Chapter 2097: Chapter 2096: A Heart Full of Ulterior Motives

Early the next morning, Ziyi got up obediently and went to the kitchen to help.

When Wen Ran came downstairs with Momo and Xinxin, Ziyi had already brought breakfast to the dining table. “Mom, breakfast is ready.”

Wen Ran gave him a faint glance and led Momo and Xinxin to the dining table.

Ziyi reached up to touch his head, his dark eyes moving, and a bright smile bloomed on his handsome little face as he pulled out a chair for his mother. “Mom, sit down. Is your stomach still hurting?”

“…”

Wen Ran still didn’t speak.

Ziyi’s smile faltered a bit. “Mom, please don’t be mad at me, okay?”

He stretched out and shook one of Wen Ran’s hands coquettishly.

“Explain yourself.”

Wen Ran’s cool and calm voice rang out, and after speaking, she called Xinxin and Momo to eat breakfast.

Ziyi said “Oh” in a grievance.

He pursed his lips, not daring to sit on the chair, and stood in front of Wen Ran. “Last night, I heard a woman calling dad. I really thought dad was having an affair, so I told Uncle Wen.”

“Keep making things up.”

Wen Ran gave a cold look, and Mo Ziye instinctively pursed his lips.

That face, a spitting image of his father’s, had a look of calmness. Although his heart was a bit guilty, he tried his best to maintain his composure.

He wasn’t the kind of person who would sell out his little brother easily.

Last night was for Zhang Minghui; if he sold out Zhang Minghui now, Zhang Minghui would definitely resent him.

“Mom, I’m telling the truth. Last time I went to the office, I happened to see that woman named Jiang trying to seduce dad, and dad even praised her.”

Mo Ziye smeared his dad without hesitation.

“So last night when I heard her voice, I was worried that dad would be taken away by that bad woman. Now dad won’t even stay with you when your stomach hurts because of her.”

As Mo Ziye spoke, he secretly prayed in his heart: Dad, I’m not saying this on purpose, please don’t be mad.

“Your dad went on a business trip for work. Who told you he left because of a woman?”

Wen Ran was speechless at her son’s stubbornness.

But when she looked down and captured the silent movement of his lips, “If you don’t explain why you tricked Uncle Wen into coming here clearly today, you don’t need to go to school.”

Although Ziyi usually liked to challenge his dad, Mo Xiuchen, and the two often engaged in battles of wits, he had an immense admiration for his father.

He couldn’t possibly suspect his dad just because of one phone call.

There had to be another reason.

Otherwise, why didn’t Ziyi call Gu Kai, but instead called Wen Jin, who lived far away?

“Mom, I’ve said everything I needed to say.”

“Horse stance against the wall.”

Wen Ran, too lazy to keep interrogating, ordered and started eating breakfast.

Mo Ziye pouted in grievance, obediently moving to the wall without any objections.

He stood in a perfect horse stance, his stomach growling, but all he could do was watch and not eat.

“Little Hui, why did you call your Aunt Wen’s house last night?”

In an apartment

At the breakfast table, Jing Xiaocha asked Zhang Minghui, who was sitting across from her.

Zhang Minghui was drinking porridge, and upon hearing Jing Xiaocha’s question, he paused and then looked up.

Facing Jing Xiaocha’s probing and puzzled gaze, his eyes moved, searching for an excuse. “I called to find Ziyi.”

“You see Ziyi every day at school. Do you really need to call him after school?”

Jing Xiaocha smiled without thinking much.

“I forgot to tell him something. Auntie, your porridge is really delicious. Can I have two bowls?”

Zhang Minghui smiled sweetly, changing the subject.

Jing Xiaocha laughed and nodded, “Of course, you can eat as much as you want since you’re growing.”

“Thank you, Auntie.”

“With the holidays coming up, make sure to use this time to study hard and get a good grade.”

Jing Xiaocha said as she handed Zhang Minghui an egg pancake.

Zhang Minghui smiled confidently, “Don’t worry, Auntie. I’ll get a good grade and won’t let you down.”

After breakfast, Jing Xiaocha took Zhang Minghui to school.

As they walked out of the apartment, a horn sounded from the roadside to their left front.

It was Wen Jin’s car.

After the horn sound, the car window rolled down, and Wen Jin’s exquisite and handsome face leaned out of the car window, saying to Jing Xiaocha, “Xiaocha, I’ll take Little Hui to school today, you don’t have to.”

“Brother Wen, it’s not on your way to work, I’ll take him so you won’t be late for work.”

Jing Xiaocha instinctively refused.

Wen Jin got out of the car, opened the back door, and let Zhang Minghui in.

He then looked at Jing Xiaocha with concern, “Have your rashes faded?”

Jing Xiaocha’s eyes flickered, avoiding his gaze, “They’ve mostly faded.”

“There are still red spots on your hands. You should just stay at home and not go to school, to avoid scaring the other kids.”

Wen Jin’s words made Jing Xiaocha’s mouth twitch.

She looked down at her own hand; the red spots weren’t that noticeable. Would they really scare other kids?

“Uncle Wen, let Auntie take me to school too.”

After Zhang Minghui got in the car, he poked his head out again.

“You rest at home for the next couple of days, it’s cold, don’t run around.”

After closing the door for Zhang Minghui, Wen Jin returned to the driver’s seat.

Jing Xiaocha wanted to say something, but Wen Jin had already shut the car door, rolled up the window, and drove away.

“Why did Brother Wen suddenly want to take Little Hui to school?”

Jing Xiaocha looked ahead in confusion, Wen Jin’s car already out of sight.

When she saw Wen Jin just now, she thought he was here to talk about last night’s appointment with Shi Tian.

Wen Jin wasn’t there to find Wen Ran but to talk to Zhang Minghui.

This morning, he received a call from Wen Ran saying that Zhang Minghui had called Ziyi last night, but Ziyi wouldn’t say what they talked about.

“Little Hui, did you and your aunt meet that Uncle Shi last night?”

On the congested main road, Wen Jin casually asked while glancing in the rear view mirror.

In the back seat, Zhang Minghui was reading a book, and upon hearing Wen Jin’s question, he put the book down and replied, “Uncle Wen, I saw that man surnamed Shi, he has ulterior motives toward my aunt.”

“You know how to use idioms?”

Wen Jin teased with a smile, “What kind of ulterior motive?”

“He said he wants to court Auntie and make her his girlfriend.”

Zhang Minghui pouted and said angrily.

Wen Jin smiled lightly, asking casually, “What else did he say?”

“He also said that Uncle Wen and Auntie Ou are getting married soon and that my aunt doesn’t stand a chance. Uncle Wen, have you and Auntie Ou already made it official?”

In Zhang Minghui’s mind, the only suitable partner for his aunt is Wen Jin.

He has firmly believed Wen Jin is his uncle, and no other woman should take him away.

Wen Jin coughed gently, “Little Hui, kids shouldn’t make things up.”
