Chapter 2088: 2087: Blame

Chapter 2088: Chapter 2087: Blame

On the way to Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion, Wen Ran made a phone call to Mo Xiuchen.

She told him that Zhang Minghui’s parents had found the school, and she suggested they discuss things at Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion.

On the other end, Mo Xiuchen’s deep, gentle voice came through, “Ranran, don’t worry, I’ll be there shortly.”

“Okay. Earlier, at the school gate, I was worried they might cause trouble, so I didn’t let Xiaocha get out of the car.”

The children sat in a row, chatting about their amusing school stories.

Wen Ran turned her eyes to look outside the car window, and the receding buildings. Her soft voice flowed through the phone to Mo Xiuchen’s ears.

“Ranran, you did well. A school is not a place for them to cause trouble.” Mo Xiuchen’s voice carried a hint of gentleness and approval.

Wen Ran’s eyebrows and eyes carried a hint of delicate warmth, “I think they want to take Zhang Minghui home. I asked Xiaocha and Zhang Minghui earlier, and he said he didn’t want to go back with his parents. He prefers living with Xiaocha.”

“I understand. We’ll talk more at Yi Pin Xuan later… Does Ah Jin know?”

Mo Xiuchen paused slightly before adding another question.

“I haven’t told my brother yet, he doesn’t know.”

Hearing this, Jing Xiaocha, who was sitting beside her, glanced at Wen Ran and slightly shook her head when their eyes met.

After finishing the call with Mo Xiuchen, Jing Xiaocha immediately said, “Sister Wen, let’s not tell Brother Wen about this matter. I don’t want to trouble him with everything.”

Wen Ran smiled lightly, holding Jing Xiaocha’s hand, she said, “I might not tell him, but aren’t you afraid he will be angry when he eventually finds out?”

Hearing this, Jing Xiaocha’s expression slightly changed.

Wen Jin certainly would get angry.

But just this morning, Sister Ou had spoken those words in the hospital ward. If she were to trouble Wen Jin again over Zhang Minghui’s matter, what would Sister Ou think?

“Brother Wen already stood up Sister Ou because of me last night, I don’t want to trouble him again.” Jing Xiaocha said softly.

Wen Ran’s eyes glimmered as she looked at Jing Xiaocha with a touch more curiosity. Suddenly, recalling what she heard Ou Yihan say when entering the ward, she asked with concern, “Xiaocha, did Yihan say something to you?”

Ou Yihan, acting as her brother’s girlfriend, would naturally have her thoughts.

Her brother was very concerned about Xiaocha, and last night he even ended up in a fight with Jin Zheyu, making headlines.

Jing Xiaocha instinctively shook her head, “No, it’s just that I don’t want to affect Sister Ou and Brother Wen. Besides, isn’t there Sister Wen and Mo General here?”

Jing Xiaocha gave a playful smile in her response.

“Alright then, we won’t tell my brother for now. Let’s see what Zhang Jinlei has to say when we get to Yi Pin Xuan?”

“Okay.”

Jing Xiaocha nodded gently.

Throughout the journey, Zhang Minghui remained preoccupied, rarely engaging in his usual playful banter with Ziyi.

Eventually, Ziyi found it tiresome and stopped paying attention to him.

When they arrived at Yi Pin Xuan, Zhang Jinlei and Wang Huanhuan had not yet arrived, but Mo Xiuchen got there just in time.

Wen Ran was slightly surprised to find that Mo Xiuchen hadn’t come alone; he had brought Lawyer Li along.

Mo Xiuchen had unexpectedly thought of everything.

Mo Xiuchen strode over to Wen Ran, ignoring the others around, and held her hand, explaining warmly, “I also called Lawyer Li to come. If any legal issues arise later, he can address them, saving us from Zhang Jinlei causing unreasonable trouble.”

“Thank you, Mo General, thank you, Lawyer Li.”

Jing Xiaocha smiled and thanked him, while Wen Ran also smiled and said, “You are indeed considerate.”

Receiving praise from his wife, Mo Xiuchen’s handsome brows lifted, and the corners of his lips curled into a smile, “I can’t let you worry about everything.”

Mo Xiuchen, Wen Ran, and the others went into a private room. About ten minutes later, Zhang Jinlei and Wang Huanhuan were led in by a server.

Seeing Mo Xiuchen sitting at the main seat, a flash of shock and apprehension reflected in Zhang Jinlei and Wang Huanhuan’s eyes.

“Mo General, you’re here too.”

Zhang Jinlei smiled ingratiatingly, while Wang Huanhuan stood beside him smiling as well.

In front of people higher in status than them, their smiles seemed extremely humble.

Mo Xiuchen’s deep eyes scanned over them briefly before withdrawing his gaze, lowering his eyes gently at Wen Ran, “Ranran, order some dishes that you like.”

Holding the menu, Wen Ran had only ordered dishes the children liked, not her own preferences.

Seeing Mo Xiuchen leaving Zhang Jinlei and his wife aside, their faces full of awkwardness, Wen Ran softly said, “You should sit down too.”

“Thank you, Mrs. Mo.”

The couple thanked in unison and approached where Zhang Minghui was sitting, “Little Hui, Dad and Mom will sit with you.”

With that, they pulled out two chairs and sat down.

Wang Huanhuan, not having seen her son for a few years, felt genuinely emotional. Once sitting next to her son, she intently observed him and asked with concern, “Little Hui, how have you been all these years? Has anyone bullied you?”

“It happened before but not anymore.”

Zhang Minghui’s voice was extremely indifferent. He spoke while looking towards Jing Xiaocha beside him, “I’m living with Aunt now, and it’s great. Aunt treats me very well, you needn’t worry.”

“How can we not worry being your parents? We’re most concerned about you.”

Wang Huanhuan’s eyes filled with tears as she spoke.

Whether it was genuine longing for her son over the years or an attempt to move him with familial love was unclear.

Zhang Jinlei chimed in, “Little Hui, your mom and I searched everywhere for you once we got out. Your grandma said you’re living with your aunt, but we didn’t know her address, searched for many days, and finally found your school today.”

“How did you know I was studying at that school?”

Questioned by Zhang Minghui, Zhang Jinlei immediately displayed a proud expression, “I searched school after school. Your grandma said you were living with your aunt. Knowing that your aunt keeps good relations with Mo General and Mrs. Mo, we found Young Master Mo’s and the Miss Mo’s school…”

Zhang Minghui didn’t like his father’s humble way of speaking, a hint of displeasure crossing his face, “Now that you know where I am, that’s enough. You didn’t take care of me in recent years, yet I’ve managed well.”

“How can you say that, Little Hui? Do you hate us?”

Wang Huanhuan’s tears fell, looking utterly devastated.

Zhang Minghui shrugged with some disdain, “I’m just telling the truth. I’m doing fine now, and I won’t go back with you.”

“Xiaocha, did you teach Little Hui to be this way?”

Wang Huanhuan turned her gaze towards Jing Xiaocha, questioning her sharply, “We’re grateful for your care of Little Hui, but you shouldn’t teach him to hate us as his parents.”

“Indeed, Xiaocha, how could you teach Little Hui to be like this?”

Zhang Jinlei also looked at Jing Xiaocha with a face full of anger.
