Yvonne could not conceal her laughter. "Then I’ll try my best to keep it up."

As the two of them talked and laughed, their wontons were served.

James did not know much about street food, so he followed whatever she did.

The duo devoured their meal in no time.

When they left the stall, James felt a little unsatisfied. But when he thought of the other delicious street food awaiting him, he suppressed the impulse to order another bowl.

The two of them paid and left the stall.

"What other delicious food are we eating next?"

James asked with great interest.

Yvonne was walking in front of him. When she heard his question, she turned around in confusion and asked, "You’re still hungry?"

James felt a little embarrassed by her response. After all, he had shown his detest for food stalls earlier.

"Of course... I’m full! I was just worried that you’re still hungry."

He scratched his head while coming up with an answer.

Yvonne was kind and did not expose him.

"It’s time for us to go home."

"Go home? It’s still early." James frowned and looked at the time.

"Did you really think that we’re gonna hang out the whole day?"

Yvonne questioned.

James was confused. "Wait...we’re not?"

Yvonne was speechless. She thought to herself, "What a total block of wood! Didn’t he see how upset Mom was?"

She felt helpless.

However, she reminded herself that she was after all, a man. It was normal for him to be short-sighted. Hence, she pointed out, "Mom is in a bad mood. We should go back earlier to accompany her."

Only then did James remember it. However, there were still some doubts in his heart.

"What’s wrong with Mom today? Why is she suddenly in a bad mood?"

Yvonne shook her head and said, "I don’t know either."

She had not interacted with Mrs. Taylor for long, so she did not know her personality well enough to make a judgment.

James asked, "Do you think something happened at the temple?"

Yvonne nodded. "That could be the case. By the way, do you know what’s on her mind recently?"

Hearing the question, James thought of something. He looked at her thoughtfully and said, "There is something...but it’s a little difficult to deal with."

He answered in distress.

"What’s so difficult? Tell."

A sparkle flew across his eyes at her words. He looked at her and spoke hesitantly, "Speaking of which, I need your help on this matter."

Yvonne was an impatient person. When she saw that he was keeping her on her toes, she became a little frustrated. "What do you want to say exactly?"

She started rushing him.

James then pretended to be hesitant and said, "Forget it, I shouldn’t tell you. You might not be able to help anyways."

He sighed seemingly unintentionally.

At that moment, Yvonne became annoyed.

"Whatever, I don’t want to hear it anymore!"

She scoffed, turned around and was about to leave, but was stopped by James just in time. "Alright, alright, don’t be mad! I’ll tell you, okay?"

Only then did Yvonne stop and glare at him angrily.

He hesitated for a moment before saying, "My mother seems to be very eager to have a grandson. Why don’t you help me fulfill her wish?"

After he finished speaking, he pretended to look away unintentionally.

Meanwhile, Yvonne was dumbfounded. It took her a while to realize that he was setting her up.

She said helplessly, "Be serious. I’m being legit!"

"Me too!"

...

He looked very serious.

Yvonne froze in shock.

She did not know if he was being sincere or it if was a joke.

But she did think about the bowl of medicine that Mrs. Taylor gave to them the night before.

Although James did not specify the benefits of the medicine back then, it was not difficult for her to guess it now. She was trying to increase their fertility!

It seemed that this was really Mrs. Taylor’s intention.

However, just given their current relationship status, it was most likely impossible to satisfy her wish.

Thinking of this, she felt a little guilty.

James stared at her face and realized something was amiss. He quickly added, "I’m just kidding!"

Hearing his response, Yvonne looked up at him.

She did not know if he was really joking, but she knew that Mrs. Taylor must have had this idea.

She paused and said, "Let’s go."

Then, she turned and walked to the roadside.

James stared at her back and felt a little frustrated. If he had known earlier, he would not have made such a joke.

He caught up with her in no time.

Then, the two hailed a taxi and got in.

When the two of them returned back home, they did not see Mrs. Taylor in the living room. There were only a few servants cleaning the place.

James walked towards them and asked, "Where’s my Mom?"

One of them pointed towards the direction of the bedroom and said, "Madam didn’t seem to be in a good mood today. She hasn’t eaten much for lunch."

James became worried, as shown by his expression.

He looked at Yvonne and said, "I’m going to check on Mom. Go ahead and take a rest first."

She nodded. She turned around and was just about to go up the stairs when she thought of something and said, "Remember to be patient."

"I will."

After watching her go upstairs, he then walked toward Mrs. Taylor’s bedroom.

He stopped in front of the door and knocked.

"Mom, are you asleep? I’m coming in."

He opened the door and walked in.

