Chapter 2173: Chapter 2172: It’s a New Year
Wen Jin couldn’t help but chuckle, “After hearing them, I’m even more hesitant to move over.”
“Ah Jin, aren’t you still our brother?” Gu Kai questioned with a sullen face.
Out of the corner of his eye, Wen Jin saw Jing Xiaocha coming up from the stairway and gave him a ‘what do you think?’ look and then said to the others, “Call those kids down for dinner.”
He then headed towards Jing Xiaocha first.
Mo Xiuchen and the others watched Wen Jin’s departing figure, unanimously agreeing that they had misjudged Wen Jin in the past.
This guy definitely prioritizes romance over friendship.
“Why did you come up?”
Wen Jin approached Jing Xiaocha, raised his hand to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear, and gently asked.
Jing Xiaocha glanced at Mo Xiuchen and the others not far away, lowered her voice, and said to Wen Jin, “Sister Yiyi and the others were teasing me, so I came up.”
Wen Jin’s gaze changed slightly. Seeing her slightly flushed cheeks, he suddenly understood and smiled, “Come on, I’ll go downstairs with you.”
This year’s New Year’s Eve dinner did not include Gu Yan.
His reason was that he felt old and didn’t want to mix with the young crowd. In reality, he took advantage of the New Year holiday to travel.
Without the elder Gu Yan, the young crowd indeed had more wild fun.
Fortunately, Mo Xiuchen’s dining room was large enough, and the dining table was big enough to accommodate such a large group of people.
At the table, as the male host, Mo Xiuchen took the initiative to serve everyone. While he was pouring wine for the ladies, Wen Jin stopped him from pouring for Xiaocha, “Xiaocha doesn’t drink cold; she drinks plain water.”
Mo Xiuchen had been pouring red wine for the ladies, and hearing Wen Jin’s words, he frowned in confusion, “Isn’t Xiaocha only allergic to white wine?”
In such matters, Wen Ran was quick to react; she lightly tugged Mo Xiuchen’s sleeve and smiled, saying, “Since Xiaocha can’t drink cold, I’ll go pour her a glass of plain water.”
“Ranran, you sit; I’ll go.”
Wen Jin immediately stopped Wen Ran, and as soon as he finished speaking, he pulled out his chair and left the table.
When Mo Xiuchen turned to meet Wen Ran’s gaze, he instantly understood something.
He moved past Jing Xiaocha and continued pouring wine for An Lin.
In such matters, women probably catch on quicker than men. As soon as Wen Jin spoke, not only did Wen Ran understand, but so did Bai Yiyi, Bai Xiaoxiao, and An Lin.
They couldn’t help but cast a more teasing gaze at Jing Xiaocha.
Consequently, Jing Xiaocha, who was embarrassed easily, blushed again, and when Wen Jin placed a glass of plain water in front of her, she kept her head down without looking up.
Everyone had always known that Wen Jin took good care of Jing Xiaocha. Before she went abroad, even when they dined together, Wen Jin would serve her food.
But tonight, seeing Wen Jin’s meticulous care for Jing Xiaocha, everyone realized that the way he cared for her before was nothing compared to now.
Indeed, whether passionate, indifferent, or gentle, when love arrives, men are alike.
Of course, Wen Jin wasn’t the only one at the table taking care of someone.
The other men also took great care of their wives, with the youngest Ziyi deserving special praise.
His attention to Qingqing was meticulous, not inferior to any other man present, especially when picking out fish bones for her.
“Brother, you should eat too.”
And Qingqing wasn’t just a girl who only enjoyed without reciprocating.
No matter what Ziyi picked for her, she’d always share some with him after having some herself.
Ziyi never minded it. Even if it had Qingqing’s saliva on it, he’d eat it without disdain.
Remembering the joke earlier, An Lin sliced a piece of fish and placed it on Qingqing’s plate, chuckling, “Qingqing, how about going home with mom and dad tonight? You’ve been staying at Brother Ziyi’s house for a year; next year you should stay home with mom and dad.”
Qingqing, with fish in her mouth, looked up at An Lin and shook her head without thinking, “No, I want brother.”
“Aunt An, Sister Qingqing has been staying well at our home. If you take her back, she won’t get used to it.”
Ziyi paused his action of picking food, his handsome young face turned serious.
An Lin blinked, “Really? If Qingqing comes home with us, will you get used to it, Ziyi?”
“I wouldn’t get used to it either, so just let Sister Qingqing live with us. I’ll take good care of her.”
Ziyi openly admitted that he had gotten used to having Sister Qingqing around, and if she left, he’d really feel uncomfortable.
Wen Ran looked at An Lin with an expression that seemed to say: How about it? Qingqing is now one of us; can you still take her back?
An Lin pouted, feeling a bit vexed, as if sending Qingqing to the Mo family was a wrong decision to begin with.
“Mom, don’t be mad.”
Qingqing noticed An Lin’s expression, her innocent voice offering comfort.
After speaking, she scooped up a piece of fish with a spoon from her bowl and presented it to An Lin, “Mom, eat some fish.”
An Lin immediately smiled again, affectionately patting Qingqing’s head, “Good girl, Qingqing. You eat it.”

Originally planning to stay up all night, the group dispersed after midnight.
Because everyone drank tonight, Mo Xiuchen asked Qing Feng to drive Wen Jin and Jing Xiaocha home.
Before reaching the Wen Family home, Wen Jin asked Qing Feng to stop the car so that he and Jing Xiaocha could walk home.
The late night wasn’t lonely.
The flickering neon lights carried the festive spirit of the New Year, occasionally accompanied by the sound of fireworks, and even tonight’s night breeze held a warmth usually absent.
Wen Jin and Jing Xiaocha walked hand in hand, fingers interlocked, feeling happy and grounded even in silence.
“Xiaocha, are you sleepy?”
Wen Jin turned his head, asking gently.
Jing Xiaocha lightly shook her head, a gentle and elegant smile gracing her face.
Warmth gathered in Wen Jin’s gaze, “Since you’re not sleepy, how about we visit the cemetery later?”
“The cemetery?”
Jing Xiaocha was slightly surprised.
“Yes.” Wen Jin nodded. He had gone to the cemetery alone this morning.
“Didn’t you visit Uncle and Aunt this morning?”
Wen Jin turned around, under the dim streetlight, his eyes locked onto Jing Xiaocha, “I went alone this morning. You didn’t go. Now I want to take you to meet my parents.”
He had gone alone in the morning just so he could take her now.
“Then why this morning?”
Jing Xiaocha asked in puzzlement, recalling last New Year’s Eve when she secretly followed him to the cemetery, a suspicion flashed through her mind.
Wen Jin lifted his broad hand to gently caress her slightly cool face, transferring the warmth from his palm to her, “It’s a new year now, and I want to tell my parents on the first day of the new year that I’m not alone anymore.”
The words ‘I’m not alone anymore’ made Jing Xiaocha’s heart ache inexplicably.
