Chapter 2183: Chapter 2182: Ziyi and Qingqing Side Story II

Now, Ziyi restricts Qingqing’s monthly intake of sweets.

Qingqing sneaks a little candy behind Ziyi’s back.

But no matter how careful she is each time, Ziyi would always find out, resulting in Ziyi giving her a serious reprimand.

“Daddy, I came back because I miss you,”

Qingqing firmly refuses to admit she sneaked chocolate and came back just to avoid Ziyi’s scolding.

“Are you staying over tonight?”

Qin Mu asked with a grin.

“Yes,” Qingqing nodded emphatically. If Brother Ziyi doesn’t come to pick her up, she’ll stay at home.

Actually, the Qin Family and Mo Family aren’t far apart, just a ten-minute walk. Not only their homes, but Gu Kai and Luo Haofeng’s places are also in this area.

Even Wen Jin and Jing Xiaocha moved to the suburbs after having the girl and boy twins, initially for a short stay that became a long-term residence.

So, although Qingqing lives at the Mo home, she isn’t missing out on seeing her parents.

After dinner, while Qingqing was playing in the living room with her parents, Ziyi arrived.

At over eight years old, Ziyi was taller than kids his age, dressed in a white shirt and black pants, exuding grace, with a handsome face that made countless girls blush.

Yet, his demeanor resembled his father, indifferent and aloof towards outsiders but gentle and warm with family and friends.

And when facing Qingqing, his demeanor was as warm as spring.

“Brother Ziyi.”

Seeing Ziyi walk in from the entrance, Qingqing immediately threw down the toy in her hands, sprinting toward him.

Ziyi’s handsome face broke into a charming smile, even his eyes filled with tenderness.

Opening his arms, he bent down to catch Qingqing who ran into his embrace, gently advising, “Run slower, be careful not to trip.”

“Ungrateful wretch, once she sees Brother Ziyi, she forgets about us,” An Lin feigned a hurt complaint from the couch.

Qin Mu chuckled, patting her hand, watching Ziyi lead Qingqing over, warmly asking, “Ziyi, how was the competition?”

Ziyi’s gentle smile towards Qingqing turned into respectful confidence when facing Qin Mu, “Everything went normal.”

Saying that everything went normal implied that the competition went smoothly.

Qin Mu smiled with relief, “That’s good. Is this your first day back? Have you had dinner?”

“Yes, I just got home and heard Qingqing had come back to accompany Uncle Qin and Aunt An for dinner, so I came to pick her up.”

“Ziyi, Qingqing just said she wanted to sleep over with me, why not let her stay tonight?” An Lin teased with a smile.

Ziyi’s eyes flickered, looking down at Qingqing beside him.

As soon as Qingqing met Ziyi’s inquiring gaze, she grinned, completely denying her earlier words to her mother, “Brother Ziyi, I was waiting for you to pick me up, I want to go back with you.”

“…”

An Lin’s lips twitched.

Qin Mu laughed, “Qingqing, didn’t you say you’d stay with your mom and dad tonight? Why are you going back with Ziyi now?”

“I’ve had dinner with Mom and Dad, but I haven’t been with Brother Ziyi yet.”

Qingqing found an excuse.

Her pretty big eyes sparkled with pure joy as she finished, and then looked up at Ziyi, who was much taller than her, “Brother Ziyi, have you eaten yet?”

“Not yet, I was worried that if I didn’t eat at home, you wouldn’t eat obediently. I didn’t expect you to come back home.”

Ziyi always had a gentle smile when speaking to Qingqing.

“Brother Ziyi, eat at my house. Tonight, my dad cooked…” Qingqing worriedly furrowed her brow upon hearing Ziyi hadn’t eaten.

Afraid he might starve.

Ziyi shook his head, “No need, Grandma Zhang is making me dinner, I’ll have it once I bring you back.”

Bringing up Grandma Zhang, Ziyi turned to Qin Mu and An Lin on the couch, politely saying, “Uncle Qin, Aunt An, I’ll take Qingqing home now, after dinner, I still need to check her homework.”

“Um, Qingqing hasn’t done her homework yet.”

An Lin expressed this with some guilt.

Since Qingqing seldom visits home, she wasn’t forced to do homework right after dinner.

“It’s okay, I’ll accompany Qingqing to finish her homework,” Ziyi smiled indifferently.

He was already used to supervising Qingqing’s homework daily, checking her assignments, and teaching her anything she didn’t understand.

“Alright then.”

Seeing their daughter willing to leave with Ziyi, An Lin and Qin Mu, though reluctant, accepted it.

Bidding farewell to Qin Mu and An Lin, Qingqing’s backpack was taken by Ziyi who stylishly slung it over his shoulder and held her hand.

Walking out of Qin’s house, the sky was dark.

The wind brushed their cheeks, carrying a trace of summer warmth; Ziyi looked down at Qingqing beside him, casually asking, “Qingqing, why didn’t you wait at home but came back by yourself?”

Feeling guilty from Ziyi’s question, Qingqing blinked her eyes and then cheerfully replied, “Mom knew you had a competition today, so she came to pick me up, saying she and Dad missed me and wanted me to have dinner with them.”

The implication was that it wasn’t her idea to return home; her mom wanted her to.

“I was absent from school today; no one bullied you, right?”

Shifting topic, Ziyi asked.

“No, no, no one dares to bully me,” Qingqing instinctively lifted her chin while saying this.

“I heard some little boy gave you chocolate?”

As Ziyi said this, his tone stretched slightly.

Qingqing’s face showed surprise, “Did Brother Little Hui tell you?”

Brother Little Hui promised not to tell Brother Ziyi, didn’t he? His words didn’t count.

Qingqing grumbled inwardly.

Ziyi cast a deep look at her and smiled, “It wasn’t Brother Little Hui who told me.”

“Brother Ziyi, although a boy gave me chocolate, I didn’t take it. You said I shouldn’t eat candy, shouldn’t eat sweets, so I always remembered.”

“Is that so?”

With Ziyi’s words carrying an ambiguous meaning.

Qingqing nodded quickly, her smile sweet and pure, “Of course, I always keep your words in mind.”

“Then how come you ate the chocolate Zhang Minghui gave you and rushed home because you were afraid I’d know?”

Ziyi’s tone was calm, neither rushed nor accusative, devoid of any sign of anger.

Yet, such soft and gentle words changed Qingqing’s expression.

Her clear eyes widened in shock, gazing at Ziyi’s handsome face, and after a few seconds, she muttered, “Brother Little Hui is bad, he broke his promise.”

“I made him tell me,”

Ziyi’s expression tautened slightly, and Qingqing immediately bit her lip in fear, apologizing without any excuses, “Brother Ziyi, I know my mistake, please don’t be angry, I really won’t sneak chocolate anymore.”

“You said the same last time: without my permission, you wouldn’t sneak sugar or chocolate,” Ziyi said, releasing the hand holding Qingqing.
