Chapter 2064: Chapter 2063: One Month as a Housekeeper

Just as Jing Xiaocha was about to go in and explain that she was cooking tonight, she heard Wen Jin’s voice come through, “Good, as expected, Little Hui is obedient, much more than someone else I know.”

Jing Xiaocha twitched her lips, silently defending herself in her mind.

I only had a bowl of instant noodles, how does that make me disobedient?

Little Hui, praised, immediately broke into a happy smile.

And couldn’t help flattering, “Uncle Wen, the dishes you made last time were so delicious, I want to learn cooking from you.”

“No problem.”

Wen Jin’s voice was clear and cheerful, as if the one giving her the cold shoulder earlier wasn’t him at all.

Jing Xiaocha silently sighed; last time Brother Wen had warned her not to eat instant noodles, saying they were bad for health.

Now that he caught her eating them again, he was definitely angry.

Which was why even the cooking for tonight, which was supposed to be her turn, was snatched away by the two of them.

Despite that, the guilty Jing Xiaocha still dawdled her way to the kitchen.

Watching the two men, one big and one small, busy in the kitchen, chatting and laughing.

She forced a smile, pretended to be cheerful, and said, “Let me help you wash the vegetables.”

“…”

Little Hui tilted his face up to look at her for a moment, then questioningly looked toward Wen Jin.

Jing Xiaocha didn’t hear anyone answering, and reached out to grab the vegetables.

Yet her hand was sharply smacked, causing her to hiss and withdraw her hand instinctively.

Seeing Wen Jin, the culprit whipping her, holding a string bean, she pouted in frustration, “Brother Wen, I’m here to help.”

“Go get rid of the noodle smell in the living room, I don’t want to smell a hint of it.”

Wen Jin ordered casually, not even glancing at Jing Xiaocha.

Jing Xiaocha frowned slightly as she looked at him, “There’s no smell anymore.”

“Aunt, there is still a smell.”

Little Hui whispered while pointing secretly toward the living room, as if lowering his voice would make Wen Jin unable to hear.

Jing Xiaocha looked bewildered and puzzled, how could there still be a smell after all afternoon?

But how could she not notice it?

Hesitating for a couple of seconds, she resignedly turned out of the kitchen to go deal with the noodle smell in the living room.

Wen Jin lifted his gaze to glance at her lightly, then withdrew his gaze and continued picking the string beans in his hand, “Little Hui, are you understanding the lessons the teacher is teaching?”

The big and small pair in the kitchen worked well together, chatting happily, with occasional bursts of their laughter.

Jing Xiaocha opened all the windows to let the outside wind blow in.

Since Wen Jin didn’t like the smell of air fresheners, she dared not spray any to eliminate the noodle smell.

After a few minutes, she sniffed again, still uncertain if the smell was gone.

Then she turned and ran out the door.

“Uncle Wen, did aunt leave in anger?”

In the kitchen, Little Hui, who was learning to cook from Wen Jin, saw Jing Xiaocha dart out of the living room and asked Wen Jin worriedly.

Wen Jin glanced at the doorway, calmly saying, “She might have gone to buy a pomelo.”

“Pomelo?”

Little Hui looked at Wen Jin in confusion.

Uncle Wen had asked his aunt to clear the noodle smell from the living room, right?

If she didn’t clear the noodle smell and went to buy pomelo instead, wouldn’t that just add the smell of pomelo?

When did aunt become so silly?

Wen Jin chuckled silently; although he hated the smell of noodles, he liked to eat pomelo, and also liked the scent of pomelo.

Earlier when they came back, they saw a truck selling pomelos outside the apartment.

Quite a few people were gathered in front of the truck buying pomelos.

As expected, as Wen Jin had guessed, Jing Xiaocha really did come back with a pomelo.

Once the pomelo was cut open, the instant noodle smell dissipated instantly.

The entire living room filled with the fragrance of pomelo, and soon, Jing Xiaocha brought two segments of pomelo into the kitchen, already peeled with the seeds removed.

“Brother Wen, Little Hui, here’s a piece of pomelo for each of you.”

Little Hui happily accepted the pomelo and immediately popped it into his mouth, while Wen Jin was holding a seasoning bottle in one hand and a spatula in the other.

Seeing this, Jing Xiaocha, wanting to appease Wen Jin further, directly fed the pomelo in her hand to his mouth, “Brother Wen, try it, this pomelo is so sweet.”

Wen Jin gave her a cold side-eye, indicating he was still angry.

“Hehe, Brother Wen, just have a taste, if it’s not tasty, I won’t charge you.”

Jing Xiaocha grinned pleasingly, holding the pomelo to his lips, waiting for him to open his mouth and eat.

Perhaps it was her awkward smile, even with a stern face, Wen Jin couldn’t resist her fake smile and bit off a piece.

Even though Jing Xiaocha was feeding the pomelo into his mouth, he chewed it gracefully.

“Wasn’t it delicious?”

Jing Xiaocha inquired eagerly, her bright eyes fixed on Wen Jin’s handsome cold face.

The temperature in the kitchen felt even colder than the living room, in this season, she somehow felt chilly.

Wen Jin chewed slowly and swallowed the pomelo, speaking with an inscrutable expression, “Barely acceptable.”

Though not a glowing review, Jing Xiaocha optimistically took it as having passed his test.

Brother Wen was no longer angry; her smile became a few shades more genuine and radiant, “Brother Wen, since it’s tasty, have more.”

Wen Jin had already put the seasonings back in place, frowning as he looked at her hand feeding him by the mouth.

Since he had to keep an eye on the cooking, he simply allowed Jing Xiaocha to feed him the pomelo.

One piece of pomelo appeased Wen Jin.

Jing Xiaocha wouldn’t need to cook and could enjoy a ready-made dinner.

When she sat at the dining table, she realized that although Wen Jin was upset about her eating instant noodles, two out of the four dishes on the table were her favorites, and two were Little Hui’s favorites.

“Brother Wen, why didn’t you cook the dishes I bought?”

Wen Jin shot her a look, serving her a dish into her bowl, “If I catch you eating instant noodles again, you’ll be my housekeeper for a month.”

“Housekeeper?”

Jing Xiaocha’s expression froze.

Wen Jin served Little Hui, explaining absent-mindedly, “Yes, housekeeper, that way you’ll be cooking every day and won’t have noodles.”

“…”

So harsh!

Jing Xiaocha muttered internally but earnestly promised, “I’ll never eat instant noodles again.”

Though she occasionally used to be a housekeeper at Wen Jin’s, cooking for him, especially during Lunar New Year.

But that was before.

Now Brother Wen had Sister Ou, if she went over to play housekeeper, Sister Ou would definitely get jealous.

If she got jealous, she would introduce her to potential partners.

Thinking about that, Jing Xiaocha couldn’t help but shiver slightly.

“Then finish these two dishes.”

Wen Jin said, picking up another dish for Little Hui, and added, “Little Hui, let your aunt have those two dishes, we’ll have these two.”

Jing Xiaocha looked aggrievedly at the two plates in front of her, along with the bowl of rice Wen Jin served, fuller than his and Little Hui’s—he was doing it intentionally.

Didn’t she appease him already with the pomelo, wasn’t he no longer mad?
