Chapter 1925: Chapter 1924: Just a Minor Injury
Perhaps, Luo Haofeng doesn’t need her to visit him at all.
He may never need it again.
Bai Xiaoxiao remembered the things Qiao Siyi said when they met the day before she returned to City B.
That was the second time Qiao Siyi had asked Bai Xiaoxiao to meet.
“That’s fine too, Xiaoxiao, your health isn’t fit for traveling such long distances. Mo Xiuchen and the others will get the exact situation regarding Luo Haofeng. Moreover, my dad happens to be at a meeting in City B and is also rushing to the hospital.”
It was because Gu Yan was in City B that Gu Kai didn’t go with Mo Xiuchen and the others.
Instead, he stayed to take care of the children, only Mo Xiuchen and Qin Mu went.
Bai Xiaoxiao forced a smile and pretended to be cheerful, “Ranran, let’s go pick some oranges in front; they’re really big on that tree.”
“Okay.”
Wen Ran smiled and agreed softly.
She didn’t know why, but she felt Bai Xiaoxiao was acting a bit strange.
Could it be that Xiaoxiao knows Qiao Siyi likes Luo Haofeng?
Thinking of this, Wen Ran gently furrowed her brow, shaking off the thought.
Although Bai Xiaoxiao pretended to be indifferent towards Luo Haofeng, in reality, she was distracted all afternoon.
Two or three times, when Ziyi and Tongtong called her, Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t hear them, lost in thought.
However, when Wen Ran’s phone rang, Bai Xiaoxiao reflexively glanced over, staring straight at the phone in Wen Ran’s hand.
“Hello, Xiuchen.”
Hearing Wen Ran call out Mo Xiuchen’s name, Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes slightly tightened, and she stared intently at Wen Ran.
She couldn’t hear what Mo Xiuchen was saying on the other end; she just felt a pang in her heart when Wen Ran’s gaze met hers.
Wen Ran gave Bai Xiaoxiao a reassuring smile and softly asked, “Xiuchen, how is Luo Haofeng’s injury?”
“Ah Feng’s injury, although serious, will heal after some time of rest. The main issue is Qiao Siyi; her leg has lost sensation…”
Wen Ran was shocked but dared not show it.
Especially since what Mo Xiuchen said later was different from what the deputy general manager of Luo Haofeng’s company had said when he received the call at noon.
Originally, they thought Luo Haofeng rolled down the mountain with a female company employee while saving her.
But now Mo Xiuchen told Wen Ran that it was Qiao Siyi who rolled down with Luo Haofeng trying to save him…
Additionally, the reason Qiao Siyi was bitten by a snake was because she saw the snake stealthily approaching Luo Haofeng from behind with the intent to attack him. She rushed up to drive the snake away and got bitten.
“Xiuchen, didn’t Xiao Yuting go to City B too? Was he at the hospital, did he see Qiao Siyi?”
If Qiao Siyi’s leg really can’t be healed…
And if it’s because of Luo Haofeng that she ended up like this, then, would Luo Haofeng…
The more Wen Ran thought about it, the tighter her brow furrowed.
“Xiao Yuting is in the ward at the moment, but Qiao Siyi refuses to see him. It doesn’t seem like his interest in Qiao Siyi is just a passing fancy. Even after hearing from the doctor that Qiao Siyi’s left leg might not recover, he hasn’t left.”
Mo Xiuchen’s voice, low and deep, came across the call.
Bai Xiaoxiao stayed beside Wen Ran, watching her with a worried expression.
“Xiuchen, is Luo Haofeng awake now? Xiaoxiao is very worried about him, can you have him say a few words to Xiaoxiao?”
“Ranran, I don’t want to talk to him.”
Bai Xiaoxiao was focused on watching Wen Ran on the phone, and before she knew it, she heard her mention herself and ask Luo Haofeng to talk to her.
She refused outright, against her true feelings.
Wen Ran smiled and said, “Xiaoxiao, there’s no one else here, what’s there to hide about being concerned for Luo Haofeng? Even if you two broke up, he’s still the father of your child. Caring about him isn’t abnormal.”
“How did Xiaoxiao find out?”
Mo Xiuchen asked in confusion from the other end. When he left, he told Ranran not to tell Bai Xiaoxiao yet.
“It was Xiao Yuting who called Xiaoxiao.”
Wen Ran briefly explained, avoiding sharing her guesses with Mo Xiuchen in front of Bai Xiaoxiao.
But Mo Xiuchen immediately understood Xiao Yuting’s purpose in calling Bai Xiaoxiao after listening to Wen Ran. He kindly said, “I’ll go into the ward to find Ah Feng now, he’s not resting yet.”
“Okay.”
Wen Ran responded softly, then told Bai Xiaoxiao, “Xiaoxiao, Xiuchen went to the ward to find Luo Haofeng.”
Bai Xiaoxiao felt her emotions suddenly thrown into chaos by Wen Ran’s words.
She hadn’t been in contact with Luo Haofeng for a long time. Ever since he sent her home and left that last time, she hadn’t seen him or received any calls from him.
No messages either.
Sometimes, Bai Xiaoxiao felt that Luo Haofeng must have moved on gradually too, and wouldn’t come looking for her again.
The baby in her belly seemed to sense her tension and moved slightly.
Bai Xiaoxiao instinctively raised her hand to gently stroke her rounded belly.
Trying to calm her chaotic emotions, she realized that Mo Xiuchen had called her from the hallway, and going to the ward to find Luo Haofeng wouldn’t take long.
Within just two minutes, while Bai Xiaoxiao was still not prepared, Wen Ran’s voice rang out again, “Xiaoxiao, it’s Luo Haofeng, take the call.”
Looking at the phone Wen Ran handed over, Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart inexplicably skipped a beat.
Her eyes flickered as she stared at the phone for several seconds before hesitantly extending her hand to take Wen Ran’s phone and slowly putting it to her ear.
Everything was quiet on the phone.
Luo Haofeng didn’t know if she had answered, he waited silently. Besides the sound of the other’s breathing, she held her breath, producing no sound at all.
Bai Xiaoxiao’s lips moved, but no words came out.
After not being in contact for so long, she found herself at a loss for what to say to Luo Haofeng.
Unconsciously gripping the phone tighter, her chaotic thoughts couldn’t form words. Before she could figure out what to say, Luo Haofeng’s voice softly spoke first.
“Xiaoxiao.”
A long-missed gentle call.
Piercing through the distance, transmitting through the airwaves, filled with longing and tenderness, it reached her ears.
Bai Xiaoxiao’s breath caught abruptly.
Her eyes narrowed, a sudden surge of unnamed warmth washed over the bridge of her nose, instantly flooding her eyes, blurring her vision.
She envisioned Luo Haofeng lying on the hospital bed, even though Wen Ran had told her everything she knew, Bai Xiaoxiao still felt unsure about the extent of Luo Haofeng’s injuries.
The mere thought of Luo Haofeng rolling down the mountain sent a stabbing pain through her heart as if pricked by steel needles.
“I heard you got injured, is it serious?”
Bai Xiaoxiao tried hard to suppress her worry and distress, striving to make her voice sound calm and indifferent.
Luo Haofeng’s voice was soft; it was unclear whether it was because his injury was severe or due to some other reason, “Xiaoxiao, don’t worry, it’s just a minor injury to me.”
