Chapter 2177: Chapter 2176: Accused of Cheating
The next morning.
Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen were having breakfast with their children when Wen Jin called.
He announced a bombshell over the phone.
Wen Ran asked in shock, “Really?”
This drew all eyes towards her, and Mo Xiuchen, sitting next to her, raised his handsome brow slightly, a gentle smile curling at his lips.
“Ranran, of course it’s true. It’s not April Fool’s Day today, why would I lie to you?”
“Wow, this is so sudden. Last time I asked Xiaocha, she said you guys weren’t planning to get married anytime soon. And now you’re getting the license today. Brother, why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
Wen Ran complained, wishing she could have been happy sooner.
Wen Jin chuckled on the other end and said warmly, “It was a last-minute decision because, in a few months, our family will have a new member.”
“Ah… Xiaocha is pregnant. Brother, it’s not right for you to keep this from us.”
Wen Ran was as happy as a child.
Learning that Jing Xiaocha was pregnant, and that she and Wen Jin were getting their license, Wen Ran’s joy was no less than that of the couple themselves.
The matter she had been concerned about all these years was finally resolved.
Her brother got married, and in a few months, he would have a child. Wen Ran no longer had to worry about him being alone, nor feel guilty every time she visited their parents.
Mo Xiuchen noticed Wen Ran’s happiness and felt a tinge of pity in his deep eyes. Living with her day and night, he knew her innermost thoughts.
“Didn’t I just tell you first? No one else knows yet,” Wen Jin explained over the phone.
“Then I’ll tell Mom and Dad later, let them know you and Xiaocha are getting your license today.”
“Let’s go together at noon. Xiaocha and I will go get the license first.”
“Okay, we’ll wait for you. You two better hurry up.” Wen Ran started urging them.
Wen Jin said a few more words and then ended the call.
“Mom, is Second Uncle getting married?”
Mo Ziye looked at Wen Ran with big, bright eyes. Too young to understand what marriage meant, Qingqing, sitting next to him, also curiously looked at her.
In a good mood, Wen Ran smiled and nodded, “Yes, your Second Uncle and Aunt Xiaocha are going to get their license soon, so from now on, you should call her Aunt.”
“Look at how happy you are. Hurry up and eat your breakfast.”
Mo Xiuchen smiled gently, reaching out for the phone in Wen Ran’s hand.
Without thinking, Wen Ran dodged, “Xiuchen, I need to call my brother, Xiaoxiao, and An Lin to celebrate with my brother and Xiaocha at noon.”
Wen Ran was so happy that she lost interest in breakfast.
“Second Uncle and Aunt Xiaocha are finally tying the knot. I don’t have to worry about them anymore.” Just as Wen Ran was about to dial Gu Kai’s number.
A precocious Mo Ziye piped up in an old-timer’s tone.
Clearly a little guy, yet he acted like a little adult.
Wen Ran asked, amused, “Ziye, how did your Second Uncle make you worry?”
“Mom, don’t you remember, last time I asked Second Uncle to come to our house…” Mo Ziye paused suddenly.
Out of the corner of his eye, he sneakily glanced at his dad sitting next to his mom.
Wen Ran pretended to suddenly remember, and drawled, “Oh… you’re talking about the time when your dad was on a business trip overseas, and you called your Second Uncle, lying that your dad…”
“Mom, aren’t you going to call my big uncle? Hurry up, or he’ll be at the hospital for work soon.”
Mo Ziye’s little face changed, interrupting her before she could finish.
He didn’t want his dad to find out that he had lied to his Second Uncle, saying his dad was having an affair and neglecting his sick mom.
If his dad found out, he’d be in trouble.
Mo Xiuchen didn’t miss the flash of guilt on Mo Ziye’s face, and suddenly he smiled, “Ranran, when was I on a business trip and that Ziye kid tricked Ah Jin into coming to our house, and said what about me?”
“I didn’t say anything, Dad, it’s been a long time since that happened.”
The implication being, old man, just drop it.
“Since you helped your Second Uncle, that’s a merit, and no matter how much time passes, deeds must be rewarded.”
Mo Xiuchen said as if he meant business.
But Mo Ziye didn’t dare accept the credit, waving it off repeatedly, “Helping Second Uncle find happiness is what I should do. I don’t want any credit. Dad, Mom’s only had a little bit of breakfast, you should let Mom eat more, or it’s bad for her health.”
This cunning little guy knew his dad cared most about his mom, so he shifted his dad’s attention onto her.
Wen Ran listened to the father-son conversation on the side, trying not to laugh.
Whether Mo Xiuchen really fell for Mo Ziye’s trick or decided to cut him some slack temporarily, he didn’t interrogate him further but urged Wen Ran to eat breakfast first.
Under Mo Xiuchen’s pressure, Wen Ran had no choice but to finish her breakfast before calling Gu Kai, Bai Yiyi, An Lin, Bai Xiaoxiao, and the others.
Mo Xiuchen patiently waited until she was done with her calls and then casually asked, “Ranran, what bad things did Ziye say about me last time?”
By now, Ziye, Momo, Xin Xin, and Qingqing had all gone to school, leaving just the two of them in the large living room.
Speaking of Qingqing going to school, that was all Ziye’s idea, but let’s not get into that.
Wen Ran blinked, meeting Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, which were smiling, and playfully shot him a look, “How can you be sure Ziye said bad things about you?”
“That kid, I know him well. If he had said something good, he wouldn’t be afraid to let you continue talking.”
Mo Xiuchen exuded confidence, like a father who knows his son well.
Wen Ran laughed, “I’ll tell you, but you can’t say it was me who said it.”
“No problem.”
Mo Xiuchen agreed readily.
It seemed Ziye had spoken more than just the average bad words.
Having received his promise, Wen Ran told him, “Last time you got a call from Jiang Hui and went on a business trip that night. That night, Ziye secretly took my phone and called my brother, saying that you had an affair, answered a woman’s call, and just left us, even ignoring that I was sick.”
“That little rascal.”
Mo Xiuchen’s brow furrowed, his handsome face darkening.
That little rascal dared to say he was having an affair and neglecting Ranran for another woman.
Wen Ran, holding back a laugh, reached up to smooth Mo Xiuchen’s furrowed brow, “None of us believed him, so don’t be angry. Ziye just wanted to trick his Second Uncle into coming over because that night Yihan was on a date with my brother…”
Wen Ran recounted the whole story.
After hearing it, Mo Xiuchen’s expression softened slightly, but he was not planning to let his son off that easily. However, now was not the time to settle the score with that brat.
His eyes deeply fixed on Wen Ran, he asked word by word, “Ranran, do you also not like Jiang Hui working at the company?”
