hurry. Not daring to stay a moment longer, he fled the office with the document in his arms.
When he went out, he immediately closed the door and patted his chest in a panic.
"That was close, I nearly lost my life."
"Hammer, is Mr. Taylor inside?"
As Hammer was just about to return to his seat, he ran into Yvonne, who was walking towards him.
He immediately felt that he grabbed onto a life-saving straw.
