Chapter 1804: Chapter 1803: How Could I Ever Repay You
The fact that Xu Wanfei has a mental illness left Bai Xiaoxiao in a bad mood.
Seeing her return to the office with a sullen face, Xiao Yuting thought she had been upset by Xu Wanfei during the interrogation.
So he gently comforted her, “Xiaoxiao, don’t be angry.”
“Just because Xu Wanfei isn’t saying who instructed her now, it doesn’t mean she never will.”
Wen Jin smiled slightly and spoke gently as well.
Bai Xiaoxiao snorted angrily and said with discontent, “Do you know? Xu Wanfei actually has a history of mental illness.”
“What?”
No one was more surprised than Xiao Yuting.
Mo Xiuchen and Wen Jin, along with Mr. Bai, looked at her with slight astonishment.
Xiao Yuting blurted out, “Xiaoxiao, who told you Xu Wanfei has a history of mental illness?”
Luo Haofeng picked up the topic, and Bai Xiaoxiao answered, “It was Xu Wanqi who said it. We just happened to meet her bringing a lawyer over.”
Bai Xiaoxiao looked at Xiao Yuting, asking in confusion, “You didn’t know Xu Wanfei had a history of mental illness either?”
After all, Xu Wanfei was his ex-girlfriend.
Xiao Yuting shook his head innocently, “Xiaoxiao, I didn’t know. It’s really disgusting. If she has a history of mental illness, she’ll act with impunity.”
“This is really unexpected.”
Mo Xiuchen remarked and then looked at Xiao Yuting, “From Xu Wanfei’s words just now, it’s clear she hasn’t forgotten about President Xiao. Why not try charming her to see if she’ll reveal anything else?”
By the end, Mo Xiuchen’s lips curved into a faint smile.
But Xiao Yuting’s expression changed when he heard it.
Put on a charm offensive?
Just the thought of Xu Wanfei disgusted him, so how could he use charm on her?
But seeing Bai Xiaoxiao with her brows furrowed, Xiao Yuting’s heart tightened slightly; his feelings for Bai Xiaoxiao were complicated.
He knew well that the person she liked was Luo Haofeng, and the two of them were already together, but he still liked her.
And hoped to do something for her.

Another two days passed without progress in the kidnapping case. Xu Wanfei wasn’t afraid at all because of her mental illness.
In the afternoon, Xiao Yuting went to the police station.
He found Lu Zhiyan and asked to see Xu Wanfei.
“Why do you want to see Xu Wanfei?”
Lu Zhiyan asked, puzzled.
Xiao Yuting’s eyes shifted unnaturally, and then he cleared his throat, raising his head high, “I want to make her tell the truth.”
Lu Zhiyan suddenly laughed, “How are you going to make Xu Wanfei tell the truth? Are you planning to use charm?”
Lu Zhiyan hadn’t heard Mo Xiuchen’s suggestion that day.
He merely said it casually.
However, Xiao Yuting looked even more unnatural and cast a resentful glance at him, “If using charm can make her tell the truth, I wouldn’t mind.”

Meanwhile, Bai Xiaoxiao and her mother had just returned from her grandmother’s house.
She cut a fruit, placed it on a plate, and handed a small piece to her mother, “Mom, have some fruit.”
Qiao Xiuyun smiled, took the fruit, bit into it, and just then, her phone rang.
The incoming call was a string of unfamiliar numbers, and she frowned slightly, pressing the answer button and uttering, “Hello.”
A strange woman’s voice came from the other end, “Is this Mrs. Bai?”
“Who are you?”
Qiao Xiuyun counter-questioned instead of answering, her brow slightly furrowed.
Intuition told her that an unfamiliar call like this wouldn’t bring good news.
The caller didn’t introduce herself but said mystically, “Mrs. Bai doesn’t need to know who I am. I called today to tell you something.”
“What is it?”
Qiao Xiuyun impatiently refrained from hanging up.
Beside her, Bai Xiaoxiao glanced at her mother and continued to eat a small piece of fruit.
She just fixed her gaze on her mother. After a moment, she saw her mother’s expression change and then angrily turn to her.
Bai Xiaoxiao’s heart skipped a beat.
A sense of foreboding rose within her.
Her mother’s eyes held inquiry and anger.
The only thing Bai Xiaoxiao could think of that could infuriate her mother was her relationship with Luo Haofeng.
She prayed silently, hoping it wasn’t about that.
She hadn’t figured out how to tell her mother and didn’t want someone else to tell her first.
But the more she wished for something not to happen, the more likely it would.
A moment later, Qiao Xiuyun hung up.
Her gaze was sharp as she glared at Bai Xiaoxiao and asked sternly, “Xiaoxiao, you be honest with me, are you seeing Luo Haofeng again?”
Bai Xiaoxiao’s expression changed, “Mom, don’t be angry.”
Qiao Xiuyun was visibly angry, “Just tell me, are you?”
Bai Xiaoxiao quickly deliberated in her mind, whether to tell the truth or to lie.
Who was the person that called her mom, and did they have solid evidence? How much did they know?
Countless questions swirled in her mind, and she had to weigh the consequences. If she lied, would her mother be angrier? If she told the truth, what would the outcome be?
It was an enormous dilemma.
But Qiao Xiuyun’s gaze grew sharper, and her expression became increasingly furious, “Xiaoxiao, you promised me you’d never have anything to do with Luo Haofeng again. How can you deceive your own mother? Does you doing this justify my raising you for over twenty years?”
“Do you really want me to die in front of you before you’ll be satisfied!”
That last sentence from Qiao Xiuyun left Bai Xiaoxiao’s face pale as a sheet.
Her eyes turned red, and she instinctively called out, “Mom.”
She knew her mother didn’t allow her to be with Luo Haofeng, but what could she do when she loved him so much?
She couldn’t bear being with any other man except Luo Haofeng. Just like when she was with Meng Ke before, whenever he got close to her, she felt utterly uncomfortable.
Any intimate gesture made her want to escape.
Bai Xiaoxiao’s call of ‘Mom’ was laden with heaviness and pain!
Intermixed with the anguish accumulated in her heart over the years, no further explanation was needed; Qiao Xiuyun immediately understood.
Her daughter was indeed secretly involved with Luo Haofeng.
The son of the woman who ruined her life—she couldn’t possibly not hate him.
For over twenty years, she frequently had nightmares, dreaming of that night’s scene. Whenever that happened, her hatred was bone-deep.
She had hoped fervently that she’d never have anything to do with Wu Jingfang in this lifetime and wouldn’t have to see her.
But, Xiaoxiao fell in love with that woman’s son.
And fell deeply in love, heedless of anything.
Ignoring her words, secretly dating Luo Haofeng.
Just thinking about this made the rage flare up in her heart as she glared furiously at Bai Xiaoxiao.
Her hand lifted high, truly wanting to slap Bai Xiaoxiao hard across the face.
In that instant, Bai Xiaoxiao merely opened her eyes wide, looking at her through tear-filled eyes.
She waited for her mother to give her the slap.
She knew she had hurt her mother’s heart.
The next second, the crisp sound of a slap echoed in the living room.
However, Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t feel a bit of pain on her face; instead, tears burst from her astonished, wide-open eyes.
