Chapter 2208: Chapter 12: Unless We Never Meet Again
Mo Ziye said he would take Qin Qingqing out for a stroll, not just as a casual remark.
As they walked out of the restaurant, he pulled her over and raised his hand to touch her forehead.
Qin Qingqing, slightly stiff, looked at him, “I don’t have a fever anymore, I don’t need to take medicine, right?”
“Mm, if you don’t want to take medicine, then don’t.”
Mo Ziye didn’t force her but instead held her hand as they walked towards the door.
“Brother Ziyi, let go, I can walk on my own.”
Qin Qingqing wasn’t used to being led like this. As she spoke, she struggled to free her hand from his grasp.
Mo Ziye glanced at her, as if to ensure she would follow, and only then released her hand, walking ahead.
Outside the living room, Qin Qingqing did not see Mo Ziye’s car outside or inside the villa.
Seeing him striding towards the gate of the villa, she couldn’t help but ask in confusion, “Didn’t you drive here?”
Mo Ziye, without turning his head, replied, “When have I ever driven such a short distance?”
Qin Qingqing pressed her lips together and didn’t continue speaking.
Although their two homes weren’t far apart, they weren’t particularly close either.
If walking, it would still take a good fifteen minutes.
The luxurious villa area was naturally quieter, and in this large villa complex, only a few families lived.
At night, it was even harder to see a single person.
When the wind blew past her ears, Mo Ziye stopped, looked at Qin Qingqing, who was always two steps behind, his dark eyes calm and gentle, “Cold?”
“Not cold.”
Qin Qingqing, though unsure of what she was thinking, still shook her head immediately after a second of pause.
Mo Ziye’s sensuous thin lips slightly pursed, and he stood there waiting for her to catch up before turning around, perhaps intentionally slowing his pace.
For the rest of the journey, the two walked side by side.
When they arrived at the Mo family’s house, they happened to encounter Momo returning. She flashed a look of surprise over Mo Ziye and Qin Qingqing, then greeted them with a smile, “Qingqing, didn’t Ziye say you had a cold and fever? How come you ran out?”
“Sister Momo, my fever has subsided.”
“Wait here, I’ll go get the car.”
After instructing Qin Qingqing, Mo Ziye entered the villa.
Seeing him walk away, Momo said apologetically, “Qingqing, I’m sorry.”
“Sister Momo, what are you apologizing for?”
Qin Qingqing looked at her in confusion.
Under the streetlight, Momo, whose face resembled her mother Wen Ran, carried a touch of guilt in her clear beauty, “I didn’t feel you had a fever when I touched your forehead in the afternoon. But later, Ziye called and scolded me, saying you had a fever, and I didn’t wake you.”
At the end, Momo slightly pouted.
Qin Qingqing looked at her in shock, “Sister Momo, you were at my house in the afternoon, I thought it was just a dream.”
“I was there, you were asleep, I called you twice… Qingqing, where are you and Ziye going?”
Momo was curious about how Qingqing and Ziye reconciled?
“Brother Ziye said G City has changed a lot and wants to take me for a walk. Sister Momo, do you have time now…”
“No, I have an appointment later.”
Before Qingqing could finish, Momo interrupted her.
She didn’t want to meddle in Ziye’s affairs and risk getting scolded.
That guy was not only overbearing but also quite annoying.
In the past, he disliked others meddling in Qingqing’s affairs, treating Qingqing as his possession. Although their situation was unknown now, Momo was scolded this afternoon.
With the thought that staying away from Qingqing was safer, she added, “Qingqing, wait for Ziye. I don’t know what’s going on, but my mom asked me to come back. I’ll be leaving soon.”
After saying this, she didn’t care about Qingqing and drove into the villa.
When Mo Ziye reversed the car out, Qin Qingqing was crouching under a magnolia tree, stacking a few fallen leaves.
The sound of the horn startled her, making her hands tremble, and the leaves she was holding fell to the ground.
She looked up at him, stood up, and only walked to the car after stepping on the few leaves she had just stacked together.
“Why haven’t you changed this habit?”
Mo Ziye turned slightly, looking at Qin Qingqing sitting safely in the passenger seat.
If there was anything she was passionately fond of besides eating, it was stepping on fallen leaves.
No matter where they went, if she saw fallen leaves, she would step on them, saying the sound was pleasing.
Qin Qingqing smiled a little bashfully. If he hadn’t come out so quickly, she would have stacked them thicker before stepping on them, “This is a hobby, not a bad habit. Why should I change it?”
Mo Ziye was amused by her words. He stepped on the accelerator, and the car drove smoothly into the night. His voice, carried by the autumn night wind, brushed past her ear, “Do you remember the time you fell into the pond because you were stepping on fallen leaves?”
Qin Qingqing slightly frowned, looking at him, “Of course, I remember. That time, I was startled by Brother Little Hui.”
If Zhang Minghui hadn’t said Brother Ziye was coming, she wouldn’t have lost balance and fallen into the pond.
Zhang Minghui tried to pull her but missed, and a few meters away, Mo Ziye ran over at top speed, but it was still slightly too late.
In the end, he jumped into the pond along with her…
Recalling the past, slight ripples spread across Qin Qingqing’s heart. There were too many memories between them.
Unless they never see each other again, any casual word or incident could remind them of the past they experienced together.
In the driver’s seat, Mo Ziye’s dark eyes were tinged with warmth. His deep, magnetic voice sounded, “If you hadn’t sneaked chocolate, why would Zhang Minghui have startled you?”
Qin Qingqing blinked lightly.
Looking at Mo Ziye’s handsome and gentle brows, her heartbeat suddenly quickened.
Unconsciously, she pressed her lips tightly and turned her head, choosing not to respond.
The originally warm atmosphere suddenly turned chilly.
Mo Ziye looked at her turned face, his gentle brows covered with the coolness of the night. He pursed his thin lips slightly and focused on driving.
For a long while, the car’s interior was silent.
It wasn’t until the luxury Aston parked at the parking lot of a luxury brand’s house that Mo Ziye walked around the car and opened the passenger door, pulling Qin Qingqing out of her thoughts.
“Get out, let’s go take a look at the shop you want to rent first.”
Mo Ziye’s voice was calm.
The warmth from their earlier reminiscence was gone, replaced by a touch of distance in his words.
Standing in front of what used to be a street stall, still standing in the same spot she once stood, the shop before her had changed beyond recognition.
“This one, if one isn’t enough, then two.”
Mo Ziye took out a key and opened the door. With a gentle press on the key, the room immediately lit up brightly.
Qin Qingqing’s body froze in the bright light.
Looking at the décor and design inside, something overwhelming swept through her heart.
Amidst her chaotic thoughts, her cool little hand was grasped by the man’s warm large hand. He pulled her inside, and beside her ear, his deep, clear voice seemed to reach through time, “All the shops have uniform decor. There’s a lounge upstairs. Want to take a look?”