The curtains were drawn, and the light was dim. He vaguely saw a figure sitting beside the bed.

He paused for a moment before walking over. Seeing that it was her, he stopped momentarily in his tracks. A few moments later, he walked to the window and drew the curtains. The room instantly brightened.

However, Mrs. Taylor blocked her eyes from the glare and said, "Why are you drawing the curtains?"

He stepped forward and said, "The sun is bright today. It’s good to have some sun."

He pulled out a chair and sat down in front of her. "Mom, do you have something on your mind today?"

Hearing this, she looked up at him. After a moment of hesitation, she replied, "No, I’m fine."

"No? But it’s all written on your face."

After being exposed, Mrs. Taylor became impatient. "What do you know? Can’t I have some emotions?"

"Of course you can, but you can also talk to me. It’s not good to hold it in."

She frowned. "That’s enough. If you really want to make me happy, give me a grandchild now!"

At that moment when she mentioned it, he became speechless.

"Mom, why are you bringing this up again? Didn’t I tell you already? We just got married and we still want to spend time with one another."

However, Mrs. Taylor scoffed. "You can have your world of two after giving birth too!"

"Mom..."

"All right, you can leave now. I’m going to rest."

Mrs. Taylor chased him out.

He looked as she started lying down and he said helplessly, "Have a good rest. Call me if you need anything."

He got up and walked towards the door.

After he left, Mrs. Taylor got up slowly. When he disappeared from her sight, she let out a deep sigh.

When James returned to his bedroom, Yvonne had just gotten out of the bathroom and had changed into a casual wear.

...

Seeing him come in, she asked, "How is Mom?"

James looked away from her, but his gaze was still sparkling. He said, "Nothing much, she’s just tired. She’ll be fine after some rest."

Hearing his response, Yvonne did not continue asking.

When it was dinner time, Mrs. Taylor appeared at the dining table in her usual chit-chatty self. She seemed to be in a much better mood.

Yvonne felt assured now.

The next day, they went to work as usual.

As soon as James entered the office, he thought of something. "By the way, there’s a banquet in the evening. Come with me."

"Me?"

Yvonne found it a little sudden.

James nodded.

"But I don’t know anything about your business stuff. Will I..."

"Don’t worry. I’ll be there, I won’t need you to do that."

Hearing his comfort, Yvonne nodded and agreed. "Alright then."

In order to prepare for the banquet, Yvonne went to the mall in the afternoon.

She picked out a black evening gown. When she took out her wallet to pay for the bill, she happened to see the credit card that Mrs. Taylor had pushed to her previously.

After some slight hesitation, she handed over the card.

Even though she could afford this dress herself, she had to take into account for Mrs.

Taylor’s feelings.

After she paid the bill and walked out of the mall with her dress, she received a call from James. "You bought your dress?"

Yvonne replied, "I’m heading back now."

"Okay, I’ll pick you up later."

Yvonne nodded and hung up the phone as she walked towards the car.

When she arrived home, it was still quite early, so she went to the bedroom to take a shower. As soon as she changed into her dress and was about to head out, someone knocked on the bedroom door.

She walked over and opened the door. When she saw Mrs. Taylor standing outside,

she immediately stepped aside. "Mom, please come in."

Mrs. Taylor walked in and scanned her from head to toe. "Are you going out?"

Yvonne nodded. Seeing that Mrs. Taylor was hesitant to speak, she asked, "Mom, why are you looking for me?"

Mrs. Taylor restrained her gaze. She paused for a moment before saying, "Nothing much. I heard the servants saying that you’re back, so I came up to take a look. By the way, I heard that you’ve been helping James at work recently."

Yvonne felt a little uncomfortable hearing her question, but she still nodded. "Yes."

"That’s good. James does need someone trustworthy at work. I can rest assured to leave him to you. But you don’t have to work too hard. Just take it as a joy ride."

Yvonne did not agree with Mrs. Taylor’s words. She was not there to play. She really wanted to do something for James.

"Mom, I’m not there to play. I really want to help James."

Hearing her response, Mrs. Taylor’s expression changed a little, but she quickly reverted it. "I know that you youngsters have your own ideas, but for us women, family is the most important thing."

Mrs. Taylor was obviously implying something.

Although Yvonne understood what was she was driving at, she chose not to argue with her. After all, it was perfectly understandable for her to have such a conventional idea.

Mrs. Taylor chatted with her for a while before leaving.

As soon as she left, James returned. His eyes lit up when he saw her outfit.

It was his first time seeing her in a gown. Needless to say, her figure was top-notch.

She was even more impressive than those supermodels.

However, her gown seemed a little too revealing...
