Chapter 2153: Chapter 2152: It Must Be Deliberate
Jing Xiaocha felt that Wen Jin was doing it on purpose.
His pace was very slow.
Very slow, no, it was too slow.
If it had been any other man folding a girl’s underwear and clothes so slowly, Jing Xiaocha would definitely find it creepy.
But since it was Wen Jin, somehow everything felt different.
She stared wide-eyed at his leisurely movements of folding clothes, seemingly each motion so graceful, even focused.
After a long ten or so minutes passed, Wen Jin had sorted all her clothes and packed them into the bag.
As Jing Xiaocha saw him stand up, realizing his next step was to organize the drawers, she instinctively flipped out of bed without thinking.
Watching her flustered demeanor, Wen Jin found it amusing yet puzzling, “Don’t rush like that, be careful not to fall.”
“I’ll organize the drawers myself.”
Her brain had a brief moment of a short circuit earlier, so she forgot there were things in the drawer she didn’t want Wen Jin to see.
Wen Jin narrowed his eyes slightly, seeing her crouch in front of the bedside table, reaching out to open the drawer.
He didn’t stop her, instead, he stood leisurely with his hands in his pockets, watching her take out a package of sanitary products from the drawer.
As Jing Xiaocha stood up to meet Wen Jin’s gentle and warm gaze, she felt embarrassed again.
She thought everything was wrong tonight.
Ever since Wen Jin said the person he liked was her, the atmosphere between them became off.
To be precise, it has all changed since her hospital stay this time.
Ambiguity is everywhere.
In front of Wen Jin, this thirty-year-old man, she was still too naive, her skin wasn’t as thick as his, and she was always the one feeling embarrassed.
In contrast, Wen Jin was calm, even smiling gently.
“I thought it was something scandalous, turns out it’s just a visit from ‘relatives’,” Wen Jin said as if enlightened.
“…”
Jing Xiaocha wanted to bypass him and put this item into the bag.
But Wen Jin’s big hand snatched it away, “In the future, there’s no need to hide anything from me.”
“…”
Jing Xiaocha half-opened her mouth, watching Wen Jin place the snatched sanitary products into the bag.
Do I also have to inform you when I get my period?
Wouldn’t that mean no privacy at all?
After packing, Wen Jin thoughtfully took out one for her, tucked it into her hand and said, “Go inside and change, once I finish tidying we’ll head home.”
Jing Xiaocha was forced to enter the bathroom.
As soon as the door closed, Wen Jin’s voice came through the door, with a touch of concern, a hint of teasing, and a bit of joking, “Can you manage with one hand?”
“Yes.”
Jing Xiaocha responded with her brain on autopilot.
Seemingly afraid that if she hesitated for just one second, Wen Jin might come in to help.
The next moment, she vaguely heard Wen Jin’s laughter.
She dared not scold him, only able to secretly gripe in her heart.
When leaving, Wen Jin carried her luggage, while she had empty hands.
Upon exiting the hospital, a chill hit them, Wen Jin glanced at her and asked, “Are you cold?”
“Not cold.” Jing Xiaocha’s body shrunk slightly, but she shook her head and said she wasn’t cold.
“The car’s just ahead, not far, bear with it a bit longer.”
Wen Jin’s gaze paused on her for a second, and he shifted the luggage to the other hand, wrapped his long arm around her shoulder, and conveniently drew her slender body into his embrace.
His jacket wasn’t buttoned.
When he pulled Jing Xiaocha into his embrace, his jacket practically enveloped her completely.
Just out in the cold winter night, Jing Xiaocha felt a warmth instantly surround her, and the fresh air she inhaled was overtaken by the warm, masculine scent.
Her body fell into the warm embrace of the person beside her, and after a momentary pause, her heart began to beat rapidly, wildly.
Feeling her slightly stiff body, a glint flashed deep in Wen Jin’s eyes, but his arm didn’t loosen, as he kept her by his side, walking towards the parking lot.
When they reached the parking lot, Wen Jin finally released Jing Xiaocha.
He opened the car door for her, and as she bent down and slipped into the car, he put the luggage in the back seat, shut the door, walked around the car, and settled into the driver’s seat.
Throughout the drive, Jing Xiaocha spoke very little.
Wen Jin focused on driving, not actively engaging in conversation.
He only occasionally glanced at Jing Xiaocha sitting in the passenger seat through the rearview mirror.
At the intersection, where he should turn left towards Jing Xiaocha’s apartment, he went straight instead. Though Jing Xiaocha kept her gaze out the window.
Her mind wasn’t focused.
She was unaware of Wen Jin driving in the opposite direction.
It wasn’t until the car was near the Wen Family home that Jing Xiaocha suddenly snapped back to reality, her eyes widening as she looked out at the rapidly retreating buildings, then turned to ask Wen Jin, “Brother Wen, is this the road to your place?”
“Yes.”
Wen Jin didn’t turn to look at her but kept his eyes fixed straight ahead.
“Weren’t you supposed to take me home? Why are we going to your place first? Are we picking up Little Hui?”
During her hospital stay, Zhang Minghui had been staying at the Wen Family home.
After the initial shock, Jing Xiaocha suddenly thought of this.
Wen Jin slowly turned his face, gave her a calm glance, then returned his focus to the road ahead, answering unhurriedly, “I’ve rented out your apartment to someone else. From now on, you’ll stay at my place.”
“What?”
Jing Xiaocha stared at him in disbelief.
“I’ll explain it to you in detail once we get home.”
Wen Jin appeared indifferent, as if him renting out Jing Xiaocha’s apartment without her knowledge was no big deal.
Jing Xiaocha, however, was anything but calm.
That was her home.
He had rented it out, and without informing her.
“When did this happen?”
Unable to wait until they got home to hear his explanation, she asked right away.
Wen Jin glanced at her visibly shocked face and answered warmly, “The day before my business trip, the afternoon you asked me not to visit you at the hospital anymore.”
“…”
Jing Xiaocha was speechless.
Her first thought was, is this revenge?
Wen Jin, whether perceptively reading her mind or genuinely retaliating, replied, “I didn’t rent your apartment out as revenge for you chasing me away, but coincidentally, one of the factory employees needed housing, so I rented it to her.”
“But you didn’t tell me.”
“You were angry at the time, and you wouldn’t have picked up my call, so I made the decision for you. Your arm won’t heal in a few days. Rather than living alone in your apartment, it’s better to stay at my home where Aunt Chen can take care of you.”
“…”
“I’ve sought Little Hui’s opinion, and he’s agreed to stay at my place too.”
Wen Jin’s words nearly made Jing Xiaocha explode.
“Little Hui can’t decide for me.”
She protested indignantly.
What about her rights?
“Of course, Little Hui can’t make decisions for you, I merely said he agreed to stay at my place. As for you, you don’t need to take care of yourself, so staying in an apartment is not as good as staying at my house. Besides, the apartment is idle, renting it out brings in some income.”
Jing Xiaocha stared speechlessly at the car ceiling.
Had he just made money for her?
