Chapter 1979: Chapter 1978: As If You Were All Eligible Bachelors
In the following period, Luo Haofeng was very busy.
Apart from company matters, he also personally got involved in the wedding preparations with Xiaoxiao.
Even so, Luo Haofeng would still go to the Bai Family every day to accompany Xiaoxiao, although his time staying at the Bai Family reduced a bit.
Bai Xiaoxiao knew he was busy preparing for their wedding and had told him several times not to work too hard, but Luo Haofeng just shook his head with a smile, "It’s not hard."
A few days before the wedding, they went to get their marriage license.
The moment Bai Xiaoxiao received the marriage certificate from the staff, she felt indescribable excitement in her heart. Luo Haofeng carefully examined their marriage certificate until Bai Xiaoxiao reached out to ask for it, and only then did he hand her a copy.
"This one isn’t mine."
Bai Xiaoxiao took the marriage certificate, opened it for a glance, and then looked at the one in Luo Haofeng’s hand.
Luo Haofeng replied with a smile, "I know this one is mine, but let’s keep them together."
"Why keep them together? Aren’t they supposed to be one each? Let’s keep them separately." Bai Xiaoxiao casually said, which prompted Luo Haofeng to earnestly respond, "Xiaoxiao, let’s not keep them separately."
Bai Xiaoxiao chuckled softly, seeing Luo Haofeng’s serious expression, and conceded, "Alright then, we’ll keep them together."
"That’s more like it."
He affectionately patted her head, then clasped her hand, and they walked out of the civil affairs bureau with their fingers interlocked. As they got into the car, Luo Haofeng leaned over to kiss Bai Xiaoxiao.
"Stop it, it’s broad daylight, people will see."
Luo Haofeng glanced out the car window, "I’m just too happy."
As he spoke, his clear, defined hand gently caressed her fair cheek, cherishing her, "Xiaoxiao, from now on, we’re husband and wife."
Bai Xiaoxiao, looking into his deep, affectionate eyes, felt moved, and nodded slightly, "Mm, from now on, we’re husband and wife, legally protected, so you can’t flirt around."
Luo Haofeng laughed, "In my life, I only want you, this flower. I’m not interested in those other flowers and grasses."
"Smooth talker."
Bai Xiaoxiao smiled and gave him a playful look.
Luo Haofeng then retracted his smile and seriously said, "Xiaoxiao, I’ve waited for this day for years. In the coming decades, I will always hold your hand and never let you get hurt."
His voice was so deep and moving that Bai Xiaoxiao felt a twinge of nasal congestion, and her clear eyes became misty with tears.
"I’ve decided to stick with you for life. Even when I’m old, you can’t despise me."
"Silly, when you’re old, I’ll be old too. You’ll still be the most beautiful in my eyes."
Every woman loves to hear sweet nothings, and Bai Xiaoxiao is no exception. Listening to Luo Haofeng’s words, her heart felt as sweet as if it were soaked in honey.
The ringtone of the phone interrupted, and Luo Haofeng removed his hand from Bai Xiaoxiao’s face. Bai Xiaoxiao lowered her head to take out her phone and, seeing the caller ID, pressed the answer button with a cheerful voice, "Hello, Ranran."
"Xiaoxiao, have you gotten your certificate yet?"
Wen Ran’s voice came from the other end of the line, and a bright smile blossomed on Bai Xiaoxiao’s face. She glanced at Luo Haofeng beside her, then turned to look out the window. But when her gaze fell on a figure across the street, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.
She responded but clumsily switched topics, "Ranran, I think I just saw Xiaocha?"
Wen Ran was initially startled, as Bai Xiaoxiao’s conversation shifted too quickly for her to process immediately, taking two seconds before asking, "Xiaocha?"
"Yeah, it looked like Xiaocha, isn’t she supposed to be abroad?"
"Indeed, I haven’t heard she’s back, you might be mistaken. Have you and Luo Haofeng got the certificate yet?"
"Yes, we have, and we’re about to head there."
"Hurry up, everyone is waiting to see your marriage certificate."
"As if you’re all still wealthy singletons?"
Bai Xiaoxiao teased with a laugh.
From the other end, Wen Ran chuckled, "How could it be the same? The names and photos on your marriage certificate are different, right?"
In the corridor on the third floor of Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion, Wen Ran just finished the call with Bai Xiaoxiao when Wen Jin came upstairs from the stairwell.
Wen Ran, recalling what Bai Xiaoxiao had just said, casually asked, "Brother, has Xiaocha returned to the country?"
A trace of slight astonishment flashed across Wen Jin’s handsome face, and he blinked, "I don’t know."
Wen Ran pondered, "Then maybe Xiaoxiao was mistaken; she just told me she saw someone who looked like Xiaocha."
Wen Jin was silent for a few seconds before saying lightly, "On New Year’s Eve, she sent me a message, returning the money she owed me."
"Huh?"
Wen Ran looked at Wen Jin in surprise.
He appeared calm and, facing her surprised look, gently explained, "I intended to tell you, but I got busy and forgot."
Wen Ran questioned in bewilderment, "Xiaocha is still a student; where did she get so much money to pay you back?"
Wen Jin shook his head.
"Did you call to ask her?"
Wen Ran liked Jing Xiaocha very much; before Jing Xiaocha went abroad, she got along well with them. Wen Ran naturally treated her as a sister.
Now, hearing that Jing Xiaocha had returned the money to her brother, Wen Ran couldn’t help worrying about where she got the money.
Wen Ran frowned slightly, pulling out her phone as she spoke, "Xiaocha, a student studying abroad as an exchange student, where did she get so much money? And she only paid you back without even a phone call; I’ll call her to find out."
Although Jing Xiaocha and Wen Ran stayed in touch, exchanging emails occasionally, she hadn’t mentioned repaying Wen Jin’s money.
Wen Ran always felt that something might have happened between Jing Xiaocha and her brother before she went abroad?
Considering how much Jing Xiaocha liked her brother, even if she went abroad, she would think of him and care about him, but in her correspondence with Wen Ran, Jing Xiaocha rarely mentioned Wen Jin.
Wen Ran had once tried to subtly inquire, but whether it was Wen Jin or Jing Xiaocha, they either played dumb or changed the subject.
Wen Jin did not stop Wen Ran from calling Jing Xiaocha, but his expression grew slightly indifferent.
Regarding Jing Xiaocha, he seemed indifferent.
The phone rang a few times, and then the call was answered.
Jing Xiaocha’s voice came through the line, perhaps due to the time apart, carrying a hint of polite detachment within its softness, "Hello, Sister Wen."
"Xiaocha, I heard you are back in the country?"
Wen Ran asked straightforwardly, glancing at her brother standing next to her as she spoke.
There was a slight pause on Jing Xiaocha’s end of the line, but she quickly admitted, "Sister Wen, I only returned a few days ago because I had some things to handle and haven’t had the chance to call you. I was just thinking of calling you later today. Who told you this?"
