Chapter 898: 897 He just feels sorry for Ranran.
Mo Xiuchen’s gaze darkened as he lifted his foot and walked away.
“Xiuchen…”
Seeing him leave, Luo Haofeng’s face changed slightly as he called out, but Mo Xiuchen didn’t turn back, heading straight into a nearby ward.
Mo Xiuchen left so quickly that Shen Yuting, who had just found Gu Kai’s number, hadn’t even pressed the call button when she turned her head, her gaze following his silhouette until he entered the ward. Only then did she look down, her lowered eyes filled with intense sorrow.
She tightened her grip on her phone, staring at the screen, unsure whether to make the call or not.
Luo Haofeng furrowed his brows slightly and said indifferently, “Yuting, don’t be sad. Xiuchen must be concerned about Ranran being tired from sitting on a plane all day, and he wants to take her home to rest early. In Xiuchen’s eyes, the whole world isn’t as important as Ranran alone. If we were the ones disturbing him and Ranran tonight with a call, Xiuchen would surely hold a grudge against us…”
“Ah Feng, stop talking.”
Shen Yuting’s voice was soft yet filled with an inconsolable sadness. As soon as she finished speaking, her phone began to vibrate insistently in her hand.
Seeing the incoming call, she pursed her lips, pressed the answer button, and walked toward the elevator.
In the ward, Wen Ran sat on the edge of the bed, holding Tiantian. Seeing Mo Xiuchen enter, she smiled slightly and called out his name softly.
“Xiuchen.”
The moment Mo Xiuchen saw her, the handsome lines of his face softened unconsciously, and his lips curled up in an affectionate smile. He approached her, looked down, and his gaze swept over the tear-stained little girl she was holding.
Perhaps it was the overpowering presence of Mo Xiuchen or maybe it was Wen Ran’s soft call of ‘Xiuchen’ that caught the little girl’s attention. Her eyes shifted, slowly turning to look at Mo Xiuchen.
Mo Xiuchen’s smile deepened when he caught the little girl’s gaze. His eyes moved from the little girl’s face and settled on Wen Ran’s smiling eyes, the thoughts in his heart intensifying.
“Ranran, put her on the bed, and let’s go home.”
Zhou Lin immediately chimed in, “Ranran, give Tiantian to me. You must be tired too, hurry home, have dinner, and get some rest.”
Just now, she hadn’t wanted to disturb Wen Ran. Ever since Tiantian had fallen ill, there hadn’t been a day without cries, and as her mother, though she felt a heartbreaking pain each time, she knew that it was impossible for a child to not cry when getting shots.
Wen Ran, concerned about the injury on Mo Xiuchen’s arm, agreed with a ‘okay,’ handing Tiantian over to Zhou Lin. “You haven’t had dinner either, right? I’ll have someone bring you some food later. If anything happens to Tiantian, find a doctor immediately.”
Zhou Lin nodded, “Ranran, don’t worry about me, just hurry home. I’m not hungry, and I don’t feel like eating.”
The weight Zhou Lin had gained during her confinement was all gone in this past month, and now she was back to her slim figure. But the radiance on her face had faded, filled only with worry for her daughter, appearing extremely haggard.
“Ranran, you and Mo Xiuchen go ahead. I’ll go buy Zhou Lin something to eat in a bit,” Bai Xiaoxiao said as she looked at the tiny Tiantian in Zhou Lin’s arms and let out a soft sigh, consoling her, “Zhou Lin, even if you don’t feel like eating, you must eat. If you don’t take care of yourself, how will you take care of Tiantian?”
Wen Ran looked at Bai Xiaoxiao in surprise, “Xiaoxiao, aren’t you coming with us?”
“I wouldn’t dream of being a third wheel. You can leave Qing Feng and Qing Yang behind, and they can take me home later.” Bai Xiaoxiao teased with a smile, her gaze having never left Wen Ran since Mo Xiuchen entered the ward.
As Ranran’s best friend, she was already too busy creating opportunities for them to be alone together, how could she possibly become a third wheel, disturbing their world of two.
Mo Xiuchen seemed very pleased with Bai Xiaoxiao’s tactfulness, finally moving his gaze away from Wen Ran’s face, he glanced at Bai Xiaoxiao, “Qing Feng and Qing Yang were instructed by me to do something else, I’ll arrange another driver to take you back later.”
“Sure.”
Bai Xiaoxiao thought Mo Xiuchen was talking about Little Liu and just wanted him to take Ranran away quickly, so she agreed to his suggestion without hesitation.
Mo Xiuchen took Wen Ran’s hand, and they walked out of the hospital room. Not far away in the rest area, Luo Haoer and Mo Zixuan were still standing there, while Shen Yuting and the nurse who had been with her had already left.
“Mo Xiuchen, are you planning to have Luo Haofeng take Xiaoxiao home?”
Wen Ran tilted her face slightly upward, her eyes bright as she looked at Mo Xiuchen’s face brimming with a smiling expression.
Mo Xiuchen’s eyes twinkled with amusement as he said proudly, “Ranran, you know me best.”
Over there, Luo Haofeng, seeing only the two of them come out and glancing once more into the hospital room behind them, eventually couldn’t help himself and came over. He didn’t dare to look at Mo Xiuchen, but instead asked Wen Ran beside him, “Ranran, where’s Xiaoxiao, isn’t she going back?”
Wen Ran smiled faintly, “She’s worried about Zhou Lin being here alone, she wants to wait a little longer before leaving. If you’re not busy, please wait and take her home later.”
Wen Ran had seen Luo Haofeng’s affection for Bai Xiaoxiao.
If Xiaoxiao had lost her feelings for Luo Haofeng, she definitely wouldn’t have given them another chance, but even with someone like Meng Ke pursuing her, deep down, she still couldn’t let go of Luo Haofeng.
Luo Haofeng’s eyes brightened with joy, and a brilliant smile spread across his brow. He readily replied, “I’m free, you go ahead, I’ll take Xiaoxiao home later.”
After speaking, Luo Haofeng cautiously glanced at Mo Xiuchen, uncertain whether his defense of Shen Yuting just now had offended Mo Xiuchen once again.
Mo Xiuchen, aware of Luo Haofeng’s thoughts, returned his gaze coldly, but when he looked at Wen Ran, his eyes became gentle and doting again, “Ranran, let’s go.”
Wen Ran blinked, somewhat puzzled by what Mo Xiuchen’s gaze just then meant.
As they passed Mo Zixuan, Wen Ran paused.
Mo Zixuan had wanted to speak to Wen Ran but didn’t dare; seeing her stop, a hint of excitement appeared on his face as he nervously looked at her, “Ranran.”
Wen Ran pursed her lips, her voice coming out somewhat cold, “It’s been very hard for Zhou Lin to take care of Tiantian alone, she hasn’t been able to eat or sleep well this past month. If you’re willing, you could help alleviate some of her burden.”
Wen Ran didn’t press him to do anything, she was merely making a suggestion.
She knew that Mo Zixuan had been feeling guilty and was looking for a chance to apologize to her for his past mistakes. Even though she had been in D Country during this time, she had heard from both Mo Xiuchen and her brother that Mo Zixuan had changed a lot.
Almost without hesitation, Mo Zixuan nodded and promised, “Ranran, I will take up the responsibility of a father, thank you for taking care of Tiantian during this time.”
At this point, Mo Zixuan bit his lip tightly, his voice coming out a bit stiff and filled with a deep apology, “Ranran, about that incident, I’m sorry!”
